Most important tool is the tape measure, laser measure and pencil. Can’t really plan or do anything without measurements. Most of my projects are home additions, screened patios, etc.
Then I keep 24oz framing hammer, square, chalk line, 1 big pouch for fasteners/trash if I’m removing fasteners, 1 small pouch for fasteners. A 6” level, razor knife, along with a sharpie and a nail punch. Sometimes keep a small nail remover/pry bar. Used to keep a calculator but now my phone has the construction calculator app
I’ve kept everything in the same place on my tool bag since I started 12 years ago.

My offset Midwest aviation snips are out on all the metal days. The ease of cutting and quality of the cut edge is so much better than buddy's set from Wiss that I have no regrets paying $15 more for american made excellence.

Gregg: Give me a sec to tell you (Dude focus), you are missing your true worth. Men may say it’s muscles and comedy.. I’m going to tell you that the One who fitted you together in a beautiful and intricate design, saw a much deeper and important meaning for your life. In fact, He planted the finer talents, the REAL worth below the surface. The best part of you (the part with eternal value) is not muscles or comedy. FIND IT BY FINDING HIM.

I read the entire Ryan’s ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxGqOCINHE0Z0E5gxzSdNi9NWGugRY5Hm2 Plans and was able to make a shed plan. Using Ryan’s Shed Plans alone, the shed itself is great. Where I wish I knew more is with respect to ground preparation and foundations. Maybe that's beyond the scope of Ryan’s Shed Plans.

Man you guys are Hollywood. If you fell in the pond i'd save that tool bag first and let you bob till i got back, the bags and kit are worth more than you and the first truck I bought put together. Back in the day we'd be shatting in tall cotton if we could scrape enough dough together doing side jobs to have a set of Custom Bob's Leather bags made. He made them and fitted them to you while you waited and had beer in the fridge and a barber chair to sit in while he made them or you could buy a set of Occidentals and a California Framer Hammer and those were hand made back then from a rig axe and a Vaughan hammer cut apart and welded together. I remember the first Milwaukee battery drill. it had a motorcycle battery in a metal box with a 6' cord. and took forever to charge it was high tec and worthless at the same time and when the Makita 9.6v Drill came out (which I still have and it still works perfectly) it was like Magic!!!!!!!!!!! It cost $110 for the drill and it was a huge purchase because a Skill was was like $75 or less. Back then the only thing Milwaukee made worth a crap was the Sawsall and Hole Hawg and a Magdrill everything else was Makita or Skill or Craftsman all the way and the only thing that took batteries was the jobsite boom box. There were no GVC nails we made Gasowax nails you mixed parafin wax and gasoline and you put a keg of 16s in a 5 gal bucket with holes in the bottom and you poured the gasowax over the nails and through to another bucket and coated them they worked slicker than owl sh$t and beams etc. were cut with a chainsaw there were no beam saws yet till makita came out with one in the late 70s and the roach coach had beer on ice. You gota love technology though. As always I like the content and tell Greg thanks for carrying you all these years.

I watched the video where Cole went with you and get that hammer. I remember that video. Man, 6 years ago. I think I've only been watching your videos since 2018 though. I think about going out on the job with my dad when I wasn't in school. I begged him long enough to let me go at 9, and I carried lumber for him and kept the scrap material separated, anything 2ft and longer in one pile to be used and anything smaller in the trash. by the time I was 11, I was cutting the black board they put under the siding back then, and I would cut plate material and headers on the Sear and Roebuck radial arm saw set up with a 30 ft 2x12 for a table. man, that was a long time ago. by the time I was 14, I was doing the soffit fascia and lookouts. I really liked going to the jobsite with my dad!

I don't know about the Lenox utility knife, but the blades with the Titanium edge are awesome blades; I've been using them for the last 5 or 6 years now! They are hands down the sharpest blades and keep an edge longer. Awesome blades! I personally like the folding utility knives and for the longest I used Klein, until this year when I saw the Milwaukee utility knife that is able to hold 5 extra blades and folds with good action with a nice belt clip on it made from some heavy duty wire. Very nice set up the way the extra blades tuck in next to the knife, very convenient set up, and I don't have to worry about taking the time to loosen a screw to get to the blades and it's all very compact! You Lenox knife is just another 50 year old utility knife with white paint on it, sorry but Milwaukee has the best one I've seen yet. But Lenox does look flashy with all the bling on it. it's just a painted up old utility knife though :)

I haven't ever seen anything like the Pica Dry in Lowe's or Home Depot. That's probably a Menards item. I wish we had one in Oklahoma because their lumber, especially their cedar, looks a 1000 times better than what I see in Lowe's or the Depot. the only downfall of a carpenter pencil is the led tends to get broke banging around in the pouch day after day.

that's the problem I find with the DeWalt tape also, it tends to want to twist after you've had it a few weeks, and it retracts way too fast, causing mechanical problems down the road. Usually I have used FatMax for decades. I recently bought a 25' Milwaukee but I didn't get the beefed up version, which is better.

We kinda do everything framing, roofing, siding, and windows in the summer and cabinets/drywall in the winter. I carry a Stanley fatmax 25' tape, pencil, inkzall, Vaughn 19oz framing hammer, wiss yellow snips, a milwaukee fastback knife, a milwaukee caulk line, a Stanley 3 piece nailset, a pair of nail puller pliers, a stanley folding pocket chisel, an estwing cats paw, a jhonson speed square and a Malco siding swipe. All this goes in my gatorback tools framers belt. My tools go on my right side and I carry 1.5in roofing nails one pouch, 3 1/8 r4 grk in the next, 8d and 16d in the two center pouches on the left.

All of you guys need to checkout Akribis Leather tool belts. Handmade out of Canada. Hands down the best belt I've ever owned.

What kind of bits do you guys use? Looking for a good replacement for both screws and self tapping screws with the hex head

You’ll have to have some rando days where Gregg is also micd up. The outtakes and bloopers would be spectacular.

I like those Diamondback toolbelts but they sure are pricey. Is there anything similar for less $$?

Great video. I’d really appreciate more content like this instead of the TikTok style videos with an annoying AI spoken annotation over the video.

Love the set up. But I was surprised you didn’t have a fat Max tape. For me nothin beasts them. I never get twist and always superior standout.

Informative and entertaining as well. Now, do another take and remove the word "rockin' " from the dialog. Carry on.

I personally like suspenders attached to my bag belt, with all the stuff I put in my bags they help hold up my belt so I don't have to wear it so tight
