      @@themelodyofsewing6369 You are doing well with your quiet videos. 😊The important thing is to keep practicing. I learned a little bit of German in school, and while in Germany I felt that my language skills were very inadequate, but my friends appreciated that I tried to keep talking a little every day, and I would gradually improve. It would be good if everyone could speak more than one language. For sewing and quilting, the visual demonstrations are more important. Thanks again for your lovely videos and for showing us your finished quilts too. Best wishes from Texas, U.S.A. 🥰

    This pattern really ticks the boxes on using up scraps + putting them in a visually pleasing arrangement. Some scrappy quilts are just too overwhelming to the eye. Using the contrasting colors (blue/white) really frames the scrappy strip. Just love it. Will do it!

    I'm guessing you had to put the disclaimer about using the rotary cutter because of too many PERSONS being JUDGEMENTAL? I really wish people would mind their own business 😂. If they don't like something, look away, stop watching and move on already. It works for you as long as you are safe ❤😊 Just like I learned to press my seams open 99% of the time feom Lori Holt, Kimberly Jolly, Crista Watson and Crista Moser. Yet, there are many that try to say that I am wrong and my quilts will fall apart. My quilts don't fall apart because I use a small stitch length and I don't use minimal quilting 😊😊😊 You do you and what works for you ❤

    I am a novice with the sewing machine, but I want to try to make a quilt. This one so reminds me of my mother. She was a quilter and absolutely loved using any fabric she could find. It used to infuriate me as she got a little confused near the end, and would cut up her good clothes to make scraps for quilts! Now I so miss those days! Anyway, I found her old wedding dress (from 1942) and I'm thinking I could make a slew of 6" squares out of that! The main feature of her wedding gown is the gazillion buttons that run down the back and on the sleeves. I really want to incorporate them somehow, but I lack the vision for it. Any ideas? There is also a lace veil, that I suppose I could lay over the 6" squares. Would that work? Or would it be too busy? Collecting scraps for the colorful strips won't be a problem. But any suggestions or tips you could throw my way with regard to quilting using both new and old fabrics of differing types and weights will be appreciated. I probably won't get started on this project until the weather turns cold again, so I have plenty of time to ponder and plan before I start chopping up my Mama's dress!

    • @themelodyofsewing6369
      @themelodyofsewing6369  Рік тому +1

      Yes, you're right, you need to think carefully before you get to work. If you want to use buttons, then perhaps it makes sense to think about sewing decorative pillows in the patchwork technique. You can also use a lace veil for them. Thank you for sharing your story!❤️

I did like when you made the 1/2" shashing down the outside of the run of little cubes, and then putting the triangles on after that, it framed those little blocks in my mind. It’s possible to acquire more than enough fabric for quilt making without BUYING a single new piece of yardage or precuts. I’ve joined my local quilt guild and explained how I use only scraps and remnants. They can come from clothing construction too, which it is reasonable to make with new yardage. I want everyone to be responsible for using their own scraps but for now take whatever someone else wants to get rid of. I’ve been given more amazing fabric than I anticipated. I hope my projects will encourage others to buy less, or none, and use the scraps they generate.
