    Piscifun has certainly been increasing their quality on their reels. I haven’t tried their reels in saltwater yet. For their price point it’s hard not too. Thanks for sharing!

      Have to get out together one day, got a couple reels you can try before you buy! Two and a half years in the salt and the only thing we've done is rinse them with water after fishing. No corrosion and still feel like the day we got them!

      @@kckayakfishing I’d love that! I just got (another) heavier duty bottom fish rod that I’m pairing with a C4 Abu Garcia, but that’s the Piscifun reel would likely pair well with the rod as well.

      Oh nice! Ya as soon as we tried the Piscifun reels we fell in love with them and instantly bought 4 more 😂 pretty excited about the Alijoz 400 though that's apparently coming out soon!

    They make some killer fly reels too. I have their 9/10wt Platte for both shore casting on the salt as well as using as for my Spey line and it's solid.

      Thank you! We love the Alijoz, for the price it's really hard to beat. The Alijoz 400 is another option for anyone looking, we've only used them on 4 trips so far this season, hoping to have a full season with them before we do a video review and tell people if they should buy them or not but so far they've been great!
      Thanks for watching! 🙌

      @@kckayakfishing Do you think the 400 is that much better? The 300 (black and red) is on sale right now for $55 bucks vs the 400 for $125. Its a big difference in price. My friend wants to use it for jigging and salmon (when guest/friends can't figure out mooching reels). Idea would be to put on 65lb braid for jigging and occasional use as a trolling reel to just add some 30lb mono topper for the downrigger fishing (for nebie friends/kids) then remove the mono and back to jigging reel when no guest)
      I'd have to say for the huge price savings I'm thinking the 300 which is proven can't be a bad choice.
      But since you have had both is the 400 really worth skipping the sale price of the 300? We are talking and extra $70 to go up just one size.

    • @kckayakfishing
      @kckayakfishing  7 місяців тому

      @mikeandroi2698 honestly I think the 300 is probably best for what you plan on using it for, the reels are pretty close between the 300 and 400, with the 400 having only a couple lbs more drag and a higher line capacity. For our Salmon fishing we will continue to use the 300 while the 400 will be our Lingcod and Halibut reel as it holds a ton more line, roughly 300 feet more than the Alijoz 300. It's definitely worth the extra money for the 400 if you need more line capacity but really that's it, so if you don't need the extra line it's not worth spending the extra money in our opinion. The 300 will be able to handle anything you throw at it. Hope this helps!

      It's a great reel, I throw big cut bait with 4oz weights and it handles it like a champ. And love the baitclicker it crazy loud and a fun reel and smooth as butter.

    Which one would you recommend for black fish in the ocean rocks

    • @kckayakfishing
      @kckayakfishing  Рік тому

      We use the 5.9:1 (black and red) with power handles for our Rockfish fishing. But on Piscifuns website they offer a 6.6:1 (grey and gold) which would be a great in between reel for targeting some other species as well as the Black Rockfish 👍

    Can the 8.1:1 handle a yellowtail? I have this reel now and want to take it on a 3/4 days trip to Catalina.

    • @kckayakfishing
      @kckayakfishing  7 місяців тому +1

      We use it primarily for our Salmon fishing here on Vancouver Island, our Salmon are normally in the 15-30lb range, so it would probably be able to handle Yellowtail depending on the size. We have them fully loaded with 600 feet of 40lb Braid, which is a ton of line but we're normally fishing inside 150 feet. Hope that helps, we've never fished Yellowtail on these reels so can't say for sure.

    you dunk it in freshwater after every time out? whats your maintenance...don't you like double handles??

    • @kckayakfishing
      @kckayakfishing  Рік тому

      So far out maintenance has been zero, other than a quick rinse with fresh water after fishing in the salt. These reels are legit and held up to a ton of abuse from us and keep on going with no lack in performance. We highly recommend them. We prefer the power handles, not that there's anything wrong with the double handles we just like having a bigger handle to grab on to. Just personal preference, thanks for watching!

    Will 400 cast further than 300 or they about to same. I want to buy one for long distance casting. Can anybody help

    • @kckayakfishing
      @kckayakfishing  9 місяців тому +1

      Not 100% sure, guess it depends on what type of baits you plan on throwing with it, anything heavier than 6oz and I would lean more towards the 400, anything lighter the 300 would be perfect. Depends on the type of fishing as well, do you need more line capacity in a heavier test? If so then the 400 is the way to go. We haven't used our 400s yet, still waiting for our bottom fish season to open up, but it might be a good video to make to see the difference as now you got us curious!
      Thanks for watching! 🙏

      @kckayakfishing thank you for responding. I'm kind of curious if used same bait weight and same rod to cast will they perform same casting distant .

    • @jaaron2834
      @jaaron2834 4 місяці тому

      If you want to cast long distances,... you need a custom-tuned reel for distance casting ...I have the 300 and the 400 and they're not made for long-distance casting especially when you have a level wind,... don't take this the wrong way,.. the Alijoz will cast quite well but there's no way you're going to get 150+ yards.... the record is 900ft and change...
      I have purchased unused vintage Abu Ambassadeur reels that are completely rebuilt with custom parts for long-distance casting, and they're highly tuned with ceramic bearings and knobby mags.
      I'm not going to sugar coat this, it's not a cheap hobby, and don't forget, you need at least a 12' heaver to cast these distances I speak of
      🤙😎👍 Good luck 🤗

    Take the reel apart and grease and oil it with ReelX and it will protect it from saltwater corrosion

    • @kckayakfishing
      @kckayakfishing  Рік тому

      Our Salt Water Season just wrapped up, so the reels will definitely be getting some love over the winter months, we usually use Lucas reel oil, but will have to look into the ReelX, especially if it protects as well as lubricates. 🙌
