  • This week, Jamie is joined in the studio by none-other than his good friend, fellow podcaster and MIC alumni, Millie Mackintosh.
    In this episode, Jamie and Millie have a super honest and open discussion about their journeys with mental health. Millie speaks candidly about her journey with anxiety, from when it started when she was at school, to having therapy and stopping drinking in order to work on her relationship with herself.
    They also discuss having children, keeping the spark alive in relationships and even reminisce about the good old days of Made in Chelsea, as well as the unexpected way that Millie ended up being cast for the show. This is not one to miss.

    I could really relate to this conversation. Panic attacks since I was 13 which came on after being bullied. It changed my whole life,took away my confidence. I had to go on medication in my 30’s as the panic attacks were all day,every day. The thought of everything overwhelmed me. I’m now 42,last had a drink 5 months ago and I’ve never felt better since being alcohol free. Hangovers destroyed me. I think age helps too with confidence coming back and staying clear of drama and dramatic people 😊

    Jamie’s ibs lightbulb moment is exactly what I had watching this. I haven’t had an ibs episode in so long and I realised it’s because I’m in a new job and no longer stressed and anxious. 💡💡💡

    The early days of MIC were hands down the best. The cast, with Millie, Spencer, Jamie etc were great. It captured exactly what the show was supposed to be. Everything since then has been a pale imitation. It’s very rare that the original series of a show can improved on, and this proves it. I still watch it, and enjoy it, but it bares no comparison to the early days.

    My panic attacks started randomly when I was 22 on a bus home from work. I never knew what it was until a year later it happened again. I’ve seen had around 20 more. Horrific to feel like your dying. I’m 33 now!!

    My panic attacks started when my mum was diagnosed with cancer when i was 18/19. I developed a way to cope to manage to lessen the feeling of not breathing- its hard to explain because i can breath obviously, but it feels like im breathing but i cant feel air going into my lungs, it feels like being smothered and suffocated. Later i developed a condition called pots which is physiological but creates a similar experience, but i feel so much sympathy for anyone who goes through it. I just increase the length of my inhale and make it slower, and concentrate solely on the feeling of my ribs expanding as i take in the breath and then exhaling really slow feeling my ribs sink and trying to drop my shoulders as far as possible and concentrate solely on that. It seems to unclench my muscles and get me out of my head. Then you have to break the trigger down into stages before you think about it. Like if your worried about a big presentation the next day, id focus on 1. Getting my outfit ready and getting a good night sleep. Then id write down the other stages but leave them until it was time to do them, i have my list and my mind can relax so i can unwind because i wont forget, i have my list. That helps me anyway, if it helps anyone else fab!

    Millie was the best, certainly of the female cast. Victoria Baker-Harber was the “Uber Bitch” of cutting insults, but Millie was the only one who ever got the better of her. I remember they met by chance in the park, and when Millie’s dog didn’t react well to Victoria, Millie explained “he doesn’t get on well with other dogs.”

    just curious - if anyone can explain - how can a person feel like theyre a better mum, partner, friend etc just from not drinking? Because assumably she socially drinks and then gets hungover, but on a day to day basis I'm assuming she wasn't an alcoholic or drinking heavily daily - so I'm interested to know how you change so beneficially in your whole life just from not drinking on a night out for example

    • @l0lliezoe3x
      @l0lliezoe3x Рік тому +2

      what i'm trying to say is i get how much it would improve an alcoholic's life - someone who uses alcohol as a dependence. But, as a social drinker, how can stopping drinking on the weekends improve your overall life and mental health etc?

      I understood it as she's overall less anxious which means she's focussed on everything a lot more, including being a Mum.

    So I keep hearing about public people going sober and they all say how wonderful they feel and that their anxiety is less now and whatnot, I wonder, what happens to people like me who don't drink?... how do I reduce my anxiety?

    I think this was a great podcast but I do think it needs to be taken into consideration that some may not be able to have kids or may not get through the adoption process so I dont think its right to say that is a human beings aim in life...I have a little one now but I was told I couldnt have kids so I can understand both sides but I think it needs to be factored in somewhat...

    Victim, victim victim. I just can’t listen to it. Sometimes you people are so transparent and so insincere. Some people actually have real problems. So privileged and no idea. Planning a wedding, flying with your children, drinking and hangovers. So dramatic. Just stop.

      Anxiety is real and can ruin anyone's quality of life - whether they're homeless or a Chelsea babe. Just because someone else has it worse doesn't delegitimize someone's problems. Stop being a prick or don't watch.

      I'm 1,000,000x less well off than Millie but her having the guts to be honest about her anxiety has helped me. If you can't have empathy and only care about people with the same problems as you then don't watch.
