I think "kelem dolmasi" came to US with Eastern european emegrants. This turks dish is very popular among russians and ukranians including russian and ukranian Jewish community

And it came to Russia, Ukraine, Poland just about two to three centuries ago. Turks has different types of "dolma". With grape lives, eggplants and str. The one with cabbage called "kelem dolmasi"
