I’m signed up for a 50k on June 8 and have only been running for a 10 week build to get there (very unconventional). Went out for 22mile workout run; made it 11miles in and ended up with the most painful lower stomach pains and very irritated gut. I tried to do what I though was right by eating a bunch of carbs yesterday, but it was mainly in the form of fruit an a super fibrous cereal. Ended up having to call the run short because of the discomfort. Just did a bit of research and turns out you’re not supposed to eat too much fiber before hard/long runs. Of course this is the first video that comes across my youtube feed as I’m waiting for a friend to come pick me up😂
Drink coffee or water before you run... nick does this too so you can poop and clear our your bowels. It makes a huge difference. Every morning I wake up and don't run until I have pooped lol 😂. I hate having to go in the middle of my runs. 😢😂
You basically don’t want stuff sitting in your stomach, no matter what it is. So eat and drink earlier so it has time to clear out of your stomach. And as the other commenter said, it’s good to expel any waste from your body prior to setting out. Sometimes it just happens. I had a horrific run with several rounds of diarrhea once. Just a regular run. Sometimes you get unlucky and your body is unhappy.
I remember listening to one of nicks podcast and nick was saying BPN would not release a energy gel. I'm really glad they had a change of mind, and I can't wait to try them.

Yea If you’re a 120 lbs featherweight that’s skin and bones. Im 220 lbs and built closer to nick than I am kipchoge. I couldn’t get over 8 miles until I incorporated gels.
