For info: the indicators are placed there for a reason: it's primarily an off-road vehicle (hence the name) and the indicators help with placing it in tight spots. Other features: the panel gaps, which help with the stresses and strains of severe off-roading; the ladder chassis (although they have now made the front suspension independent); the front, centre and rear diff locks, once again for serious off-road work. The flat windscreen is designed to enable easy replacement in remote places. I've been interested in this amazing vehicle since I discovered it in 1985. It has remained largely unchanged since its introduction in 1979. I'm still saving up!
In addition: for off-road work 16 inch wheels are optimal, although they don't look so good in Chelsea! My choice is the W461 Professional from 2009/10. Doesn't get any better, although I'll probably go for the latest G500 when spending my children's inheritance, too old for the bonkers G63, although it would be fun, except for spending most of the time refuelling.
I'm in two minds about the G-Wagon: a lot of me wants to hate it because of how obnoxious it is, but I also BLOODY love it because it's so iconic and genuinely capable.
It is an incredible car and that. Truly iconic style, like a ship. I think I’d save £50k and get a GLS, and then all the Range Rovers would have to move out of the way for it. The glitziest Mercedes of them all is probably good for something too. Tall people would have no problem fitting in it either.
I mean, if my maths is spot-on and it probably won’t be the G class is only about 25K more than a defender 130 X (there in about but I could be again wrong). When I first started paying attention to the G class while I was watching the blacklist (it’s what turned me into a Mercedes fan to be perfectly honest) I was like I don’t like this at all, then we got to season nine and ten and it grew on me like nobody’s business. German engineering porn at its finest

I mention the indicators at a later point in the video. Thanks for watching.

It’s fabulously silly and therefore must be rewarded
I love them as a diesel or ev G
Obnoxious?
Great video, love these
Fabulously silly and great fun
I really liked this car
We know
Love this boxy ‘proper’ SUV
No compromises

It’s certainly a statement car!
@ definitely.
I think the G will hold its value in the longer run over a GLS
@ true. But you could have £50k worth of holiday in the mean time.
Great video and review!
You say there are V8’s ! You are driving a V8! 😊
I messed up the engine specs for reasons unknown. It’s now a straight-six petrol even though I said diesel 🙄
@ don’t worry! Great review! 😃
G500 is not a diesel. 11:26
Nice video non the less.
Duh! Not sure why I said diesel 🤷🏻♂️ might be because I was in an E-Class 450 just before this
G500 a diesel? It is a straight 6 petrol ash
You’ve clearly missed the several other comments where I’ve replied to this already
6ft2 btw
Rob does enjoy bragging about his height, irritatingly.

In the UK the G starts around 135k, then Defender 130 starts around 80k and I can see a brand new X spec one for sale for £87,760
@ i’ve obviously got too many numbers floating around in my head 😜🤣
G500 diesel??? Thats sth new :)
As mentioned in another comment, that was a slip of the tongue. Probably because I’d just stepped out of a E450d
