At a professional level, sports become about seconds and inches. If you use the refs to kill momentum, create second chance opportunities, discourage players from playing their full potential, you can most definitely rig games. It might not play out to how they would like it sometimes, but can definitely help carry teams with players who they would like to build “the face of the game” around.

Even if all that is true, (big if) the real question.... is why? With the nuclear level of hate (proven by videos such as this), its logical for the NFL to "push" a different team to win. Evidenced by the huge number of butthurt fans talking about not wanting to watch the Chiefs get to superbowl again. And don't even bother mentioning Swift. All the "ref help" narratives existed long before she entered the Chiefs world.
Not one single person has given a good reason for the NFL do such high risk shenanigans.

Quantitative analysis only gives a small insight into the story. The fact is, the time they overturn calls and the time in the games when there is no call is what is critical. I've watched my share of games, I think we all know that their O line holds and Mahomes breaks free for that 3rd and 16 yards to go for the first down TOO many times. Sad, really because PM is talented yet in my view he can never be compared to the greats due to this favoritism.

PI was reviewable for at least one season following the Tommy Lee Lewis debacle in New Orleans, but the league did away with it since none of the reviews were really being overturned.
It's a shame they took it out. It's by far the most impactful penalty in the modern NFL

Disregarding the helmet controversy (I'll admit, that was stupid), they were both holding each other a little. Calling it either way would be weak, so they just cancelled them out. There are a few others you call "weak" (and some of them are), but most of them, weak or not, like it or not, are technically fouls.
Great job, but this video doesnt take into account the number of calls missed that would've helped the Chiefs. I know i might be a little biased, but nobody cares when the refs miss calls for us.
Anyway, if you look at any team in the league since 2018, you'll find that similar things happen to every team, every game, every year. Its just because of our success that we're under a microscope so fans of other teams can discount our accomplishments. As someone who hated the Patriots dynasty, I get it. It's hard to see a team be so dominant, but that doesn't make any of it rigged. At least the Chiefs don't deflate balls or spy on other teams.

The Falcons didn't lose the game because of that call. Yes, it was PI, but even if they scored, the Chiefs had about 4 minutes left to play. Plus, they got the ball back and still couldn't get a 1st down on 4th and inches. That's what lost them the game. And don't act like the Falcons didn't get any calls to go their way, because they did!

The thing you don’t realize about how the NFL fixes games. Because the majority of penalty calls are based on the referees judgment. You don’t need the players or coaches to help the NFL fix games.

Love it. The tears are sweet, sweet, delicious, nectar. Watching other teams fans whine and cry about all this means we are really a NFL superpower. It won't last forever so I'm enjoying it, all of it. The crying is like a decadent, whipped icing.
