@@plingplong528 I already said what actually kills the player character, or specifically what destroys the doll Red. (Spoilers ahead) Pink is revived after 'dying' in the incinerator but lost the vessel they were inhabiting. Unable to cope with this loss, Pink creates an illusion of it to use while they continue with their task of releasing everyone from this universe of immortals. Frog mentions that this is what occurred in reality during the game's end sequence. In reality, Red was much like Geno from Super Mario RPG where they were a doll made animate by some spirit.

i come back to this every now and then, and no matter what, watching through this fully invokes dormant emotions. i adore everhood, and this video just servers to proove how amezing this game is while still leaving out the rest of the game for me to enjoy.
I have three things to say about this game: 1- It's te perfect mix with an RPG game and a Rhythm game 2- This game do a great job with mixing the 2D and 3D animations 3- A lot of bosses and songs to know what rhythm represents each. Note: I LOVE IT!!!
I learnt one thing from this game and i love the way this message was brought across: Death is not the answer. You have killed all the inhabitants of this world and yet they came back, when you reloaded the game. It even acknowledged that fact. The only way to set these immortal souls free is by uninstalling the game and not touching it again, because as soon as you reload, they all will be back in their immortal forms, because you didnt truly kill them. Nothing could. The only one who truly can is the player. Not the puppet the player controlls, but the player itself.
I think Oneshot has some similarities to this. Until the Solstice, your choice (save Niko or save the world) doesn't matter. But if you do some manipulations with the game files and start Solstice, you can actually free everyone. And the reload will be just a simulation via The World Machine, it will not affect the characters in any way - they are really free
There's something about this game that sticks in my head. As in, whenever I hear any of its OSTs, I remember it and all the characters. Speaking of, why isn't this super famous yet?
i don't think this was intentional, but the way the colors are balanced in your recording software made it so that all the black backgrounds in this game appear as the exact same color as the youtube dark mode background, which makes this unusually satisfying to watch. it's like the old old days of youtube when you could customize how the webpage appears on your own channel. like the fights are happening right here in my browser
A long time ago, there was a story about a world called the Neverhood. A failed attempt to create an Everhood. But life am good in the Neverhood. We wondered for so long; if this was the happiness of a failure, what would its success be like? Now we know. This is a worthy successor.
I finished this game recently and at first I didn't want to accept the route the game was nudging me toward. I kept apologizing every time I killed a character, and it hurt when they said they hated me. Still, it was worth it and the ending got me emotional. Such a great game with amazing music and visuals.
Huh, this game is like twice as long as I expected to be. Currently I just beat the quantam machine, so I'm sure I'm in for quite a ride. I love this game so far
Man, you need some insane reflexes to complete this challenge. Good job once again and keep 'em coming!! This game has also successfully freaked me out.
A mix of good reflexes, reaction time, and knowing what you can get away with when dodges attacks. Hit boxes are slightly deceptive with their size and generally in the 'smaller than they look' sense.
Idk what this game is but frog's wrath actually made me emotional even without story context EDIT: I have now beaten the game 4 times, and wow, how the hell do you no-hit stuff like cat god and dev gnomes?
