    As a wheelchair user I love the independence the Metro gives me, I have used it quote a few times and love it, I took my grandson into the QVB for lunch today, It was a great trip and he enjoyed it too,

      Alan Aldrich Funny how the marketing tries to make Metro look superior when there’s already a huge chunk of stations on the existing suburban Sydney Trains network to have disabled access.

      @@YishaiBarr It's because the new Metro-only stations like the Cherrybrook to Tallawong corridor were designed with the new Alstom Metropolis specifications in mind. Compare that to an older station that was originally made for heavy rail like Chatswood, ECRL stations and soon the Bankstown Line stations.

    I was riding on it the other week.it was my first time.thank goodness it was a smooth ride for me and no more technical faults.
    I love the new metro and I definetly catch it more often.
    & these are the really best trains that Sydney has got right now that are driverless and really convienent transport.

      Code Nation I actually live close to what will be one of the City & Southwest stations, but sadly Metro coming to me will be at a cost, as I’ll be one of 4,000 residents moved elsewhere as my hometown of Waterloo is being demolished to make way for highrises as part of Hong Kong-style Metro redevelopment. I have used Metro to ride to nice shopping districts like Castle Towers and Rouse Hill Town Centre, but I’m not happy with all these new downgrades to Northwest buses just to force more people to use the Metro.

    • @maccomplex
      @maccomplex 5 років тому +2

      @@nicholetheotter1957 There is no such thing as a Hong Kong Style Metro redevelopment. Waterloo is full of prime government land that the government will use to gentrify the area with a good portion to remain for low income housing. True Hong Kong style transit oriented development is what you see at Parramatta and Chatswood and it is not entirely a bad thing.

      I know this comment is a year late, but yeah, LOTS of places in Australia are named after towns in the UK. it's usually because a lot of the migrants and convicts were homesick and wanted to 're-create' their homeland here in Australia. If you look at a map of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and then compare it to Newcastle in NSW, you'll notice just how many suburbs there have taken their names from suburbs in the Tyneside area. There's a Wallsend, Jesmond, Gateshead, Gosforth and everything. And on another note, Newcastle upon Tyne was once the worlds biggest coal port. These days, Newcastle in NSW is the world's largest coal port.

    • @OliversElevators
      @OliversElevators Рік тому +2

      I think the spikes are there to prevent people from being trapped in the gap between the platform doors and the train doors

  • @mickjames73
    @mickjames73 5 років тому +4

    Why are the platform doors wider than the carriage doors? Also it is nice that the announcement in the carriage says which side the doors are opening however it would be more useful for vision impaired passenger if the announcement was made prior to the train actually stopping thus allowing them time to move to the correct side. I did see an issue at Chatswood where a number of people in a group (some including children had gotten on) were left off the train as doors were closed too quickly. The doors were reopened after anout a minute too allow the rest of the froup board. Have noticed the doors dont stay open for the same duration at each stop so not sure if they are remotely operated or purely be sensors.

    • @kcobley
      @kcobley 5 років тому +4

      The door are fully automated the train system software opens them, you don't try to get on when the doors are closing or attempt to hold the doors open. The gate doors are wider to allow the train a little play.

    Does the underground there at Epping include any Sydney trains or only Metro? Also, do Sydney trains still operate above ground at Epping?

    • @OldAussieAds
      @OldAussieAds 5 років тому +3

      The underground at Epping only includes Metro trains now. There's only two platforms and both had to be converted with that big screen where the doors line up with the Metro trains exactly. As far as I'm aware, there's no station that has Metro trains and Sydney Trains sharing the same platform. The above ground platforms at Epping serve the Sydney Trains and NSW Trainlink trains. These are not being replaced by any Metro services.

    • @sydneytrainsvlogs

      White Australian women’s fertility is now below replacement level (in common with much of the Western world) i.e. this demographic is actually shrinking, so we have to have large-scale immigration if we want the population to grow. Well educated and upwardly mobile Asians live in selected suburbs in the northern suburbs of Sydney that this Metro line runs through. The only problem is that this demographic tends to displace others rather than blend in with the broader population, leading to observational comments like yours.
