Ikr. It's just to funny that he holds out till the very end to tell them that he speaks fluent English and is also coincidentally is from the same state they are from.
I just watched his comedy act for the first time and immediately recognized him from the scene which I watched decades ago. He is truly memorable and incredibly talented.
Me, too. I remember that episode so long ago and then saw him the other day on you tube. I said it had to be the same person. My big question is this. How does he stay so young looking? That Designing Women episode was done a long time ago. I'm catching up on all of his videos.
This has nothing to do w/ Henry or Designing Women, but I have a good story concerning Arab, AL and it kinda fits what happened in this scene. I worked for a company with several locations across North Alabama, including Arab. I once took a call from an out-of-state business associate. He asked to speak with the owner. I told him he'd gone to "the Arab store". This guy instantly became angry and sarcastic. He asked me, "Oh, oh he did, did he? He went to the Arab store, huh? Did he go on his camel?". There were some other snide remarks but I don't remember them all. He apparently thought I was being racist, but he completely changed his tune when I calmly told him, "No sir, Arab is the name of the town.". :)
yeah. and on the plane back home, he said "I'd appreciate it if y'all don't tell my wife we all slept together" and the stewardess looks shocked. ha ha ha!
One of the first ‘bits’ I saw him do was about when he went to South Korea to visit family. He’s standing, waiting to cross a street. And of all the people standing there an American woman tries, in our way, to ask him directions. He’s the best, Knoxville,TN guy being asked directions in Seoul.
I don’t want to have any cultural experiences. I don’t hang around poor people at home. Why should I do it on vacation? EXCUSE ME. EXCUSE ME. Suzanne Sugarbaker is one of the greatest tv characters of all time.
I saw Henry Cho do stand up comedy at Jacksonville, Florida, February 2020, before COVID-19 became really serious. Henry knows how to be realistically funny.
One of my most favorite episodes. My sides hurt for days from lol after watching it, still to this day. When they’re in that micro-hotel with him... 😂😂😂☠️🙌🏼
My very first time to fly without the rest of my family, I was 17 and not at all worried about the safety of the flight itself. All I was worried about was that I had never had to make sure I was at the gate on time with no parent to guide me, etc. I figured once I got on the flight, I'd be fine, no worries. Then I got on, took my seat, _and a nun got on the plane next to me_ . All I could think was how in the disaster movies *THERE'S ALWAYS A NUN ON THE PLANE* . 😱😳
I had a vague recollection of the scene, but not the entire episode. Actually, when I did a search on UA-cam, I mistakenly thought he was on an episode of Golden Girls.
It's a tiny detail but reveals something about the character. Suzanne never pronounced the "L" in Julia's name, she called her "Juya," which would be the way she pronounced it as a child and it simply never changed! IT's basically a term of endearment.
I pity the man sitting between those two. (Smile) He sure is cute, and has a sexy accent. This show was so funny, I usually got teary eyed from laughing. The 2 eps though that were sad were the one of Reese having died and the one about breast cancer concerning Charlene. You Tube used to have many full length episodes of this show, but they are hard to find now.
I might be wrong but I think she ask Henry cho’s character is he wants a suit case - Gomen Nasai suitcase ga irimasuka?” Nothing about stepping on a purse strap which is kaban no sutorappu nu fundeimasu. However I love these type of clips - also didn’t this happen to Henry when he went to Korea with his dad?
I have a beautiful Korean sister-in-law. I lived in a small Southern town. When I was a little kid, I saw a 'Korean looking' woman in a store. I asked, "Are you from Korea?" Oh. my. word. Her eyes slanted even more, she raised her chin up, looking down at me, and in a hateful voice said, "No. I am Chinese." (well, okay!) I told my mother. She said, "Don't ask people that; if you do though, at least just ask, What nationality are you?" That doesn't work well either! - Henry Cho is hilarious.
I had something similar happen to me several years ago in Japan. I was at the hotel breakfast buffet and a young Asian girl (young adult or older teen) accidentally bumped into me. She said "Sorry" then realized she should say it in Japanese so she said "sumimasen" (which is a version of excue me). I - a Japanese-American - told her "sorry's fine", which shocked her. Would have really short-circuited her brain if I said it with Henry's accent.
He still does shows. Just played the Opry last month I believe. He is EVEN funnier now, than I remembered, and he works totally clean, which is nice, anymore.
What happened to him is that he continues to be extremely successful, videos all over UA-cam and all over Facebook, which is how I found out this weekend that he had ever been on this show in the first place. I don't remember this episode in the least and I watched it devotedly during Delta Burke's entire run.
In the episode "The Fur Flies", I can't believe Suzanne would even touch this coat, and say the things she did, about the poor little animals, that died, the way they did, for that coat. I would not ever, ever, touch something like this. That anyone could even think about touching, let alone, put this on their body. And, when people say, it's just an animal, need to be educated about abuse of animals. Fur is not acceptable. Neither is fake Fur. 😡😡😡😡😡😡
spookym123 You also did not watch the video! To bring you up to a more advanced level, the lady thought the guy was Japanese and was speaking Japanese to him. !
***** I not only watched the video, I also made this clip and posted it here. This is from a TV show, not a hidden camera. The woman you mention is playing a role. Cho's name isn't mentioned and he never says he's Korean, only that he's not Japanese. This scene is to point out both the characters' ignorance. Exactly how would they have known he was Korean? South Korean, North Korean? In the end, he's a bubba.
Henry Cho did such a great job! Keeping a straight face during that whole time!
GOD BLESS HENRY CHO! "I'm from Conyers,GA. I might look Japanese but I'm really a Bubba!" The look on their faces,PRICELESS!
Ikr. It's just to funny that he holds out till the very end to tell them that he speaks fluent English and is also coincidentally is from the same state they are from.
😂😂😂
It’s lovely seeing Julia brought down to Suzanne’s level every now and then...
Hilarious!
Henry Cho is actually from Knoxville, Tennessee.
Dixie Carter speaking in Japanese with a Southern accent always cracked me up.
I speak Japanese and I’m from Canada. No, I don’t stick “eh” on the end of the sentence. 🤣🤣🤣