my personal favorite battle, or more specifically, "battle" is the quantum battle, due to the attention to detail - uses stock music unlike every other battle in the game - most of his shots are aimed away from you, and the ones that do come to hit you end up curving towards you - his machine's doing all the attacks, and even when he does use that dinky little ray gun it's more to force the machine to do a different attack - the only reason he fails in the end is because his machine overheats, not due to any mistake of his own IN SUMMARY: *_DR ORANGE DID THE THING, YOU CAN'T EVEN REFIGHT HIM BECAUSE IT DOESN'T COUNT ACCORDING TO THE GAME_*
People are saying that the developers must have done psychedelics. But as far as drugs goes, this looks more like the kind of high that someone doping with adrenaline, cocaine and energy drinks would get.
In all my life of gaming, I never had a boss fight that made me cry at the end. Crying whilst dodging and shooting mind you. *Chef kiss* Truly one of my favorite games of 2021!
I describe the attacks in this game as follows: -Small Wave: Covers one tile, can be jumped over or Deflected -Medium Wave: Covers two tiles -Large Wave: Covers three tiles -Full Wave: Covers the entire row -Pillar: Covers one tile; can't be jumped over, but can be Deflected -Beam: Large string of Waves that covers one or several columns that must be dodged -Void Wave: Waves that can't be Deflected -Switch-Up: Waves that move across columns -Distortion: An attack that doesn't damage the player, but instead affects the HUD in interesting ways to distract the player -Jaw: Similar to Small Waves, can be jumped over or Deflected -Skull: Similar to Pillars, can't be jumped over, but can be Deflected
Aside from the obvious Light Being and Shoopkeeper fights being immediate favorites for their amazing songs and general context, I feel the need to say that GOD I love Zigg's fight so much. Everything about it is nearly perfect: the song is outstanding and it perfectly fits the vibe of a very mad guy trying to end you on a dance floor for a very petty reason, his sprites and animations are perfect too and feel completely natural for a character like him, and the general vibe of impending doom and final boss you get is masterfully crafted. Hell even the gameplay patterns flow perfectly and simply feel exactly like dance moves. This fight hooked me in immediately, and I'm extremely grateful it ends up being so early in the game, the ATM was cool and all but felt a bit on the cartoony and silly side vibe-wise, Zigg tells you that shit can hit the fan at any time. The one flaw I find is that maybe the last part is a bit too long
I just wanted to let you know that recently, you've inspired me to but this game on steam so I can attempt every single one of these amazing fights. I don't have a very good computer, so I've only made it to Frog 2 before hitting a brick wall with all the other fights. But I promise you that I shall beat every one someday, no matter what. You inspired me to beat this game, and I promise I won't let you down.
I'm betting that Grundall is Professor Orange's attempt at recreating the Light Being (due to similar lightning effects). Then the Masterpiece is obviously Professor Orange's attempt at recreating Cat God, since it uses that same opening music for both fights
Want another? During their fights you've likely noticed many of the residents that possess gems typically replace a sense with them; some *all* senses appear to have been replaced by gems. It's not that they've "given up" or "lost" that sense, they can still see and feel but the gem is how they do it. Here's where we get deep. During the finale sequences you end up with the Lost Soul's Revenge which also has your previous friends, foes, enemies, and essentially *every being* coming back to take a small swing at you; except enemies and friends whom all want *vengeance* upon red. *Their gems are missing. You took their gems. Keep this in mind.* While Orange exclaims that they now have not only the upper hand but *no physical constraints* to keep them back, they are *GEMLESS* without their senses. Even Rasta is blinded by hatred. *Every single being there is blind in some way or another.* Red through lack of agency as well. TL:DR? *For a game made by Gnomes it's real good.*
I just saw this. I know its fun and all of it but all the truths.. the last truth made me chill... and then smile. Sometimes, games can teach and tell more to change a little of how you see life. Masterpiece !

