You could say the same about Jose Mourinho. Clough was like Mourinho in his era. Both person deserve to be a manager for their national team. Mourinho should be a Portugal manager after all the job he had done with Porto that win UCL in 2003/04 with 80% of homegrown portuguese player

There's only one son of God and that's our Nigel .. " Thats a true story.. The likes of Brian Clough we'll not see again.
Hang on ... Jock Stein runs him close if not better. Didn't the Big Man build a team at Kilmarnock first and then Celtic? Nine in a row when Scottish teams were competitive. European Cup winners with a team of home grown players and nearly a second European Cup in 1970. The difference if it exists is minimal.
Clough achieved everything in football & I'm sure would have won the world cup if the FA had the balls to appoint him England manager instead of the safe option of Ron Greenwood. The only man to have terrified Roy Keane & I'd love to see him handle today's prima donna's! Clough storys are legendary!
He would have kicked some arse of those fat cats in the FA. And who knows football in Europe would have been quite different now. @@serenityinside1same here matey they dont make em like that anymore 😢 I could listen to cloughie stories all day he was a character and a hero at both Derby and Forest. Best thing to happen in football management 👏
I had the pleasure of attending Leeds United event at the Queens in Leeds a few year back. They had some players from days gone by. As an Arsenal fan I wasn’t overly interested but Dean came on and smashed it! So funny I was crying. If you get a chance to hear him at an award event please go as he is hilarious.
Dean has so many great stories and I don’t believe he would make up a story especially one involving cloughy who you can tell he had so much respect for.
Absolutely love that story unapologetically cloughy all over what a man and what a manager, great at man management also, wish we still had people like him in the game today…. LEGEND
Fantastic story. Absolutely pissing myself hahaaa. Cloughie was a true legend of the game. My mum met him once at Old Trafford when Forest played United, she said he was such a lovely bloke who made time to speak to everyone. Not many characters around like that anymore
I think Dean brought that story over brilliantly, I could actually visualise the scene, like a comedy sketch, absolutely brilliant, and without a doubt 100 per cent accurate, couldn't stop laughing 😆😆😂👌
It would appear so afterall, according to Alan Hill, whose house was the one used for the meeting, none of it happened. Though it's so off the wall, and so Brian Clough, I still wonder, Alan Hill may think he's protecting Cloughie's reputation. Then you ask yourself, why would Saunders tell such an outrageous story and one that he would know would be disputed, unless he knew at least most of it was true afterall. I guess we'll never know for sure, perhaps the truth is somewhere in the middle 👍
He never had a drink problems till towards the end of his management....The film is bull where they added that and gained the later years put into the younger years of him. Wrong!
Shane, there few great managers around today - give me Cloughie, Ferguson, Bill Nicholson, Shankly over any of those around today - Cloughie and his Derby County and Notts Forest sides were brilliant and entertaining - oh how I'd love to see that over West Ham now.

It's really sad for people of my generation that there isn't more of Clough caught on camera.
There is quite a bit; get searching. The stories of the great man are legendary
It’s sadder still that characters like this are fewer and far between. Perhaps the fact that so many people now are on camera is a reason why…
Bill Shankly and Brian Clough were two of the best..immense personality's.
It’s probably for the best

We need another Brian Clough character back in the game. Modern day managers lack personality. Clough was hilarous in interviews.
