    Everyone hates on it but I’ve driven Renaults on and off for decades. The stalk radio control is such a well sorted thing. It’s brilliant, it just works, it’s so intuitive. I feel we should all show it more love!

    • @philyvo
      @philyvo 8 місяців тому +10

      I believe, I’m quite sure really, the radio control was introduced with the Renault 25 back in … 1984 😃 and it’s been there ever since! It was intuitive right from the bat. I did own a 25GTX Phase 1, MARK I (couldn’t resist). Fabulous car! The comfort… and incredibly spacious, especially in the back.
      Front seats like sofas!
      Back to the audio part: the double DIN Philips 4x20W Radio Cassette unit (graphic equaliser included, how very eighties :) a very decent amplifier (especially for the time period) and 4 (or 6) speakers (dual cone) as standard. Not bad, not bad at all.
      The Renault radio stalk rules! I’m showing it renewed and therefore more love Mark!
      Take care,
      Philyvo

    “Euro NCAP says physical buttons will be “incentivised” in car safety tests from 2025. Car makers have been advised by Euro NCAP not to have important car functions on touchscreens, the idea behind coercing car makers to include more physical controls is to remove the growing reliance on touchscreens for basic car functions and keep the driver’s attention on the road ahead. “

    Had the car for a full day's test drive and there's nothing wrong with it, in gmfact it's a very good car. Some of the negative points the reviewer makes are traits of a bloke that has OCD rather than the car having faults.....he's being picky for the sake of it. Like many You Tube car reviewers, it feels like his verdict depends on what kind of mood he's in that day. It won't help taht he's probably stepped out of the latest Range Rover or Porsche to test this Renault. Like always, get yourself along and test drive the car you're looking at rather than listen to someone who drives a Porsche as his daily.

    Matt being a typical salty Brit while testing a great French car. Ignores most of the best parts about it, the best bits are "pretty good" at best, and makes up a bunch of problems that don't exist (like the door handle one or the brakes being too sensitive, which they aren't, or that the radar cruise control doesn't brake and would just crash into a car, which is definitely not the case, etc.). It's okay Matt, we know you hate the fact that the entire British car industry is owned by Germany, India and China, and the French is still domestic, so it's a way of coping to have to a totally negative stance when you review French cars and making up a bunch of issues that aren't actually there.

I think it is even better, if rear windows do not open all the way down, it adds extra safety to rear smaller passengers, it prevents to lean too much out of window. Anyway, while driving, you 99,9% of time do not fully open rear windows, so I do not get it, why it is so important to especially every time mention that.

      And don't forget after all the journalist tests are done, the car is put into sale as a used car. And someone will buy it because he will like the car. This behavior can cause future problems to the new owner. So why do the journalists behave like this? Just because they can? Because it isn't their own car? Because the car maker (or its subsidiary in the respective country) is supposed to do all the repairs caused by these "joking journalists" at its cost?

  • @ignaciopardo8963

    That wobbly feeling could be due to a structural problem of electric cars with flat batteries. Due to their flat shape, even if they sit low (and that gives the car a low center of gravity, which is good for handling), they are wide which is very prejudicial to one of the three moments of inertia. Unless the car compensates that with a very stiff suspension, which compromises ride comfort, it is going to have that wobbly feeling. Very few manufacturers have actually decided to go for narrower batteries with inverted T shape (using the space the transmission tunnel would leave) to improve that, but then you have a slightly higher center of gravity. Still, they tend to handle better and allow for better suspension solutions, such as the Polestar 2. Just a guess, I don't know the car nor have I driven it.
