I hope those young kids appreciate the knowledge that they are getting for free. No school in the world can teach you what you can learn every day in the job site. Plus it seems that you have the patience to explain things.. Thank you for sharing your knowledge Sr.
I've been a carpenter for over 30 years. I have to say Ken, you are one of the nicest guys. Also it looks like you can still out work any of those young guys. Great job. Always look forward to your videos.
I do enjoy your videos. You craftmenship is always top notch. Most of all I enjoy your worksite. Always organized but most of all no yelling. I enjoy your soft spoken demeanor. I enjoy listening to you. Stay safe
When ever I want to watch a great video Ken I come to your channel. I have dabbled in building for over 50 years building houses, garages and out buildings I am not a carpenter in fact I was in law enforcement but always found a great deal of satisfaction building. Great video's by a great guy, keep it up.
As the younger generation say. You've got the skills to pay the bills lol. Another fine build. You know why I enjoy your videos? Because you're an honest man with an honest company doing real construction work . I can't tell you how many crooks we have here in the greater Houston, Texas area that take good folks for granted and never complete a job. Especially after a bad hurricane. God bless you and your crew for being stand up guys and doing a thorough job time in and time out even if it's snowing
Greetings from northern California! Lydonville, Vermont brings back memories. February 1971, my school played the Lydon State ice hockey squad. We defeated them 5 to 2 and I scored my first hat trick. I played nearly the entire game switching from right wing to right defense and played on the power play and penalty killing team. The Lydon team played their games in a large quonset hut with natural ice. It was a nice facility and a lovely school. Only played hockey there once. Haven't been in Vermont since 1993. Also played Lydon in soccer four times, twice in Lydonville, twice I played GK. We alwzys defeated them in soccer. Always liked Vermont. I went to school in neighboring New Hampshire. I don't miss the snow. It was 88 degrees today.
Ken I find watching your uploads and approach to work exhilarating. When I’m stressed from my own job you help to pull me back. I’m living in Ireland but would gladly travel just to be on site (making coffee) just taking in the environment and your approach to work. 🇮🇪
You really have an efficient system! I have to say you seem to make every move count . What a joy to watch! I’ve been a carpenter for over 30 years and there is so much to say about efficiency !! Keep up the good work!!
0:15 you got photo bombed Ken, haha!!!😆 I'm just in awe of your craftsmanship Ken and Crew. I'd love to see you guys finish this one, i believe you mentioned the owner was going to complete it. I could honestly live in one of your garages Ken, that is, over top of the garage😂. Y'all have a Blessed weekend my friend, another AWESOME job!!! 👍👍 ☆Jay☆
There are some videos that I click the like button before I even watch them, so I don't forget. This is a video I can click at the beginning because I know it's going to be good.
Beautiful job my brother, I look forward to ur videos every Friday. Thank u for giving us an insight into ur business and ur mind. U r appreciated, cheers!!!
High Quality and you definitely know what you are doing and you give your clients the best price you can. Wish we had you as a choice here in the upper midwest (SE Michigan)
I’m using my stimulus check to pay a portion of my income taxes. I used my last two stimulus checks to help pay my property taxes. Seems like the most appropriate use for me. Luv your channel Ken. Thanks!
I’ve always called those “Things” stair dogs that you put on your framing square to mark out stair stringers and your right, theyvhelp a ton!! Another great job Ken ! I’m proud of you and your crew buddy!!
I've always called them stair buttons. Just one of those things that I have no idea about what they are really called (just like the plastic wraps on the ends of shoe laces - what are they called?).
Kens Karpentry lol, I do that all the time these days Ken. Theres tools out here I’ve used almost 40 years now and I go to talk to someone and suddenly I can’t remember the name for those retractable measuring sticks we clip on our belts and I’ve got a whole truck of them and I like using the red ones cause I can see it better if I set it down and don’t clip it back on my belt. It sure sucks getting older brother!! And it’s not just tools but I also have trouble with names and all kinds of things. I have to set tools down in one central spot every time otherwise I’ve just lost them for the next couple hours! Lol!!. And you and I have got to be close to the same age, I’ll be 56 next Thursday which is entirely too young to be having these issues damn it!! Well, take care Ken and be safe out there Brother!! I hope your memory loss isn’t as bad as mine is so far cause this absolutely sucks!!!!! 😤🤪🤬😜 LoL
As always I can't wait for your, our next project. Looks great. I feel like I am part of your team Ken. Wish I really was. You have such a gentle voice.
I hope I live long enough to get out of this 140yr old Colonial Duplex I own now and live in something like this. I'm tired of taking care of this maintenance nightmare. Excellent video, thumbs up.
Man, I know you've been doing this for some time, but your work is impeccable! I've watched several of your videos and every time I watch a new one I am amazed! I wish one day you could build a garage for me in CT. Anyway, keep doin what you all do!
I've watched a lot of your videos (they're great), but I have to say putting those gable ends up and hollering "I'm letting go" when you're already 8ft away has given me the best laugh yet!
Kenny your apprentice is doing well, and it looks like you have another now. It's really nice that you are able to pass it on man. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. It's weird that I do this all day and still watch it when Im at home too. You make it entertaining.
Love how you built those stairs and the stair landing. Excellent work! Look so easy when you know what you're doing! Very clean-looking wood framing construction.
When I built with knee walls, I always built the walls with a flat top plate and cut an extra "bird's mouth" in the rafter to fit that location. "Different strokes for different folks"......lol. Both of our construction methods are used, but yours is the most used.
Not sure what it’d take structurally, but with a view like that.. I would’ve put a WAY bigger window in that gable end... heck make the whole thing transparent. Gorgeous view, great work. Thanks for the vid 👍🏾
Ken another great garage build! If you were in the North West I would have you build a garage next to my house! As always I am looking forward to the next video!
A couple of things. I'd cut my lookouts, overhangs back to my next rafter for strength. I'd sheet the 2nd floor walls before you tilted them up, way easier. Another thing, I wish i had a building like that. :-) Nice job!
Hello, it's ok Kan, I really admire your work, I learned a lot watching your videos, I'm Brazilian and I'm very interested in this type of wooden construction. I will start a garage and when I make videos I will send you, hugs and keep posting your videos, they are very good.
Ken, I enjoy watching your videos and appreciate your craftsmanship. My wife on the other hand hates when I watch them because the music is always louder than your narration so I'm always turning the volume up and down. The on person mic has been a huge improvement though; keep up the great work!
Stair building seems to be a science all it's own. Wondering if sometime if you could do just a detail video on how to measure, for any step height, and run. Beautiful work, if I was younger I'd volunteer to just be an intern. Nothing like hands on learning.
13:28 On my first framing job the first thing they taught me is keep your hand back 9 inches from the plate when holding a stud to avoid wild nails from the nail gun.
i'm like the 6th viewer.. video uploaded like 3 minutes ago.. awesome ! very cool that you have your boys working with you ( and daughter, i saw her once i think ). talk about the best job in the world.
I built a cape style shed. 16x24. The only thing I did somewhat differently is that my knee-wall is simply an extension of my side walls. 9-12 pitch. I'd love to have one this size -- maybe when I get around to building a garage.
Great job and you have a good team who just do ezzacly as you say. I thought that 'Letting go' when you're across the floor already is a good way to keep the lads on their toes! Thanks for all your videos, Ken, they're informative and entertaining and you can't get better than that.
Wow I’m putting up a similar size attached garage, with a mud room and farmers porch. Custom build design house quoted me 125k! 🤦♂️ Working with another custom builder and is at 80k and we will do all the finish work ourselves. I’ve got the funding in place but have decided to hold off till next spring hoping materials prices will come back down by then.
I know that if you go looking for Ken on one of his jobs, that he will be the one at the highest point. I like that as he and his crew worked on it, it became a platform to work on the upper level, at least until the metal roofing required some to go on top of the roof. He is reminding folks to like and subscribe, too. I suppose some parts and doors, etc., have been delayed due to precautions at suppliers because of distancing issues. Ken's crew, they all know what to do.
Ken would love to see a proper measure technique and cutting/saw method to get accurate sized framing so important to accomplish the fine looking craftmanship of your work!
Here's one for you I have never seen, but used on my house..instead of toenailing the plate like you did to keep it on the line...use some duct strap...screw it to the subfloor or tapcon to slab and bend up onto the plate and nail/screw...when you are done...cut loose with grinder from the inside...you will have absolute zero change/positive hold to your plate location. Also, how do you like those simpson joist spacers...I didn't like them at first, but used them on my recent garage...great for solo working!
Awesome garage! I like how you used gussets and collar ties instead of running a ridge beam. Seems faster and cheaper too. Is that because it is a garage versus a house? Appreciate you going through the detail on the stairs too.
I thoroughly enjoy your videos and would like to build my own shop one day soon I am wondering if you would supply a list of materials needed to build this Cape style shop? Thank you so much for your inspirational videos and keep up the great job.

