This just makes me appreciate how well the Crew at TFS cast the Voice actors, they did a really good job of matching the original in their abridged version
This series brings a different light to the characters and the story, and offers a new way to experience Hellsing, particularly enjoyable are the soundtracks and the dialogue. Just because it doesn't follow the manga doesn't instantly make it bad.
The low budget and action choreography is noticeable. Like, if there were no combat then it'd be fine, never mind the oversaturation of certain colors and shades, not only add dissonance with the subject matter but makes it hard to tell the living apart from the undead for example. A lot of anime from the 80s and 90s looked better than this: Fist of the North Star, Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z/GT, Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, Saint Seiya, etc.
If executed correctly, a bad adaptation can be a good piece of media. The shining is nothing like the book. Does that mean it's a bad movie? No. It's regarded as a classic film despite being a bad adaptation. And a good adaptation can be terrible if we flip the levers. both are equally possible. I'm not as well versed in adaptations to have an example although if anyone knows of one that'd be great. Although if there isn't one that someone can think of, that may be a point of discussion in itself. Why can we not think of a good adaptation that is also a high quality product?
@@raptorlewis273 Just saying this was uploaded in 2009, your issues with the saturation and colours are because it was ripped from basic video editing programs and uploaded in 480p. In terms of art quality, I have no earthly idea what you mean, this series never goes as grossly off-model and poorly shaded as dragon ball and sailor moon tended to, and in terms of action Hellsing works within its limitations, there's limited animation relying on stylizing the sequences. It's not perfect by any means but saying most anime in the 90's looked better than this is just not true.
A perfect version would have Hellsing 2001’s art style, dark gothic vibe, music, character writing, and voice acting with Ultimate’s story and animation
Though Hellsing Ultimate is overall a better anime and follows the manga I still really enjoy this version. The intro alone is epic, the rest of the music is amazing as well and some fights and dialog is done better. The ending was the only part that wasn't as good as the rest, especially if compared to ending of Ultimate.

Fun fact: Luke Valentine in both anime versions was voiced by the same guy who voiced the... um... well since this is Hellsing I'm going to say the second coolest vampire: Dio. It's hard to tell since Luke and Dio have such different mannerisms and natures that they don't really sound alike at all.
I'm gonna say this about Hellsing: The ghouls should, theoretically, turn to ash when killed or shot. If a ghoul is a person drained of blood and became a zombie for their vampire host, it wouldn't make sense for a bloodless body to bleed everywhere when shot once. It makes more sense to turn into dust or ash.
Point for original. Plus the ash also helps for classification purposes, they can show more of the scene. When walter slices the ghouls up and seras shoots them with her rifle, compare the two scenes of that from Hellsing and Hellsing Ultimate. Hellsing shows more of everything happening. Hellsing Ultimate looks well animated but has fades to black, jumpcuts, snippets of the scene cut out and replaced with drawn out animation sequences. Ultimate is more of an art exhibition than a story.
I’ll always prefer this version of the fight because of Alucard’s enthusiasm, the ultimate version is more sadistic, but this one is more psychotic, and that’s the dealbreaker
This is a great fight and all, but that face... 4:37 😂 While Hellsing is mainly serious, it be havin' the most funniest facial expressions ever!!! Same with 7:03
Is it weird that I actually prefer this scene in the older hellsing to the new version in hellsing ultimate? I just find the music a lot better and its unnerving sound kind of makes it feel like you are luke valentine here.
Looks like a lot was changed from this Hellsing compared to the Hellsing Ultimate. It's interesting how different things can turn out once a manga finishes and is later made into an anime. It reminds me of Fullmetal Alchemist.
In 2017 I never really knew that they did an original Hellsing back in 2001. It's cool to really see how far the series visuals came to looking much more intense in Ultimate. Especially with VAs reprising their role and scene for the characters.
Are you saying it looks bad? Because this is some real quality art here. They don't draw anime like this anymore, hell they hardly draw it anymore. It's all done on computers and it's painfully obvious at that. In ultimate they blend hand drawn animation with CGI animation and it just looks sloppy. This is more consistent and the characters are drawn much better.
@@ElectronicsForFun they still draw on computer xD. the computer only makes it a tiny bit easy instead of having to draw on paper. but you have to draw on each frame dealing with a computer. so its actually not super easy how most think.
@@lRlElD "they still draw on computer xD." that was never in debate but I guess it's good we settled that. 🤨 "the computer only makes it a tiny bit easy instead of having to draw on paper." not really because a lot of stuff is flash animated and key framed which is when they use character models and don't really draw anything. "but you have to draw on each frame dealing with a computer." no you don't. most animation programs let you transform your character models so you don't have to draw each frame and sometimes it can make the animation looks lifeless or robotic.
@@ElectronicsForFun no. original naruto art, DragonBall art, sailor moon, almost any classic anime has animation that at the least doesn't look like a fan made knockoff. I’ll always prefer this version of the fight because of Alucard’s enthusiasm, the ultimate version is more sadistic, but this one is more psychotic, and that’s the dealbreaker
Bro what😂.
Alucard: “Release restraint level 1”
Luke: “Level what?”
Obviously Ultimate is the go-to. But dang this series had a good soundtrack.
I love this anime. Thanks to the girl who got me on it. I like the abridged but people are over commenting on it. I myself enjoy this
This is a great fight and all, but that face... 4:37 😂
While Hellsing is mainly serious, it be havin' the most funniest facial expressions ever!!!
Same with 7:03
Alucard is the best. Gotta love everytime he grins and uses his guns. :D
Is it weird that I actually prefer this scene in the older hellsing to the new version in hellsing ultimate? I just find the music a lot better and its unnerving sound kind of makes it feel like you are luke valentine here.