Would you like to hear an absolute truth?... Are you sure you'd like to here another absolute truth? There are many absolute truths, one of them is: For us, we live on forever. For you, it is only a matter of time. This life you have, that you hold onto, is subject to perception. It can be... Whatever you want it to be. No mountain too high, no valley too low. It is something to be cherished. To be /used/, and to be /enjoyed/. When you step away from our realm... Look into yours. Enjoy it as you have enjoyed ours, and your final day will be peace. Perhaps we'll see each other again. There is still much more of your game left to discover...
Whether or not Gellot did this on purpose, I don’t know, but some speedrun/nohit communities require you to see every pattern of the boss before you kill it (like the Terraria Calamity Mod’s verified nohits, who have minimum times or ‘must include every pattern’ requirements on some bosses). I doubt this was actually a constraint to Gellot, but it’s still unfathomable to me how it was managed, both in patience and skill. Most. I said most. So don't reply about Lost-a-lot or Rob and Zob.
I think my eyes broke while watching the gnome fight
Me to
It sure did. just like mine
I liked this game tons, but saddly not sure if my skills can reach so far ahead. Still it's a bless to have this channel to see these awesome music and sound effect in it's entirety. Thanks a bunch Gellot! you're one of a kind.

Gnomes also make a small cameo at the end of the Universe fight
When I played it the final battle (the universe) had me on the verge of tears for the symbolism and how epic it was, definitely my favorite indie so far this year
Random Fact: The Universe's theme is called 'Euthanasia Rollercoaster'. Considering the context of the fight, a very fitting title.
Everhood 2 is gonna come out

Green Mage is just....the best. I love Green Mage so much.
19:51 in a nutshell:
What the heck is happening, did we EAT the gnome or something????????????
EAT the gnome... *flashbacks*
I appreciate all the little respect things, not just finishing everything as quickly as possible, but waiting until the song finishes, or their attacks start to loop if it's a new song. I love that!
i like how some bosses are normal, some bosses like gnome and higher beings fuck with your senses, then the sun just goes "DO NOT FUCKING SEE LITTLE PUPPET"
And cat God just hisses at you for 3 minutes straight
1:13:37 Now that I'm rewatching these, I've noticed that Pink is missing an arm here.
1:50:01 But has it back here. Nice attention to details.
That's a neat detail! Pink's also missing an arm during Post Mortem, but that's a bit more obvious.

I'm not the only one think gnome is like a weird acid trip
Seemed like something someone going through a manic episode would dream about, if they ever calm down enough to sleep.
@@Doomroar The fight does occur during a sequence where the player character dies in the incinerator (which is what usually occurs during normal play). Which we can only imagine how weird death might be like before being reduced to nothing (going onto the next life, in the context of this game).
@@Techhunter_Talon in this run pc die from what?
@@plingplong528 I already said what actually kills the player character, or specifically what destroys the doll Red.
(Spoilers ahead)
Pink is revived after 'dying' in the incinerator but lost the vessel they were inhabiting.
The whole game is
you can feel how calm the man is during the incinerator fight
The best part about this whole video is that you not only get the satisfaction of seeing every single fight being down without a single hit on the player, but you also get to listen to the banging music in its entirety, plus their complete visuals of the fight, without any of the damage sound effects or visuals interrupting them
i come back to this every now and then, and no matter what, watching through this fully invokes dormant emotions.
i adore everhood, and this video just servers to proove how amezing this game is while still leaving out the rest of the game for me to enjoy.
I appreciate you showing as much dialogue as you can for each of the bosses
I have three things to say about this game:
1- It's te perfect mix with an RPG game and a Rhythm game
2- This game do a great job with mixing the 2D and 3D animations
3- A lot of bosses and songs to know what rhythm represents each.
Note: I LOVE IT!!!
I learnt one thing from this game and i love the way this message was brought across:
Death is not the answer.
Not the puppet the player controlls, but the player itself.
wow, that's deep. undertale had something like that too right?
@@yaviklam5368 i dunno
@@yaviklam5368 a similar message, yes.
36:34 when playing I was so focused on the battle I didn't even notice the little moves the scientist does for every special attack, so cool
This is certainly one of your more impressive feats, a titanic undertaking.
There's something about this game that sticks in my head. As in, whenever I hear any of its OSTs, I remember it and all the characters.
Speaking of, why isn't this super famous yet?
dude.. i heard a music track in here i have not heard literally in YEARS. Gunnar Olsen: Barge - it's the music for Quantum Battle
Just finished Everhood truly an experience there is no way to describe it
Shopkeeper has NO right to sound THAT good
i don't think this was intentional, but the way the colors are balanced in your recording software made it so that all the black backgrounds in this game appear as the exact same color as the youtube dark mode background, which makes this unusually satisfying to watch. it's like the old old days of youtube when you could customize how the webpage appears on your own channel. like the fights are happening right here in my browser
Turn the quality of the video at 144p at 20:48 for a better experience
My eyes hated it, my ears loved it.
Frog's Wrath just slaps.
They had no right to make a sound track that Slaps this hard and I appreciate them for it.
I can feel the UA-cam video encoder crying out in pain when the gnome song starts....
Hit boxes are slightly deceptive with their size and generally in the 'smaller than they look' sense.
i think the midway part where you gotta kill everyone is making me terribly sad, even killing the labyrinth monster makes me sad
Nah the labyrinth monster can suck it. That mf gave me a heart attack speeding to me at like. mach 4.
this game is like rhythm heaven, earthbound and guitar hero combined and i love it
Idk what this game is but frog's wrath actually made me emotional even without story context
EDIT: I have now beaten the game 4 times, and wow, how the hell do you no-hit stuff like cat god and dev gnomes?
i can give you story context if you want
Play the game and find out ;)

