The Palladium reached 104 degrees by the time DC took the stage. There were a few technical issues so the band came on a little later than expected. Fucking place exploded when they came on.
I will never ever forget seeing Angus come out of the yellow lit smoke, at the beginning of Hells Bells. Incredible moment.
    Def Lepard was the opener.
The heat was insane and just made the music better, IMO. But there was also tons of people who fell to the heat and were given assistance in front of the theater. LOL, it looked like a war-zone. Water and oxygen being given to people, from EMS and cops.
I went on to see the band 43 more times up until 2009.
Nothing will ever best this performance. Not even the 2 shows I saw with Bon.
Not saying Brian is better (to you idiots out there) but you had to see this show, in order to know. The audio is great but it doesn't do justice at all, compared to having been there.

@@kaboom2490 It truly was. In hindsight, probably the most fun I ever had, as a teen. Earlier in the day we partied in Washington Square Park, and also got chased by the cops, as we tried buying some weed, LOL.
Met Def Leppard about 3 hours before showtime. They were taking some promo pics in the middle of the street in front of the theater. Me and my buddies are in 3 of the pics, in the background. I have em posted on my FB wall. Great night, for sure.

You are 100% rite! This was the best AC/DC show I ever saw, and I saw Bon Scott twice with AC/DC.
I was there that night sitting front row loge, and I also had a sound video camera and I filmed parts of the show. I was 15 years old. AC/DC was the most important band in my life at that time. The crowd went so crazy. I thought the loge was going to collapse The floor was rocking up and down and it was 105° just like you said but we didn’t care! We loved it. Angus Young undeniably the greatest performer in the history of rock music. In my opinion. Nobody gave more than Angus did.
I had the pleasure to meet the band too, and they were the nicest guys I’ve ever met in the music business.

I am pretty sure I was at this show. I was 16. It was my very 1st concert of this level. Incredible. Still stands as the best show I ever went to. We watched the mezzanine level go up and down swaying with the packed house. Def Leppard opened for them. I grabbed Angus' arm when they came down my aisle on Brian Johnsons shoulders. Security almost punched me in the face! Across the street was a bar that was blasting AC/DC and serving pitchers to all of us (again, I was 16) no other show had everything like this one. Me and my friends still talk about it.

I was up in that balcony on the right side, right next to one of the guys working the huge spotlights. The swaying was freaking everyone put but it didn't matter. The fucking band was on total fire.
I remember the heat that night. It was 104 degrees inside the Palladium and 94 outside. Remember the people on the floor in front of the theater, getting water and oxygen, from the cops and EMS?
Best night of rock and roll ever.

Shook Me finally made its way to the masses, around October, of 1980. Cos I saw them in October of 80, at Nassau Coliseum and it was in the set list, by that time. All over the radio, too.

1/8/1980 is how every country other than America writes 1st August 1980, not 8th January. I think that may have been the confusion. Although with your user name, I’d guess you were Aussie, Mad Max!
