If you type 'BBR MX-5 NC Super 225 2020 teaser video' on youtube, you can make a relatively recent Mazda NC MX-5s with individual throttle bodies sound similar to these old carburetted Alfa Romeos. I know its not a new car, but BBR say that if their ITB kit sales are successful for the NC, they'll do the same thing for the ND MX-5 and it'll have that similar sound to the old Alfaromeos.
I have a 2017 Giulia Quadrifoglio and let me tell you, it is the best car I've ever driven and owned. I'm a huge car nut, no bias towards any brand, and I can assure anyone looking at the Giulia will not be disappointed. I've put about 10k miles on it so far (bought it with 2k miles on her), and it has been perfect. Besides some infotainment updates that are free from Alfa, everything has been flawless. Nothing compares to driving this car as a daily. I've owned an f80 m3, test drove the Merc 63 s AMG, Aurdi rs5, Porsche Cayman, and m2 comp before purchasing the Alfa. Best decision I've ever made. The review you guys did was great. Maybe a more in depth review of the Giulia would be nice to go over all the driving modes and such for another day. But nothing quite compares to Alfa!!!
Same here ! I’ve owned my 2018 giulia quadrifoglio for a year , 20000 km on it now ( bought with 2000) and traded in my m2 . Best decision ever . No issues love the maccina
As Italian Alfa-Lover i really thank you because in a "simple" video, you have showed what is an Alfa, pure passion... Great work, always glad to see a 2000 GTV (and a Giulia Quadrifoglio)

You two are the best, you both funny. I love you. You're both my favourite car reviewers. I enjoy each and every videos of you two. I'm a proudly Throttle House subscriber all the way from South Africa🇿🇦
I have not driven the new ALFA but I had a 1972 GTV2000 with mechanical fuel injection and restored it to similar condition as the one you drove. I loved the way it drove and handled, sold it some years back and it now lives in the UK. Glorious is the GTV2000 (well all of them) - loved this episode.
I'm in love with the Alfa Romeo GTV. The induction noise. The mechanical sounds. The demur size and perfect proportions. The euro code H4 headlights. It's automotive perfection.
I learned how to drive in my dad's 1978 Alfa 2000 sedan with a double barrel Weber carburetor minus the velocity stacks (trombette) and later the US spec 1980 GTV Alfetta he bought with fuel injection lost a ton of power and the characteristic induction noise only a carburetor can offer. I do miss my 1990 Alfa 164 Quadrifoglio V6 which sounded great despite the fuel injection but this new car especially in the GTAm form is the best Alfa yet! Great review and comparison with that very valuable and original GTV well done!
This has quickly become one of my favorite car channels on youtube. You guys have great chemistry, keep it light and aren't afraid to give your true opinions
I leased a 2020 Guilia Ti Sport (fully spec'd) and have had it for 10 months now. The car I got had a little over 100 miles on it and has three very minor issues (steering wheel squeaked, speaker rattle with base, and one of the steering wheel keys was not backlit). I took it into the dealership and 2 hours later, all three issues were fixed. 10 months later, I've not had to go back (except for an oil change) and the car drives like a dream. NO issues at all. Also the character of the car changes over those first 1-1.5 K miles. Like the car I have now feels different than the brand new car I got (in a good way). It really feels like this car is alive .
manual doesn't belong in any modern sports cars. it bottlenecks the car's performance. if your idea of "fun" is a 1 second torque void between each gear, don't buy a modern car.
@@TheoryBreakthrough I respect your opinion and I myself love dct but the fact is sometimes it's better experience in getting involved with the car just for the sake of fun so please just don't get started with auto vs manual debate they both have pros and cons and are great in their own ways and they are still used at many great platforms.
@@Ballacha Your are absolutely right modern day supercars don't need manuals as they restrict the performance as humans we are not prone to mistakes but there are still platforms that still use manuals. Note : I my self love dct but sometimes it feels great to feel that clutch and stick, gets you more involved.
Discoloured Buttflaps Discoloured Buttflaps i agree. A manual gearbox only limits the performance of a modern sports car, but if you think pushing down a pedal, (something a 6 year old is capable of doing with no experience) is fun, then I think you’re better off driving around in a Tesla. Might as well let the car do the driving for you. But hey, at least you’re going fast because fast always equals fun /s
@@Ballacha Nobody cares how much it limits performance. It's not an intermission in torque delivery that is fun, it's the interaction with the gear linkage, the feel of the clutch pedal, blipping the throttle on downshifts, double-declutching to preserve the synchromesh etc. So much from which an automatic or even DSG transmission will distance you when driving. There is a fundamental difference between a sports car and a track car. The former exists only to be fun to drive. Only ignoramuses would buy one car over because it's a couple of tenths faster to 60, rather than for how it drives. For this reason, I doubt I would ever buy a sports car without a manual transmission. If you can't understand this then I doubt you've ever driven a manual yourself - probably just another ignorant American driving a Pontiac Aztek.