And I do be jammin

Same here:)
my personal favorite battle, or more specifically, "battle" is the quantum battle, due to the attention to detail
- uses stock music unlike every other battle in the game
- most of his shots are aimed away from you, and the ones that do come to hit you end up curving towards you
- his machine's doing all the attacks, and even when he does use that dinky little ray gun it's more to force the machine to do a different attack
- the only reason he fails in the end is because his machine overheats, not due to any mistake of his own
IN SUMMARY:
*_DR ORANGE DID THE THING, YOU CAN'T EVEN REFIGHT HIM BECAUSE IT DOESN'T COUNT ACCORDING TO THE GAME_*
Respect to this guy for somehow mastering all the tricks in this game
Its 3 am and I've learned absolutely nothing about getting flashbanged by the battles.
People are saying that the developers must have done psychedelics.
But as far as drugs goes, this looks more like the kind of high that someone doping with adrenaline, cocaine and energy drinks would get.
I’m just wondering how you got this information.
This game is a real underrated masterpiece
Undertale: don’t kill any one you where supposed to spare them! they had families!
Everhood: but with if they needed to die, to be free.
Thanks Chris. Thanks Jordi. You made one of the best videogames ever.
Lost Spirit's Revenge and the guitar part of Frog 's Wrath absolutely slap.
I love how the Brown Slim Mushroom fight is literally just a shrooms trip, lmao
What a game. It's theese little gems that put the art and the passion in making a game
EVERHOOD 2 ANNOUNCED
REALLY?! BOOYAH!
Though I gotta wonder how that story is gonna go.
> See "Checkpoint" in Zigg battle
Boy, that guy REALLY liked his drink.
In all my life of gaming, I never had a boss fight that made me cry at the end. Crying whilst dodging and shooting mind you.
*Chef kiss* Truly one of my favorite games of 2021!
I describe the attacks in this game as follows:
-Small Wave: Covers one tile, can be jumped over or Deflected
-Medium Wave: Covers two tiles
-Large Wave: Covers three tiles
-Full Wave: Covers the entire row
-Pillar: Covers one tile; can't be jumped over, but can be Deflected
-Beam: Large string of Waves that covers one or several columns that must be dodged
-Void Wave: Waves that can't be Deflected
-Switch-Up: Waves that move across columns
-Distortion: An attack that doesn't damage the player, but instead affects the HUD in interesting ways to distract the player
-Jaw: Similar to Small Waves, can be jumped over or Deflected
-Skull: Similar to Pillars, can't be jumped over, but can be Deflected
Don't forget green mage lightning attack
And the rainbow wave
Jaws and skulls deal double damage
Also, green mage lightning attack
The one flaw I find is that maybe the last part is a bit too long
I just found this game, i hated green mage at first but now i utterly love them!
Devs Early game : aye whadup wanna chill with basic beat ?
Devs Late game : okay YOU LITTLE SHI... time to break fingers
"Inject the Gnome song into my veins." i totally agree!

ive seen this vid probs 6 times over the past couple years this shits like a baby sensory vid... awesome job :]
Idk why but I love the post mortem theme the beginning sounds so ethereal
That's the point.
Just realized that the weird head in the gnome fight is saying "HI THERE MY GORGEOUS" in a glitchy voice (at least, that's what I think it's saying)
1:26:52 damn, the sheer DOMINANCE at display here
I just saw this. I know its fun and all of it but all the truths.. the last truth made me chill... and then smile. Sometimes, games can teach and tell more to change a little of how you see life. Masterpiece !

Yes that is indeed everhood in a nutshell
* so basically undertale but way better
Allow me to disagree. Yes, this game wears it's undertale inspiration on it's sleeve. But it still manages to have it's own identity. Comparing everhood to undertale does both games a disservice.
@@turretboi Of course, I was only joking, both games have their own quirks and identities and never would I actually call it an "undertale-like" ! ...nor a DDR like that is XD

Would you like to hear an absolute truth?...
Are you sure you'd like to here another absolute truth?
There are many absolute truths, one of them is:
For us, we live on forever.
To me, I only think about BEATING the boss, not ‘seeing every note it can throw at me,’ remarkable.
