  • I was so excited to try the Starbucks hot chocolate and give you my honest review but then I saw the back of the tin states: Starbucks and the Starbucks logo are used under license by Nestle. From speculation, it seems to be a typical mislabeled product that is placed to trick the consumer. I understand that this happens all of the time and is classed as business but my main concern is that Nestle are selling us (the consumer) a cheap hot chocolate and dressing it up as Starbucks.
It seems that their goal is to trick the consumer (As I was tricked expecting a high quality barista hot chocolate but got cheap sugar loaded powder that tasted bad). My expectations were not high, and the fact that the package recommends five teaspoons of hot chocolate powder for 1 drink (22g of sugar) which is nearly your whole daily intake of sugar is awful.
The packaging is nice but does not justify the high price tag of £4.50, the product looks like the other cheap instant mixes. After the hot beverage was made it looked slightly grey and smelled very similar to the Cadbury's hot chocolate which is to be fair 'cheaper'. The taste was average with not much chocolate flavour and was overloaded with sugar. After a few sips I poured it down the sink.

The Starbucks Signature Chocolate 42% Cocoa Powder, 330g is a product of a collaboration between Starbucks and Nestlé. While Starbucks is the brand owner and the product is inspired by their signature hot chocolate, Nestlé is the actual manufacturer of the cocoa powder. This means that Nestlé produces the powder according to Starbucks' specifications and quality standards, but they are the ones responsible for the actual manufacturing process.

Rebranded Nestle dry chocolate powder. It's nothing like the classic hot chocolate they make in the stores. Chocolate and vanilla syrup, frothed milk, whipped cream and chocolate drizzle, none of which come out of a can. It's too bad the real thing is so expensive. And, the hot chocolates vary from person to person, depending on who makes it. The average is about 7 out of 10. 7 good ones and 3 not so good. A bit sad!

Alright re-did the math on sugar, nevermind, I thought 5 tbsp was around 100g of sugar, not even close. Still, so you need 5 tablespoons, that means you need a lot to make this crap. Just go buy nestle for $1 and call it a day, I mean $1.25.
