Yes it's a tragic location, hard to believe a government department was responsible. There are a few docos on youtube if you wanted to see more about this tragedy, it's actually shocking... Hope your not to hot over there...
cheers mate, I'm totally an armature. I tell everyone I just make the videos I like to watch. some story, some location, what to do in the area and the scenery.
Well done Mike & Team Leopard - your videos wouldn't be have as interesting without the interplay of family life. We are planning to head that way later in the year, so your videos are really helpful. Thank you so much.
thanks mate, glad they are offering some ideas for your travels... definiatley check out the forecast cause when it's wet over here, there isn't much to do. Spent the whole day in the caravan today, first time in a long long time...
ha ha, he's a trooper with those rocks alright... Sometimes he finds a rock he carries for 10 minutes for an upcoming bridge or ledge to throw it off. makes me laugh.
Always such a fantastic adventure! Happy Birthday, Toby! Hope you had a wonderful day! Have to agree, I don't do so well in a cave...get rather jittery. These memories will be priceless!! Just so fantastic! Bruce and Otis
I think we've seen a few cave incidents in the past decade internationally aye... I got taken down a pretty extreme cave back in my Youth, some tight squeezes to get through and lots of water... Jade and Toby love it.
Cave creek was real interesting more the fact that there isn't much to see there relating to the tragedy, there is a very small plague about 2km from the site, but when you walk in there isn't any acknowledgement. I remember it happening and being on the news for weeks.
Great episode team. We stayed at Fox river for three nights back in March. Its a beautiful area. Couldn't do too much tramping though because of my crook knee. But when we go back to South Island next year I'll have a new knee. We loved the Westcoast & want to explore much more of it. Thanks guys. 😊
Yea it's incredible on this side, so different, such dense forest. We've had a bad run of weather laterly, so looking forward to some nice days to re-energise us.
Such a great video, we loved exploring that cave, looks like you had an awesome birthday Toby 🎉. I didn't know about that site at the end of the video (will have to adventure there next time we are down south) looking forward to that 1 year living on the road video. Kat
I'm liking caves less snd less these days... myst be getting old... Cave creek is beautiful not much out there other than a trails for long tramps... the ballroom over hang is awesome though. Lots of cool swimming holes
@@leopardsgowild mine that i seem to be liking less and less is swing bridges (i managed the one on the gorge walk but couldn't do the one at Mt Cook) ill try again next time I'm down.
What a fantastic beach and scenery along the river, great footage of the Fox River area, camera never does do the size justice.. Truman track is just an awesome short track aye? The caves you went in are pretty big once you get through the gap at the back, but I’m hearing you about being not so keen… what a huge tragedy cave creek was, so glad it changed how the infrastructure is managed and maintained..👍
Cheers team... Cave creek is so sad... what a tragedy, incredible no one was ever fined, lost their job or held accountable... I'm assure there are some incredible spot to hit up along the coast in the next week or so.
Rata view POP is a lovely spot, we stayed there in March while we were on a month trip of the top half of the South island. Hope u guys got to see one of the beautiful sun sets from there.
Such a good pop, The sunsets I imagine are incredible we were hoping we were going to be able to sit out there with a couple of drinks before dinner, but it never happened unfortunatly. We'll hold onto our cool night at the Fox river, and I'm sure we'll get another good one soon.
ha ha, I would be worried about that, but he actually let Riley light the fire this time, although he was the one to tend to it once it was up and going... He's been throwing a lot of stones off bridges today...
More stunning scenery and Nikau palms. Glad you found that "trickling inside cave water thing". Sounds like you were channeling your North carolina self with lots of "Y'alls".😂 Cave Creek sure was a sad trajedy. Howcis Toby's sudden onset spice allergy coming on? 😅
ha ha, so Toby seems no longer sensitive to spice???? is that cause it's not in the food or because of the allergy? I don't know... Ya'll is the best and most inclusive term I reckon... Cave creek is shocking unbelievable its actually a thing.
Yes we've seen that set up looks good if you can seperate the tanks, which we haven't got... all our water has gone through a filter into our tanks and we can hold nearly 200l so generally we are ok on water, we can usually last about 5 days atleast.
I just did a short out & back on the Paparoa Trail. Beautiful bush and easy trail along the river valley. Apparently the grade 4 part of the track is further along & I wasn't gonna go there - I'd be totally out of my depth 😂
We are in the rain for sure, for the last couple of days. or weeks... Nothing to extreme where we are, looking at whats going on in other parts of the South Island.
I'd love to go back to the FOX river, such a cool place to swim, play, explore and get mussells. Our caravan has 2x 95l tanks and a 25litre hot water cylinder.
@@leopardsgowild Cool thanks! We are building a semi off road caravan/ tiny house at the moment and have 350lts of fresh water capacity so hopefully we can get down the west coast without needing to many water stops. Might connect up the down pipes to😁 Merry Xmas I hope you are in a good spot eating plenty of kia.
Yea DOC is responsible for basically all public land and its infrastructure so it was bloody shocking... every outdoor walk, swing bridge is DOC so that stuff better be safe
Continue to be with all of you on the fantastic adventures ...
Thanks Tom we are so glad we get to share with Ya'll our country.
We hope Toby had a great birthday 🎉
Everyday is like a birthday for that boy, he's always the happiest kid ever and super appreciative of everything that comes his way...

thanks for the inspiration mate... if you didn't say it was a great walk i prob wouldn't have bothered... Cheers
Belated birthday wishes Tobbster. We enjoy your rock throwing. Great job!

Another great video Mike and Happy Birthday Toby🎉 The Cave Creek walk would have been very sobering.

Thanks mate I pick the music I like 😂
Are you worried Toby is progressing from his throwing rocks phase to a fire lighting phase?! :-D Happy Birthday Toby!
ha ha, I would be worried about that, but he actually let Riley light the fire this time, although he was the one to tend to it once it was up and going... He's been throwing a lot of stones off bridges today...
