This was an average experience back then, so much incredible music. We would just sit together to listen and appreciate a new song …seems weird now but actually more reverent in its way.
Oh man! Whoever fails to recognize just how epic this is and it’s place in human history, both the song and performance, just hasn’t lived and I suggest they go research the impact of minimalist music like this on music as a whole and the influence guys like this musical genius have on artists today.
Heard the song today..love it..Was released 1972 when we were all brothers..down for the struggle together..just trying to maintain our own existence..then politics, social media, and news shows divided us....sad times..
@harly5571 "1972 when we were all brothers" - Kidding ? Or stoned or not born yet I Guess ? Sorry may sound a bit harsh; but 1972 *we" were NOT brothers at all !
Absolutely its called Ebony and Ivory: I'm a mixed race woman in her early 60's and I clearly remember this fabulous record... reason being my boyfriend is white and its also called a Melting Pot....No More Wars Please because Nobody Wins....Lets Just Live Together ❤❤❤
This song is masterful. This is that What's Going On, Mercy Me generation. Beautiful, soulful, socially conscience messages that are just as important today as they were 50 years ago. Songs like Is it because I'm black, and Wake Up Everybody should have a renaissance. These songs will never grow old. Bravo!
Just so glad I was a teenager in the 70s...my love of soul, proper R&B, Reggae thanks to my parents love of Motown makes me love this and those versions that followed, Sade, Santana, and Stevie Winwood, not to forget Joan Osborne. BUT, Timmy rips it up and makes it bloody hard to follow like a lost first love. God do we need more of this now more than ever.
I too heard it when I was about 16 at a friends house, remember the place and time, that how much this resonated with me. Were both in our late 50's and I reminded him of this. Music has the ability to bring the world together in peace and love, just wish more people would really LISTEN ☮🤟

Somebody should write & perform original music as tremendous as past artists who really had a soul... “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.”- Oscar Wilde🤔 😳
Look at the audience .. just sitting there doing nothing… in the presence of a masterpiece 😢
