  • The In the Flesh Tour, also known as "Animals Tour", was a concert tour by the English rock band Pink Floyd in support of their album Animals. It was divided in two legs, one in Europe and another in North America. The tour featured the famous character inflatables puppets, and also featured a pyrotechnic "waterfall" and one of the biggest and most elaborate stages to date, including umbrella-like canopies that would raise from the stage to protect the band from the elements.

    Gilmour was feelin' it that night. Great tone, great solos. The jam in the last 7 minutes is so awesome.

      Chris Thomas Yea I just found out. Snowy on bass and Roger on a black strat. I'm confused then. Who played the last solo? It's really amazing but doesn't sound like Gilmour. Could it be Roger or is it Gilmour? :0

    My favorite 1977 recording of live Floyd and I've listened to them all. Love the tiny flub at 8:04 by David. The solos absolutely kill. Rogers screaming animal sounds. What an amazing concert it must have been to see. The build up at the end of Pigs, the climactic solo, the cheer at the release of thre inflatable pig...just incredible.

    • @marcushogan6613

      I know it's the most depressing thought! They have all the recordings from the soundboards too. There's hardly even any pictures from this period never mind any video footage either. While the Pink Floyd concerts in 88 and 94 were absolutely incredible they didn't make absolutely amazing live albums. This tour would remedy that no bother!

    • @SluffAdlin
      @SluffAdlin 7 років тому +9

      Most likely for technical reasons. Gilmour has often said that almost every show was flawed in some way or another, from mistakes by the band, to technical issues of both sound and the visuals to Waters losing it on the audience etc. Though I think Waters rants should be included in an official release. Nobody seems to know if any of these shows were officially recorded by the band, though some outside sources say all shows were recorded by the band. I find it strange that 'Animals', from studio outtakes to live performances etc., has never had any official boxed set or release, just endless bootlegs. Even 'You Gotta Be Crazy" (original version of 'Dogs') and 'Raving and Drooling' (original version of 'Sheep') ended up on the Immersion Edition of 'Wish You Were Here'.

    The "Animals " Tour was absolutely brilliant. Pink Floyd at one of their best stages in their career, SO agressive at the time got them the nickname " Punk Floyd ". Anyone that saw the shows will probably agree......However, " The Wall " live shows blew them away. I'm absolutely delighted I had the pleasure to see them live so often. Still got the Programmes, and Concert Tickets in fact........

    • @alb639
      @alb639 Рік тому +2

      I'd say 1977 was the peak of Pink Floyd. Every one of them was playing so tight - it's a goddamn sin that there are no official soundboard recordings of the In The Flesh tour of '77...or even a European leg would be awesome. Yes, The Wall was freakin' awesome, but I say they peaked in 1977 because by 1979 everybody fuckin' hated each other. At least we got The Wall and The Final Cut out of 'em before Roger bolted.

    Whereas Rick Wright's was not present on the album version, Rick's Moog solo works better than the voicebox and the organ solo at the end was something that the album version lacked. Animals I rarely listen to these days whereas live 1977 recordings saw the album BETTERED! Same for The Wall, Rick was on the album but live performances saw Rick's keyboards come alive. David Gilmour loved Animals but Rick Wright hated the album and said although he played well on it, he didn't like much of the music and also called it the start of Roger's ego trip.

    Excellent performance by Waters! It honestly makes me wonder if it was playback...not that Rog isn't a great singer, he's fantastic, but he tends to have a very different voice live. Like how they made the song an extended jam track live, as with most of their long suites, but I wish they'd used the chorus section (the dominant 7th chord part) for something else than a continuation of that guitar solo. Like a drum-and-bass part, that would have been perfect. Anyway, great find, and hats off to Roger.

    I saw Floyd a couple of times in the after Waters years so I never saw them play this live. However I've seen the Brit Floyd play some stuff from Animals and when I heard those songs live I realized there's a LOT going on. I don't like some of Waters' lyrics on Animals but the music is really good..... complex and technical.
