Great video! I'll be taking a look at my 69 seat mech this weekend. In the video, Josh mentioned another one where he rebuilds the seat transmission. I don't think I've seen that. Do you have a link? Cheers
Sounds good! Let us know if you have any questions about what you find if it isn't already addressed in this video. As for the seat transmission video, that one is still in the editing phase and we are hoping to upload that one very soon. Stay tuned as it is a more in-depth, detailed video on the process. Thanks for watching!
great Video!! Thanks! Do you have a video on refurbishing the seat transmissions my seats move very slow or not at all.... I cleaned the seat switch that was in good shape. I can hear the solenoids click but the seat wont move Thanks in advance Joey
Do you know how to reassemble a soleinod for a 6 way seat for a 1957 Cadillac? There are 5 parts, a ball bearing, spring and two small metal parts, o e with a notch.
That was my problem rebuilding them. If the clips were rusted away, there were no replacements. Josh Maybe some time we can have new ones made, but it's a long process John
I have just taken out the power seat switch at driver side. I disassembled the switch and the lower line of the connection was broken. So I have to fix it with solder. I have had problem to slide the seat back and forth. Up and down is ok. This is at 1976 Eldorado.
With the switch taken apart, check to see if the for/aft contacts work properly. If they do not, the problem is a bad connection in the contacts or they are still dirty. If the switch works on the bench test, then look at the plastic switch parts. Check for damage, wear, or melting. Broken or dirty contacts can produce heat that will melt the plastic parts of the switch levers. I have seen this many times when rebuilding these switches.
@@Caddydaddy I have only tested the switch in the car and the back and forth is the problem. I study similar switches at ebay and found out that the lower electric line on the top was broken. This switch has been working good before. I will be careful when I try to fix it. Do you have this one in your stock? All the plastic parts is in good condition.
Followed your repair instructions and was able to bring back to life the 6-way power seat switch for my 1970 Buick Electra. Thank you!
Glad you got the switch working Robert. Josh

We have videos on seat transmissions and motors. There are many
different variations over the years, but they all work in the same basic
way. Josh

Now I have soldered the switch and the problem is solved. Everything work as normal. Thank you for showing how to do it.