I've come to realize Ken is the Bob Ross of garages.
Haha funny
I bet he's related to Bob Ross, same sunny disposition.

Haha

I have so much respect for your work, well done.
Thanks for watching
Ken love your work! Would've like to see you talk about the gusset plates you used in detail, I see they looked diamond shaped which were nice.
That's amazing. I imagine I would screw up a stair stringer or two until I got used to thinking it through.
Thank you for sharing
Ken, I enjoy watching your videos and appreciate your craftsmanship. My wife on the other hand hates when I watch them because the music is always louder than your narration so I'm always turning the volume up and down. The on person mic has been a huge improvement though; keep up the great work!

Great video my friend. I hope they put the furniture in before it's closed in they might not make the turn on stairs ...lol 😎
Haha
Let me know when you'll be building in the S.E. Tennessee area and we'll schedule a build with ya! LOL
Stair building seems to be a science all it's own. Wondering if sometime if you could do just a detail video on how to measure, for any step height, and run. Beautiful work, if I was younger I'd volunteer to just be an intern. Nothing like hands on learning.

I swear that you and your team can read each others thoughts .You all work like a well oiled machine .

I'd be happy to live in the room above the garage!
Lots of room
Seems like a great guy 2 hire and to be on a project
Thanks
I like this one...lots of storage.
Thanks

10:17 A C-clamp would make pulling up that roof metal a little easier. But a strong grip works as well.
Awesome job!
Thanks
Another excellent video
Thanks
Great Build!
Thanks
That's a lot of building for under 30K. Very Nice. 👍
Thanks
That looks great ken.
Thanks
Awesome garage! I like how you used gussets and collar ties instead of running a ridge beam. Seems faster and cheaper too. Is that because it is a garage versus a house? Appreciate you going through the detail on the stairs too.
that's what you call a 'bare bones' special! looks good.
Thanks
I would love that for a house! Living room, kitchen and bathroom downstairs with the upstairs one big bedroom. That would be sweet!
Thanks
Looks great.
Thanks
Very nice simple design but if this was mine ...i would have gone with large windows at the gable ends upstairs for a great view while sitting down .
I thoroughly enjoy your videos and would like to build my own shop one day soon I am wondering if you would supply a list of materials needed to build this Cape style shop? Thank you so much for your inspirational videos and keep up the great job.
Thanks