I have never commented in UA-cam, or any media for that matter, but seeing the old GTV just gave me goosebumps, I had the privilege of owning one a GT Junior 1600, which was just a dream, great work guys, and by the way the red button is for the defroster, keep up the amazing work, huge fan

I’m a bit of a car nut, and I’ve watched a ludicrous number of reviews. This is my favorite. Ever. It’s probably due in part to the fact that I’ve owned (and loved) two ‘70s era Alfas-and, like the experience of driving them, watching (and hearing) you do so left me smiling for reasons that aren’t wholly explicable. Alfas reach a place within drivers that is ruled by emotion, and rationality be damned. Well done, gentlemen.

I've been obsessed with old Alfas since I was 12. Desperately wanted a GTV, even the 916. It being front wheel drive doesn't bother me! My daily driver is a 147 Ducati Corse edition that I saved from Copart, previous owner crashed it, but the damage wasn't bad 😅 it's got a limited slip diff from factory, funnily enough it's the most reliable daily driver I've ever had!
My dad had a GTV when I was 6. I am 26 and I still wish I could have one of these cars. This is my favorite video on the internet. I am going to live vicariously through your experience here. Amazing!!
I am tickled pink with your response to the 2000GTV. Back in 1973 I bought mine new from Downtown Imported Cars in Toronto. Granted it had the Spica fuel injection system but also had this awesome induction sound. The car and I ended up in The Netherlands where I was told that the Spica versions were too slow. A Dutch friend of mine had a 40 DCOE Weber version and we tested both side by side and there was a absolutely no difference between them in performance. In 1979 I started racing a Weber version in the Benelux Touring Car Championship. It was awesome, and I agree with you that it is still by far the most beautifully styled car ever. Watching you guys also appreciating it this much as well makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Well done.
I love my red 🔴 2019 Giulia ti sport ❤ My every day commute is not the same as it use to be, it's something indescribable. The best part is driving around Toronto with the windows down and getting compliments every day from random people. It never gets old

The GTV makes my heart ache it’s so beautiful. Wish I could hear it in person but appreciate the quality of this video sound & sight. If you can’t afford the QV Guilia try the Ti as you get that great chassis. I swear I don’t know where she hides her weight. Will warn you that a track is needed to safely explore the limits. My only complaint is not having a manual if she were a standard I’d keep my Alpha forever. I’m heartbroken my lease is almost up. PS has been totally reliable, no issues other than wearing out tires ;)

This has to be my fourth time watching this video, the look on Thomas's face driving the GTV is priceless. We clearly lost something in this age of electric power steering and computerized stability control.
First time watching Throttle House... super impressed! and subscribed! Going to get stuck into your other vids ASAP! I bought a 73 GTV last year. As stock they are fantastic, but I cut about 150kgs off the weight, modified suspension and geometries... All I can say is there is nothing out there that comes close to how awesome it is to drive.
Very enjoyable comparison. Thanks for that. Too often reviewers take only a superficial look at these cars thus missing the most important aspects of them. When a young man I owned a 1971 GTV and now own a Giulia Quadrifoglio. Alfas are special.
Back at the end of the '70s my stepfather had one 2000 GTV Quattro foglio, a proper red one with black interior, and it was the fastest thing in the road, I remember that it overtake like mad and the sound was really loud. My stepbrother loved to race everyone at the stoplights and it was fast, fastest than BMWs, Porsches, and all the other stuff from that time.
My first car was a '72 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 given to me by my Mom (her daily driver) in 1983. I am just about to turn in my leased '17 Giulia Ti (non-Quadrifoglio). Even the lesser Giulia is all the things you say when it comes to driving on a twisty road. Thanks for the wonderful flashback!!

When I was a kid, my grandpa got me really into cars. And he always said that Alfas were his favorite cars. Back then I didn't understand it, but as i grew older i found out that I am genuinely in love with old Italia cars. My daily is a 1960 Zastava 750, a car derived from the Fiat 600. And even with its measly 30hp, that car brings a smile to my face whenever i look at it, or whenever I drop a gear and put my foot down. There is something about these cars that just sings to me. Even the tiny 750cc carbureted engine, a damn econobox of its era, has that maddening intake noise, that whistle over the screaming engine, that redlines at 7500 rpm. Wow what a comparison! Epic video. If ONLY new 4 cylinder engines could sound like this, the world would be a happier place.
