great points about carbo loading. I would also add: its important to understand how many carbs you need to load. until recently, I was pretty old-school. carbo loading meant bowls of pasta, garlic bread, and an excuse for a few cookies. I was loading way too many carbs...far more than your muscles can actually retain, so the rest was being stored as fat. now when I carbo load, I keep to my normal diet and simply add a couple of pieces of sour-dough, maybe an extra 1/2 cup( uncooked) of rice. its made a big difference

Nick, been following you for quite a while. Love your videos and inspiration. Just finished my first ever triathlon (Ironman 70.3) and used a lot of your teachings to help me train. Signed up for a marathon in October and will be using your Boston prep as a guide. I wanted to share one piece of feedback. I typically watch your videos while making dinner or generally hanging out with my 4 little girls. They have gotten to know you, but lately, I have not been able to watch them as much because of some of the language. Your videos are your videos. Not asking you to change them just wanted you to know that the recent addition of some cursing has put a damper on watching.
I commented on this on one of his videos (I think it was the Leadville 100), I’m in the same boat as you, I watch the videos with my daughters and have had to stop doing that as the coarse language has crept in slowly..I sure hope he listens to the feedback

Dang he hit a 2:48 time! Really impressive. Regardless of what anyone thinks about his business, training, etc the guy gets sh*t done. He actually could probably get even faster but ultimately it just depends on what he wants to do and with the baby coming it'll be way harder to put the time into running that he has been doing.

nick i wanna ask you something, does massage gun works? i want to get one but i'm not sure about it. especially after my workouts i feel muscle soreness maybe it would help me to recover faster. I'll be glad if you answer :)
Not nick here obviously but figured I’d weigh in my opinion….I use my massage gun same as Nick pre runs and before bed every day. I notice a difference in how my legs feel and think it’s helps recovery. Theragun is a good brand with a warranty they stand behind that I’d reccomend! Hope this helps

great points about carbo loading. I would also add: its important to understand how many carbs you need to load. until recently, I was pretty old-school. carbo loading meant bowls of pasta, garlic bread, and an excuse for a few cookies. I was loading way too many carbs...far more than your muscles can actually retain, so the rest was being stored as fat. now when I carbo load, I keep to my normal diet and simply add a couple of pieces of sour-dough, maybe an extra 1/2 cup( uncooked) of rice. its made a big difference

Nick, been following you for quite a while. Love your videos and inspiration. Just finished my first ever triathlon (Ironman 70.3) and used a lot of your teachings to help me train. Signed up for a marathon in October and will be using your Boston prep as a guide. I wanted to share one piece of feedback. I typically watch your videos while making dinner or generally hanging out with my 4 little girls. They have gotten to know you, but lately, I have not been able to watch them as much because of some of the language. Your videos are your videos. Not asking you to change them just wanted you to know that the recent addition of some cursing has put a damper on watching.
I commented on this on one of his videos (I think it was the Leadville 100), I’m in the same boat as you, I watch the videos with my daughters and have had to stop doing that as the coarse language has crept in slowly..I sure hope he listens to the feedback

Great Job in Buffalo. I saw you at mile 4 when I was approaching mile 2. You looked relaxed and strong. Glad to see you accomplished your goal. It was perfect conditions and the course was nice and mostly flat. Love your products and I used your english muffin pre-race load to help with my bonking at mile 11.

Dang he hit a 2:48 time! Really impressive. Regardless of what anyone thinks about his business, training, etc the guy gets sh*t done. He actually could probably get even faster but ultimately it just depends on what he wants to do and with the baby coming it'll be way harder to put the time into running that he has been doing.

Needed this video! Haha also quick question, currently my window for work outs is only between 530am and 730 am. Would you recommend hitting runs before lifting or after? Running with a pump has always felt weird to me but I’ve heard mixed answers on this topic.
If you want to get faster run first. If u wanna get stronger lift first

what about fat oxidation? using the stored fat in the musceles effectively is at least as important in long endurance competitions as carbs. did you train your fat oxidation?

nick i wanna ask you something, does massage gun works? i want to get one but i'm not sure about it. especially after my workouts i feel muscle soreness maybe it would help me to recover faster. I'll be glad if you answer :)
Not nick here obviously but figured I’d weigh in my opinion….I use my massage gun same as Nick pre runs and before bed every day. I notice a difference in how my legs feel and think it’s helps recovery. Theragun is a good brand with a warranty they stand behind that I’d reccomend! Hope this helps