I forgot how much I loved that intro music
its from OST1 track 11 Mercy In The Cathedral.
fast forward the track to 2:45. thats the music that plays during 6:14 of the video.
7:03
Alucard: "sigh.... this bitch..."
The black hound of baskerville , good boy.
5:30 when Alucard says this is how real vampires do battle I wonder if he's fought like some ancient chinese vampire he hasn't told anyone about.
its OST1 track 11 Mercy In The Cathedral.
fast forward the track to 2:45. thats the music that plays during 6:14 of the video.
3:13 track ?
The team 5 star abridged series of this point is hilarious
Alucard is pissed as he shot though th wall destroying his new TV lol
Moral of the story. Never, EVER tease Alucard with a good time.
"All his vampiric powers" then starts running at the sight of real vampiric powers...so sad
This needs another run one with this song, one that takes its time and doesn’t rush to the end like the second one.
Looks like a lot was changed from this Hellsing compared to the Hellsing Ultimate. It's interesting how different things can turn out once a manga finishes and is later made into an anime. It reminds me of Fullmetal Alchemist.
4:12
When you sleeping and you hear someone open the door
Alucard pulled a “play stupid games, win stupid prizes”
In 2017 I never really knew that they did an original Hellsing back in 2001. It's cool to really see how far the series visuals came to looking much more intense in Ultimate. Especially with VAs reprising their role and scene for the characters.
*luke when he enters alucards chamber*
"why do i hear boss music?"
Gotta give the ova credit, had a killer soundtrack
Fuck Yes
I can't believe I used to think this looked good.
@@ElectronicsForFun CGI Colossal Titan agreed.
"the computer only makes it a tiny bit easy instead of having to draw on paper." not really because a lot of stuff is flash animated and key framed which is when they use character models and don't really draw anything.
You wanna know how I know it looks like its fan made? I had to actually ask myself "should I just go on hulu because I think I found a fan made clip"
Bro went up against a vampire and is surprised the vampire didnt die from a mere head wound.
Don't know if this has already been posted here, but the song that plays when alucard starts to finish off luke is "bodhisvatta of cathedral" at pretty much 2:30 on the dot. Hope this helps
Kisenu Dekigoto. ты про этот трек?
finally somone uploaded the original gg
I swear, Alucard is played by the same person as Hamilton from Ace Combat 5
legit alucard be wondering why he wasted 5mins of his time on this shit. and by shit i mean luke valentine, for those of u wondering
Correction, dog shit
@@z-man1237 fr xD
i am a big fan of both the hellsing manga anime and ova so i clicked on this video for that reason but the name of you channel is freakin awsome. tacoshitter! LOL! U R A genius.
Oh look, its the Kid friendly version of Hellsing :D. Loved these when I first found them.
"I have more powers than you"
*proceeds to not have powers*
I mean... Luke though that Vampiric powers limítated to strengh, Speed, Agility and improved senses
Then he literally saw the Devil and freaked out
@@sfmolten9251 tbh it wasn't even his fault. H was kind of scammed by people. He was artificial Vampire and whoever infected him for Incognito probably put visions of being OP like real Vampires into his mind. He probably couldn't have idea what true Vampire even is especially as not every true Vampire in Hellsing is as powerful as Alucard. From both anime series I know 6 of them, and perhaps only 1 alive was comparable to Alucard
@@Petaurista13 Literally the obly one who was a serious problem to Alucard was Incognito (who had the power of a literal God)... only to get killed by level 1 (not even level 0, just level 1)
And for the Allucinations you're definetly right, When Wilson ambushed Seras and tried to... well, I won't say that, we can see that his human body was severely mutated, but he didn't realized
He even tells Seras that she's just like him (which is a total lie), It is posible that the hundreds of Chips that ingressed into his body gave him a Vision of Seras being basically a false vampire or a toy for him
Incognito turned the whole S.A.S Unit using their best dreams (Wilson Wanted to be Strong, and as we see in his Assault attempt against Seras he also wanted to be... Attractive?)
To be fair, Luke Actually believed he was more powerful just because Incognito was basically a Scammer
@@sfmolten9251 Yes. As I've said Luke didn't have idea about how true Vampires are, Incogito was just creating army of puppets by scamming people. At best Luke was maybe comparable to Priest who was freshly turned true Vampire of unknown bloodline, but it's like me being smartest kid as school which had like 30 students. Then i jr highschool I ended up in school where most of people were "smartest kid at school" and it was shown I'm mid at best, with no real chance for top.
@@Petaurista13 Poor Luke Valentine... he though that being DIO in another timeline would save him
(Oh fuck... now I can't Imagine Incognito without being a greedy salesman from the TV scamming people)
yep and I gave you a thumbs up
6:14 músic name ??pleas
here you go: ua-cam.com/video/cDbutPBTjM0/v-deo.html
Help me find the song playing at 3:13, it's been years since i first tried to find this one. :(
Some of the tracks in the original series are lost
I found it here you go: ua-cam.com/video/3U-V6kgpP2g/v-deo.html
Does anyone else like the art style of this more than ultimate?
Me
It looks a bit creepy
@@cheerful_crop_circleThat's actually the main reason why this version is more horror based
For example:
When Seras Meets Alucard he looks misterious thanks to the shading, when he talks with Integra, Seras or Walter he's less Ucanny and more charismatic sometimes
Then, when he fights he looks like the monster he is, the Main attractive of this version is that Looks can be deceiving
so much better in english.
"Come on! You were talking all that good shit a second ago, then I blew your fucking legs off! What's wrong, demigod? Just grow back your legs! Summon up your demons! Hit me! Fight Me! *Give me a hug* ."
they say tv makes you violent, but I say me not having my TV IS MAKING ME PRETTY FUCKIN VIOLENT