"You must at some point have owned an Alfa Romeo" -A man of Genius
I did, it was terrible
@O 99 Bro pls you are not funny stop it
@@mothaybabonnam5632 You didn't get it. Not everybody does. That's okay, there are plenty of boring marques for you guys to purchase
@@mothaybabonnam5632 What model, which year, and why was it "terrible"
I have a Giulia TI Q4. It’s amazing, go with your heart, get an Alfa, you will not regret it even when you are going to the service center
Ricci Auto Collision did an impeccable job restoring that GTV.
As Italian Alfa-Lover i really thank you because in a "simple" video, you have showed what is an Alfa, pure passion... Great work, always glad to see a 2000 GTV (and a Giulia Quadrifoglio)
Really surprised to see this masterpiece of a review to have just 1M views
Can't help but smile not only watching this review, but all of your comparisons, track tests, and "messing about". Here's to the next 800k subscribers and countless more videos that make me proud to be a car guy.
wow... 2.8mill now:)
Those old alfas like that gtv are the most underrated cars in history.
What a fun episode! Great job, guys. Also, that old Alfa is making me weak in the knees. What a beauty.
Never thought a car review will give me goosebumps after the original Top Gear ended. Alfa Romeos are beautiful cars and you guys have won every car enthusiast's hearts with reviews like this. Keep up the awesome work.
The GTV had the name on the door sills even back then. That's really dope. Both cars are quite beautiful
What an old time classic. Henry Ford once said: When I see an Alfa Romeo go by, I tip my hat.
I say: When I watch Thomas and James Brothers driving, I tip my hat.
Almost 800K subscribe, impressive but not surprising because I knew it's coming.
Congrats from GTA.
Definitely Tomas is happy he is driving a classic stick shift.
#Save the manuals.
manual doesn't belong in any modern sports cars. it bottlenecks the car's performance. if your idea of "fun" is a 1 second torque void between each gear, don't buy a modern car.
@@TheoryBreakthrough
I respect your opinion and I myself love dct but the fact is sometimes it's better experience in getting involved with the car just for the sake of fun so please just don't get started with auto vs manual debate they both have pros and cons and are great in their own ways and they are still used at many great platforms.
@@Ballacha
Your are absolutely right modern day supercars don't need manuals as they restrict the performance as humans we are not prone to mistakes but there are still platforms that still use manuals.
Excellent! I had the Giulia QV for a while and it is amazing! The old Alfas are very special. Unfortunately I’ve ever driven an old Alfa but I do have a ‘71 Triumph Spitfire which is very much back to basics and weighs 1700 lbs! Another great video, guys!
BRO LOWKEY NOT EVEN GONNA LIE I WAS PRAYING TO GET A GUILIA QUADRIFOGLIO VIDEO FROM THROTTLE HOUSE AND IM SO GLAD YOU GUYS DID IT!!! LOVE FROM OMAN!!😍❤
That old Alfa is simply gorgeous
Guys, you really have the stuff to get to 1million subscribers really soon... The cars that you choose, just like the way how you do the reviews, the funny chemistry between you two and the enthusiasm that is coming out of your videos are well worth it. Love your work! Keep on going and thanks!
Definitely one of Your best reviews ever.
Alfa Romeo always was special...💙
This is the best car review of 2020, honestly! Tells you nothing, yet so much at the same time :)
One of the best automotive channels on UA-cam ! Keep up the good work !
My dad had a GTV when I was 6. I am 26 and I still wish I could have one of these cars. This is my favorite video on the internet. I am going to live vicariously through your experience here. Amazing!!
This is hands down the best video that you've ever uploaded! Kudos!
Well done.
I love my red 🔴 2019 Giulia ti sport ❤
My every day commute is not the same as it use to be, it's something indescribable.
The best part is driving around Toronto with the windows down and getting compliments every day from random people. It never gets old
The quality of videos, cinematics, knowledge, humor, angles, pretty much everything is absolutely top notch. I don’t know how you guys aren’t already the biggest car channel. Fantastic!
This is the greatest episode from you guys in my book. Thank you!
I hardly ever comment on any youtube vids but honestly I had to comment after watching this. That GTV gave my whole body the tingles.... That was magical
Two of my favorite cars, a lovely retrospective comparison, beautifully shot and on a gorgeous day! Well done.
I just feel the new Top Gear is born ... that synergy and connection between the two of you is getting there with The 3 Petrol Heads, keep it up boys 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
I was just thinking that, these guys should go to the Uk and run Top Gear for the BBC... by the way, incredible cars here.