I love hearing Henry talk about his relatives from Arab, Alabama and Jonly Bonly.
Yes! "What's that clickin' noise?"😂
This has nothing to do w/ Henry or Designing Women, but I have a good story concerning Arab, AL and it kinda fits what happened in this scene. It's his wife's family!! So funny!
I remember the explanation of Jonly Bonly. 🤣
@@monicacollins8289 almost sounded like he was singing by the end lmbo
That was a good scene. He was funny and handsome.
Still is both!
This scene shows what a great sister duo these two were-there’s no mistaking, it’s the most natural acting I’ve ever seen. They were epic.
One of my all-time favorite episodes especially when they all squeeze into that hotel pod! 😂🤣😂
yeah. and on the plane back home, he said "I'd appreciate it if y'all don't tell my wife we all slept together" and the stewardess looks shocked. ha ha ha!
How the HELL did I miss Henry Cho on Designing Women!!!??? Love them love him...whaaaaat?
It was just that one scene, but it's a doozy, ain't it?
"IS THIS THE BUSSY DOWNY TOWNY?"
"I reckon so!"
"Go mena sy" "GO--WHAT??" LOL!!
EXCUSE ME - EXCUSE ME! I so wanted to be Suzanne Sugarbacker
Remember this scene and how hard I laughed. Saw Henry on other stand up and really love his comedy.
One of the first ‘bits’ I saw him do was about when he went to South Korea to visit family. He’s standing, waiting to cross a street. And of all the people standing there an American woman tries, in our way, to ask him directions. He’s the best, Knoxville,TN guy being asked directions in Seoul.
This is still one of my favorite scenes on Designing Women!
This is one of my fave scenes on television EVER!!😂😂
I don’t want to have any cultural experiences.
I don’t hang around poor people at home. Why should I do it on vacation?
EXCUSE ME. EXCUSE ME.
Suzanne Sugarbaker is one of the greatest tv characters of all time.
Suzanne was the funniest woman on this show man!
As my late husband said once, "She's funny as h3/1!"
And that mask though… 😍
I saw Henry Cho do stand up comedy at Jacksonville, Florida, February 2020, before COVID-19 became really serious. Henry knows how to be realistically funny.

