    Saw these guys play live three times in SoCal, and it changed my life. After the first time, I had Dave Borisoff install a Hipshot on my Tele when he still had his shop in Van Nuys, before he moved Hipshot to Interlaken. Next time I saw them play, I got talking to Will Ray and ended up learning string bender with him for 6 months. At the first session, he said, "OK...ground rules. If you wanna know what JJ does, buy his videos. If you wanna know what Jerry does, don't ask. I have no idea how he does what he does."

      Install a hipshot---remove the rear strap button place the hipshot on and replace the strap button.

    • @Vito_Tuxedo
      @Vito_Tuxedo 11 місяців тому

      @@sjuozhunki - Depends on the guitar. I went to Dave because Will recommended I do so, not because I wasn't willing to install the Hipshot myself. As it turned out, it was a good move. I had a Schecter bridge that needed a mod to keep the B-string saddle from buzzing. Dave had all the equipment necessary to mill out the saddle and install a lockdown screw that still left the saddle in tunable condition.
      For a Tele with a standard bridge, yeah...maybe that wouldn't have been necessary. The thing about the Hipshot bender is that the B-string's ball end doesn't come up through the guitar body; it anchors on the bender. Depending on the kind of bridge you have, there might not be enough downward pressure on the saddle to keep it from vibrating, losing string energy into the saddle, which sounds like crap. Dave's mod fixed that.
      While he was at it, Dave did some other mods to reduce friction along the entire length of the B-string: A teflon sleeve where the string passes through the bridge plate, and a roller string tree between the nut and the tuning peg. It all helps to ensure that the string returns to accurate pitch afer the bend, which it didn't do before the mods. 😎

    I love the clap at the end.
    I always picture this being played in some No-name bar in the middle of nowhere. They come out and play like the best performance of their lives, putting all their effort in. By the end their just standing there sweating and out of breath, only for this one guy with a cig hanging from his lip to look up and give a measly couple of claps. It always make me laugh.

    I've had the Hal Leonard guitar tab book for this album for probably 20 years and its in mint condition cause I've never tried to learn any of these songs yet. My God, I'm in for it! I've been playing for 31 years and I've never delved into the tele country Roy Buchan style before. This song I'm pretty sure is the hardest one to play on this album. I just listened to it tonight for the 1st time ever and laughed after it was over saying to myself "that was ridiculous". Back to the woodshed, it'll be fun to learn this style.

Well first I wanted to toss my guitar out the window, but then I got over it and now I want to learn how to play better. It would be a dream if I could play this well. I would never stop playing the guitar for people if I could...

      +contact1araya well, Rhoads is dead and Yngwie and Paul are outstanding guitarists in their own field. These guys are exceptional at this, and Randy, Yngwie and Paul were/are exceptional in their genre. I would imagine that these guys couldn't do what Yngwie and Paul do, while Yngwie and Paul probably can't do what these guys do....
      Interestingly though, I reckon if you gave the task of all musicians to learn the others style, Yngwie and Paul would be more successful.

    • @eddiedrake1989

      John jorgenson could stack against paul yngwie and rhoads. John is a very diverse player and is the ambassador of gypsy jazz. Literally the ambassador. His acoustic playing is just as or more ridiculous.
