    Great, like how you measured the bed with the gauge

      Thanks for reminding me. I've added the indicator mount link to the description

    How heavy will the unit be approx once completed?
    Btw it's looking great Artur..keep up the good work!

      Looks like about 23 pounds before I add aluminum bed or upgrade to 400x400 print surface
      Aluminum bed will add considerable weight

      Thanks...20+ lbs not portable persay :) but still manageable. Cant wait to see the finished product!

      Well, for portable see my Printrbot to Hypercube conversion. That one might almost fit into carry-on space. For this build i want big volume! In case I need to print something big. Meanwhile it prints normal-sized things just as good as my slightly-oversized hypercube.

    Are you running the 300 by 300 bed from your printer board? I have just ordered one for my own large Hypercube and wondered if it will run off my 24v smoothieboard. I intend to upgrade to a 6mm thick plate and 240v (UK) silicon heated bed at a later date, but the PCB heater was £15 and easier to get me started.
    Also: I saw someone else had used two Z endstops and two Z motors with individual drivers to level their bed every time the machine homed. That might be something to look into.. You can't guarantee the bed is level after it has powered off. One of the Z screws may have move relative to the other every time. I'm not sure how easy the firmware mods would be to implement this...

      Nah, I'm pretty confident that my leadscrews won't move by themselves. Not gonna bother with dual endstops. But if someone sleeps better thanks to that, it's alright.I'm running my bed off a separate mosfet board. I thought i mentioned that already but if not, it's coming up. I have two versions of it. one for 12V another for 24V. I have 6mm plate too but for that I'd use mains heater like you're planning to. But by then i might go with 400x400 which my frame can accommodate. might as well.

    have you finished the 400x400 bed if sp should i use more thaan 4 bed adjuster for mine at 500x500 bed

      @arturslab7102  7 років тому

      No. I won't be going to 400x400 for a while. I want to spend some time working with 300x300. Maximum size my build can accommodate is 400x400 so I can't really give any advice on 500x500. I'm not even sure what you're referring to. Bed mounts? The ones with springs? - depends on what your bed is made of and how rigid it is. If it may bow down then perhaps you should use additional support if that's what you're asking

      You could screw down the bed and even put something at the middle but it means you have to use a sensor for bed leveling

    do you find the heated pcb flex when it heats up causing warping, throwing the calibration of your bed out?

    • @arturslab7102
      @arturslab7102  7 років тому +1

      No, so far. PCB is sandwiched between glass sheet on top and cork sheet on bottom. If i notice any warping I might add aluminum crossbars. I have a big aluminum plate which I was going to use as print surface but it is heavy and will likely take forever to heat up. I'll give it a try one day perhaps but really for that I probably should use AC heater. Maybe once I upgrade to 400x400 bed. Currently 300x300 seems like plenty