Which episode is it?
"When a southern woman walks on a man's back, she means it."
I remember seeing that with my mom when it first Aired. I dropped my jaw and nearly fell on the floor laughing
He was an opening act in Vegas...in the 90's...LOVED HIM THEN...LOVE HIM NOW.
Aww, I love him so much! He's just the sweetest!
And that.. was the night.. the plane light.. when out in Geor-gia!
Henry Cho is top notch 😂
Have always Loved this ....I look it up and watch it ever so often .......Love Henry Cho !!!
One of my favorite scenes.
Love how he takes down Julia more than a peg or two after she assumes he only speaks Japanese .
"I'm really a bubba" Lmbo
Henry Cho really is from the south, but not Georgia. He's from Knoxville, TN.
He didn't have a Georgia accent.
It makes more sense for the viewers, a lot more Asians in Georgia 😂
This episode was my first introduction to Henry Cho. What a wonderful and talented comedian. He should be more famous than he is.
I love me some "Suzanne Sugarbaker" !
No Suzanne, I’m worried there will be a nun onboard with guitar
My very first time to fly without the rest of my family, I was 17 and not at all worried about the safety of the flight itself. LOL. Julia was something else.
Henry Cho RULES!!!
I watched for Suzanne's entire run on that series and I never once in all my life have seen this scene nor do I remember this episode?!
I had a vague recollection of the scene, but not the entire episode. Actually, when I did a search on UA-cam, I mistakenly thought he was on an episode of Golden Girls.
Omg! That was awesome. He's such a cutie, too!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤ I love Henry Cho!!

Great observation!
That's just how some of us talk down here.
No, that's just how most of us southerners pronounce it. It's the same with the name William.
Oh okay.
I hear the l. She just say it rather quickly, and don't say it real hard.
I'm really a bubba
My favorite line in the episode...😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
I always remember this scene🤣 thanks for sharing!
This episode is one of my favorites.
I’m sure they had a lot to talk about Conyers and Atlanta are like 15 miles away.
Suzanne’s experience at the end was hysterical 😳🤣🤣
i remember this. they ended up having to stay in his hotel room.
His "shelf."
The original Karen Walker lmaooooo
That's actually how her character was based. She wouldn't exist if not for Suzanne Sugarbaker
So true!
I like that guy.

His name is Henry Cho and some of his stand up is on UA-cam. Really funny guy. I love him.
...that was TOOOOOOO funny!
I especially love the line about seeing the real Japan is seeing poor people. LOL!
"I don't want to have any cultural experiences...."
This man is sooo funny! Old time humor.
I loved Suzanne and Julia! :) EXCUSE ME!! EXCUSE ME!! LOL!!
EXCUSE ME ! That is my favorite line from Suzanne Sugarbaker.
He is very funny guy

I Remember this episode!!! I thought about it the first time I saw Henry Cho!
I think he is actually from Tennessee in real life. I think I remember him saying so during a show.
That's what I heard to. He mentioned growing up in Knoxville.
Kentucky
He's from Knoxville, and he actually went to the same high school I did; that is, West High School.
Yes, he's from Tennessee, not Georgia. Also, he's of Korean descent, not Japanese. He does hilarious, clean comedy. Love this guy!
Yuk this show!
Love Henry Cho😂
very funny clip..
I loved this show ❤
hes from knoxville tennessee 🤣🤣🤣

I love him.... Countryboy
He must have been really young here. I do enjoy his style of delivery and humor.
Vicky Guerrero needs to see this.
Yes
I actually caught his live act before this cameo. We were glad to see him then, and sorry he didn't get more exposure.
I love Henry Cho
suzanne is so me
I love that scene
Reminds me of Jennifer Anniston's Rachel was going on and on and Hugh Laurie ....
I remember him from this episode.
Thay was hilarious!
Cool so cool
@SillaWonhwa yeah. and I thought he looked good at his show in person.
The ONLY way he could've made that funnier is when he was asked to move, if he simply said (in his natural Southern accent) "I rek'n so...!"😁
ahahahaahhahaaaa hes a great comedian too
LOL 😂

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....psych! :D
There's no business like Cho business!
Suzanne Sugarbaker = O.G. Karen.
Correct on that description!
In fairness, this was done when we all thought the Japanese were taking over the globe
I believe they still are.
Not sure how the two are related.
LMFAO
I'm really a Bubba
What's this from
The TV show "Designing Women", Season 4, Episode 9. Aired November 27, 1989.
I've seen him in stand up he was hilarious what happened to him..?

Okay, but what the hell does that have to do with this episode or scene?
Cho is a Korean name, not Japanese!
Sorry, I'm not able to find the comment where somebody said Cho was a Japanese name.
