Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY , we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. #Vanlife was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎

Hi Kara and Nate. My name is Mounir and I live in Allentown Pennsylvania. After watching this video which led you to visit a Bolivian community in Virginia, I wanted to extend an invitation to come visit Allentown Pennsylvania, home to one of the biggest Syrian communities in the US! Since you guys weren’t able to visit Syria due to the war in the past couple of years, I thought it would be a great idea if you would be willing to give the Syrian culture a try lol. My aunt has owned/ran a Syrian restaurant in the heart of Allentown for more than 30yrs, we’d love to have you over for some great middle eastern food. It would be nice for ppl to learn about our culture, which has been covered up by the war. I really appreciate everything you guys do, hope to speak with you soon!

Seeing the communities that people build here in the US that bring bits of their ancestry and homeland here. It helps to show that these people are just normal people enjoying life and combining their native cultures with what we have here. It helps to enrich everyone.

The DMV area is also home to the 2nd largest population of Salvadorians outside of El Salvador. First being LA. We also do these community meetups to raise money for either community members in need or mainly to send back home to fix the infrastructure in their respective villages or Cantons as we call it. Like running water to homes, electricity or create schools.

I was born and raised with walking distance of that Luzmary, and I have to say this video is so Northern Virginia. It truly captures how the world comes to you when you live here. I've been at a shopping center in Northern Virginia that had restaurants from 5 different continents. You two should hop on the Metro (the underground stations are very photogenic) and do D.C. for your next video. Check out the free museums and the Kennedy Center. Sometimes the military bands do free outdoor concerts, too. Also, the area around Great Falls (back in Virginia) has some of the greatest kayakers in the world.

Hi kara and Nate I think that it is great that your visting all 50 states! but virginia being my homestate I feel like there are so many culturally virginian things to do here. Don't get me wrong that bolivian community was awesome. But virginia is just packed with Virginians own style of adventure. Like the truly louisanan crawdad farm. Sorry if i come across as critical but that is not my goal. Keep sending us adventures thanks ps. If you do decide to go to anywhere else in virginia i recommend grayson highlands campground.

This bought back such a wonderful memory of when I dated a Columbian girl in Queens NY, we went to 6 different authentic Columbian markets and she bought a few things from each one. Then we went to a park and sat by the lake, she fed me a small piece of each and explained the history of it, such an awesome day, Thanks for sparking that memory :)

Possible fun fact: I come from a town in North Carolina called Bolivia. The popular theory is that it was named after the country in South America because so many boxes addressed to Bolivia were transported through the area since it's near some major ports. There's nothing to do there so I don't necessarily recommend visiting it but there's other towns nearby that are pretty cool.
