Besides the deprecation of the ancient, original fleet from the 70's, absolutely *nothing* excites BART passengers as much as this latest development. This will have a positive ripple effect through out all of Bay Area almost immediately after implementation. Hats off 🤝
Yes fare evaders are usually the people most prone to commit crimes so combating fare evasion in this way will certainly help in keeping crime rates low
Would be interesting to see BART hire parkour practitioners to act as “white hat hackers”. This new design looks pretty solid, and it sounds like the emergency exits will now be locked by default, but there might still be station-specific ways of getting to the platform without going through the fare gates.
If only every transit agency in the world had these fare gates.
