It's so nice to see you making videos again, I just love your reviews. I also love the morrigan crowe series - I have hollowpox but yet to read it. I also have henrietta lacks which I haven't read yet. I read a lot of non-fiction. Recent favourites have been testament of youth by Vera Brittain, and well-read black girl by Glory Edim.
Ooo I don’t recognize the title Testament of Youth!! I’ll have to look that up. I always enjoy nonfiction when I pick it up, but for whatever reason, I end up prioritizing my fiction reads. 🙈
Macy McMillan is one of the nominated books this year for the Maud Hart Lovelace Book Award....which is Minnesota's middle grade state book award. So kids in Minnesota are reading this book this school year. I loved this book. I also want to add...that you need to try the cookie recipe in the back of the book. They are really good!
I read several books for non-fiction November, but my favorite was Braiding Sweetgrass. It’s a gorgeously written mix of a memoir, nature/science writing and indigenous culture. I highly recommend it and really enjoyed the audiobook because hearing some of the Potawatomi language spoken out loud was beautiful.
I always get excited when I see you’ve posted a new video! ☺️ I’m not usually drawn to nonfiction but Henrietta Lacks sounds so interesting! I’m going to have to try it!
Non fiction November...awesome and I did combine them with some lovely breaks! I read Gardens of Awe and Folly by Vivian Swift 5 🌟! Maybe You should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb, 5 🌟!, The Mother Tongue by Bill Bryson 4 🌟. I’d Rather be Reading by Anne Bogel 5+ 🌟 and A Fine Romance by Susan Branch that was an all time favorite! I listened to Lab Girl (wonderful) and filled in with Susan Wittig Albert’s Beatrix Potter’s cottage series (6 books). (Middle grade, truly delightfully researched, and written with images of village life. Very delicious!!) I should tell you we were working on residing our home with Hardy board and I did all of the painting, so my body wouldn’t let me sleep because of muscle pain...reading helped me get through it. I am so glad you posted, I love the Penderwicks, and both nonfictions are now in my library holds! “Be proud of yourself-you’ve made humans” not sure where that quote came from but take it to heart...mothering was the hardest time in my life! I missed you throughout Covid isolation, caught up on all you past posts and feel happy to see you again. May 2021 bring you many hours of kids, books and peace.
I HAVE to pick up the Beatrix Potter Cottagd series!! It sounds right up my alley! Thank you for your very sweet comment. It really means a lot to me! ❤️
Anne Shirley is my best friend in fiction! Her and Jo March from Little Women!
YES TO BOTH!
I didn’t love Henrietta lacks but hearing you talk about it makes me want to reread 😂 I love how you talk about books!

Yes!! That’s right! And I will, thank you for the reminder! I forgot there was a recipe in the back.

I know I’ve heard someone else talking about Braiding Sweetgrass. It sounds amaaaazing!
I have heard such good things about NEvermoore. I picked up book 1 and 2 recently and I am so excited to get into the series.
I know you read lots of fantasy-I think you will love it!!
I always get excited when I see you’ve posted a new video! ☺️ I’m not usually drawn to nonfiction but Henrietta Lacks sounds so interesting! I’m going to have to try it!
You should! It’s very readable!
I’ve read a lot more middle grade this year. It’s a great antidote to reality. The War That Saved My Life was a fave!
Middle Grade is ALWAYS a good choice when the world is in chaos!
I really want to read Hollowpox!
I was so excited to see you
uploaded a new video!
Ah thank you!!

Don't cut yourself short. Growing and raising beautiful children is very impressive to me. I read A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson. Loved it :)
Oh Bill!! I love his books!!
I was wanting to hear more ppl’s opinions about Fighting Words!
I read it with Krista and Amanda! I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!
I think middle grade may be my favorite new genre.
I don’t blame you one bit!
