    Not being critical, I think I know why the main view screen is so bright... You opted to have the bridge facing forward, when it is actually something like 45degrees off. That would make it so that LED isn't right in line with the man viewer. Not sure if the bridge goes in one way only.
    Why did they offset it? No military reason, it was simply so on the show when someone comes from the turbo lift they aren't seen right behind the Captain and distract the TV audience.

    I love these videos. I respect the choice you made to center the bridges view screen with the front of the ship. I personally would have kept the turbo lift aligned with the turbo lift housing though. I know Ideally they would have had the bridge centered but they couldn't have people coming onto the bridge directly behind the captain. It's just a design sacrifice they had to make. One of many.

      I've thought about this and they could have easily solved this problem in a couple of ways that wouldn't have impacted the show or the budget. One would have been to simply not have a visible structure on the outside for the turbolift, just extend the bridge ring to be big enough to cover the turbolift.
      Another would have been to simply put the tubolift housing off-center behind the bridge, so that it would be in the proper position with the bridge facing forward.
      And if they wanted to keep the design symmetrical, they could have added a second turbolift on the other side. I know what you're thinking, adding a second turbolift would have increased the budget and complicated shooting if you had characters coming and going out of both of them. Not so! They wouldn't have had to actually show anyone actually using the second turbolift. They could simply have all use of it be off-camera. Just have actors walk toward it or away from it, cut away and play the door sound. Or simply not use it. Sure, fans would notice, but casual viewers wouldn't be bothered and all they'd need is a non-functional door.
      Or if they wanted to show it occasionally being used, they could have just filmed actors walking into the existing one and flipped the negative. Again, true fans would notice the consoles next to it, but most viewers at the time wouldn't have given it a second thought.

      @@lurkerrekrul These are all things they correct with the refit enterprise. Im pretty sure they use 70% of what you suggested in the refit enterprise set.
      But I still prefer the off center angle of the bridge. It just feels right.

    The bridge ishould be offset at a 45 degree angle setting the tubolift doors at the rear of the ship.. In all technical drawins and books of the enterprise the bridge is set to an angle it doesnt face forward

    • @The1stDukeDroklar
      @The1stDukeDroklar Рік тому

      That's only because of set design considerations when they shot the show and the tech drawings which aren't cannon anyway just followed suit.

    I noticed you didn’t line up your bridge at an angle so the turbo lift door lines up with the bump on the bridge dome. Was that intentional?

    • @The1stDukeDroklar
      @The1stDukeDroklar Рік тому

      I wouldn't. I hate the idea of it being at an angle simply to justify hollywood placing the turbolift doors where they were seen in the show because of set visibility reasons.

      @@michaelmappin4425 While that is true, it is completely illogical for the bridge to be at an angle and for the turbo-lift to not be directly behind the captain's chair.

    Use Orange Flickering LED's with Red Flickering LED in the Center for the Impulse Engines it would look much Better i know that because i did that with my 1/350 Scale Refit and it Looks Much Better then it would with just One LED Color.

      I guess I missed mentioning two things about it. The clear bridge I used is only in the light kit. The one in the kit is opaque, and it can be oriented so either the viewscreen faces front, or 30 degrees off so the turbolift door lines up with the turbolift housing.

    I noticed the bridge is aligned so that the view screen is faced forward. Did you mount it that way or is that how the model is set up? Because the elevator doesn't match with the elevator bump on the back of the bridge section.

      When you look at it, there is just enough space inside the bridge dome that you could picture the turbolift reaching the top and simply moving over to where the doors are.

    seems rather tedious. why not just spray paint the inside black and have ONE led lighting the whole saucer? It would be dimmed down and not so bright they can't find their way around their rooms (and look more realistic)

    That "bridge" part has 4 decks, 3 below the bridge. I wish someone would make the kits correctly. They've had 55 years! Thanks for the video. It really does look difficult until you break it down. Did you choose to align the bridge with the ships long axis? The internal turbolift won't align with the exterior turbolift shell though.

      That angle was determined purely for the camera angles and not what was ever intended when the ship was designed.