This has to be my fourth time watching this video, the look on Thomas's face driving the GTV is priceless. We clearly lost something in this age of electric power steering and computerized stability control.
You guys keep raising the bar week after week with the content and production! Also, love that GTV :D
Boys I’ve been with you since day one. This is the best video you have ever done. Let the awards pile up. Seriously.
Best car review channel on TouTube. Sorry CarWow!
Haha Matt Watson is great too. I really enjoy watching both channels
Awesome review guys! The quality and fun factor are top notch! I'm also really excited coz im getting my new Giulia next week! :O!!!!!!!!!!!
Very enjoyable comparison. Thanks for that. Too often reviewers take only a superficial look at these cars thus missing the most important aspects of them. When a young man I owned a 1971 GTV and now own a Giulia Quadrifoglio. Alfas are special.
I must say I love the funny skits in the intro alot 😂 the acting is on point👌
Best car channel on YT. Please keep up this great work guys! Cheers, Rich.
Explaining the GTV's air conditioning: The technical term is "Two-60 AC" which stands for "two windows down - goin 60"
You're welcome.
So nice to rewatch this video after seeing that Thomas bought an Alfa Romeo Spider. Congratulations!
In a sea of monotone German SUVs, the QV is slowly becoming a “must have”..
Still people are not crossing thd barbed wire to buy one
Ok, someone think something' right.
💪💪💪
The Giulia QV is one of my dream cars. Alfa definitely knows how to make brilliant cars
@@sriramramamoorthy1589 ive seen three this week. Times they are a changing my friend
This is by far the best video I've ever seen. These guys made so much of sense to me well done
What a fantastic episode! The GTV is absolutely one of my dream cars as well. Such a simple but beautiful design, and that engine note... wow! Thoroughly enjoyed this one, guys. The other episodes have been shit. Just kidding!
Good lord, that 73 Alpha is GORGEOUS! Beautiful cars, the both of em! Great video guys!👍
One of my favorite videos from your channel ❤
When Doug Demuro has more subscribers than a truly high production channel like this, it just reminds me how shallow most UA-cam viewers are.
You guys are an absolute gem. Reminds me of the good old Top Gear days. Love your content.
I guess I have to turn in my man card...
I cried through most of the '73 parts.
So happy for you guys!
I switched my c43 amg for the giulia qv tuned it 550 bhp Ferrari engine rear wheel drive it’s an amazing crazy beautiful car , you really need skills to tame this Italian stallion wow 🤩 but that GTV beautiful sound and the beautiful design love it!!
Ah my favorite manufacturer with two of their most beautiful cars
Wouldn’t mind a lotus and 4c review too
I just came home from my work and i was very tired but when i saw this notification about alfa romeo, i cannot explain how happy i am. Thank you guys, thank you so so much❤️
These cars are really beautiful
Tired of the soap commercials. But, I appreciate Throttle House’s every episode. They know exactly which vehicles to review.
This is one of the best videos I've ever seen i don't know how i felt when watching it im happy because of the cars and because you guys are having fun and sad i feel kinda nostalgic even though I'm still 16 and never tried this i feel sad because the old 2000 gtv will never happen again and i wasn't there when it happened i wasn't there when the Tipo 33 stradale was out when the CLK GTR was out all this legendary cars were here before me and now they're gone and forgot to mention group B and old F1 old Le mans.
fuck new regulations
Me too. I'm only 13.
@@abalakrishnan4152 and unfortunately you'll drive a "phone on wheels" for the majority of your life probably, seeing how the things are going (at least here in EU).
Alfa Romeo is a Great Company and you guys probably just made THE best video featuring Giulia! So, so well done congratulations... 1 million subscribers not too far away
Damn .... favorite episode ever ! Thx
This so unfair !! I wanted a video on Guilia but when you bring such a classic, nothing stands against it.
I wanted the review for myself before I lease one of these but anyways I was going for the Ti or sport trim.
I don't know if you read the comments but please compare the non-quadrifoglio with the German rivals please.
And thanks for this amazing video!!!
This is Top Gear. You're the next Top Gear.
You can see someone that is truly passionate about cars. I'm glad to see that there are auto-enthusiasts still around. It's a great time to be a car lover.
Love love love love love this car. The episode of Chris Harris drives made me really want one and fall in love. I think that it was a superb review. Keep it up guys
If i didnt own my dream car already, I would want to own an old Giulia
Man, that GTV sounds just incredible! I love the '70s.
I'm fairly new to this channel but I have no idea why I never saw your videos before. Every one I've watched has been great content and I love seeing your guys' dynamic and your objectivity.
