- In this video of Sons of The Forest, I present the full update analysis of the full release update aka v1.0
If you have watched all 5 parts, I have added new stuff in here that I had time to add. Though not major if you wish to skip this one.
00:00 - Introduction
00:39 - New title scene details, visuals & music
00:59 - Previous save warning & recommendation of starting a fresh save to experience the story & new features
01:50 - Added dying tactical soldiers with red flares that can be seen from a distance to help direct players towards locations
02:28 - Added new findable Tactical and Worker dudes with GPS locators that appear when nearby, helping direct players towards interesting locations
03:15 - Added new world details, more paths, partially dug tunnels by excavators, new Jianyu camps, 14 new mini caves and cellars
03:42 - Jianyu helicopters will now take off and leave from bases around map, & may occasionally hover over player structures to check on them
03:53 - Added campfire smoke plumes to villages that can be seen from a distance & will go out if there are no enemies there to tend to the fire

06:01 - Added extra snow sled to help direct players from snow crash to the first ice cave
06:43 - Lakes will now visibly freeze when players are nearby

Yeah, they should have released it now imo. I guess without the community feedback it would not be as polished by now tho
@@lactomedam33 and they would have had no money to do it, the early access has been something like the 5th game for earnings in 2023 (right behind an harry potter game)
@@matte_08 Very true. I guess I'm just mad at devs releasing games unfinished. Many release their games labeled as finished when they are actually not. ENDNIGHT never said sotf was tho. It was clear that it was an early access.

@@lactomedam33 yup 100%, one of the few games nowadays that releases an early access as exactly what its meant to be, not calling it early access but its actually a half assed full release, they released this early access so they can get a ton of feedback from the community and improve the game with both their own ideas and the communities, and thats exactly what they did! im so glad i bought this game the day of release, so worth it and ill gladly pay for dlcs/expansion packs if they are done properly and handled as well as this game has been so far

I am very thankful that they improved the oysters as much as they did. 10 oysters in my experience can take you from almost thirsty and starving to completely full on both meters!
In fact, my favorite base building spot is even more so the spot on the north beach next to the two tents with the dead tactical soldier. Building in the ocean, especially using the new platform blueprints, get you an impregnable base that mutants cannot attack, an eternal supply of oysters, several suitcases that if you have it turned on will respawn, As well as a cannibal base to raid right around the corner, and a cliff, absolutely loaded with trees. The worst part about it is perhaps having to drive to the stream, but even that part is amazingly manageable with either a golf cart or the knight V.
I have also learned to build my forge halfway in the water, not too far down the beach, more toward the rebreather cave, I can add solafite do my weapons with impunity and just swim away from the hordes of mutants once I’m done 😂
i just did the same! though im still a noob and built on the lower cliff, i dont have much need for a base right now as i just run from cave to cave and sleep in those, ill upgrade my base soon but first i need to experience the story!!

The thermal pond spot is great to build on. Enemies typically come from only one direction and there's sources of rope, wire, etc nearby.

The editing for this video was amazing. It did not feel like an hour and a half long.
The "not 1 to 1 visuals" means that if you add 1 item and the visual on the shelf doesn't add an additional item to it.
So if an item type only looks like it has 5 items on the shelf but the count tells you it is 10 or so, that's what it means by "not 1 to 1 visuals".
So what is displayed on the shelf doesn't match up with the actual number of that item inside the shelf.
*Anisotropic filtering* is the way a texture is reduced in detail as it recedes into the distance. The most common method used to be the use of MIPmaps which are a series consecutively reduced detail textures. This method creates hard edges in a texture, say a road that recedes into the distance. That is, you can see where one level of detail ends and the next lower one begins. Anisotropic reduction is a real time linear, algorithmic reduction of the texture. The formula uses the distance from the camera to gradually and smoothly reduce texture detail as it recedes into the distance.
20:30 try the campfire directly under the Drying rack. Not just beside it. And put the quarters logs on it. In the very least, I remember it being faster when its directly under the rack

5:53 there is always double rainbows in the nature but sometimes you wont see bigger one if the first one isnt bright enough. All depends on weather conditions

I was a long distance from Kelvin in the mountains and slept so I could see and I saw what I thought was a body fall, and when I woke up Kelvin was sleeping near me. It amused me.

amazing how far this game had come
my friends an I cleared a cannibal's camp on the beach and the fire went out, then to check if it was truly out we went away and we came back (just to unload it and then load it again) and it was still out but the camp was full of mutants (2 twins, 2 fingers and 2 puffies).
we managed to clear it because we didn't let any cannibal escape I think; it was easy to track them down on the beach.
Wish to see some play through like ya did the forest love those episodes but i get family time is way more important.
You should be able to craft some sort of cage to store in shallow water and keep oysters alive. That would be a cool addition i think

I remember when you first started playing this game. You became jaded real quick. I actually chose to unsubscribe from you at that time because the negativity was affecting me. (yes, I watched your apology video, well done) Guess all that fuss was for nothing. I'm glad it all worked out in the end. Subscription earned again.

In regards to the launcher. If you ride a Knight V onto it. You'll get shot way higher. Just remember to hot key the glider.

just beat the game and i upgraded the katana, i literally killed all of the final boss enemies in like a couple of hits the dps was nuts. gr8 game tho, it feels so full of stuff now
I believe the fires only work if the smoke is directly underneath of the drying rack
so do you have to beat the game once before you can get creative mode. if so that sucks bc i just want to build stuff

Knight makes you launch much higher on the launch pad thing.
The fire only speeds up the drying process if you put the fire directly under the drying rack in the middle you can prove this by having two drying racks a few feet from each other put a fire directly under one of them and you will see that the one with the fire dries faster

So the Shotgun yeah, in Duke Nukem it has 7 pellets that do 10dmg each, giving it a max dmg of 70.

I hate that a lot of the stuff is kind of given to us like one of the reasons why I like the forest is because I loved starting a new game and having to work for the upgrades by killing animals and making pouches and quivers, large rock bags stick bags etc. so we can carry more items. I want them to have different tier upgrades for your inventory for example if you want to craft the giant bag for arrows, spears, rocks etc. than you got to go kill Giant animals like the Moose's or if they add bears than you have to kill those as well.

I was wondering if your friend Tony could or would make some mods for The Forest I was thinking of some thing like the zip line gun and the catcher or the log carts or the upside down roof so you can make the hull of a ship or some of your own ideas you once said that if they would make it so it could be modded you would play it longer I remember you did try a few mods but they didn't go to well maybe his would work better I would like to see you play The Forest again with new stuff added in this game is ok but does not compare to The Forest for me Thanks Again
I still have major issues with the ai moving around small structures, kelvin gets stuck a lot around log and stick holders and will not move unless you give him a different command

Did they move the entertainment bunker? Went to the beta location and it was gone. Only a blueprint now. Cave and night is way too dark, even cave light cheat doesn't help much
why is my start location always at the snow mountains? I played like 15 new games and never got the other one.
23:17-23:19 When you're not in your inventory, you eat berries at regular speed.
When building on water, Kelvin will not cross bridges to your base.
You have to put the fire underneath the drying rack

However, one thing I'd like to see in this game are traps that let you catch enemies alive, with the ability to transport them to a sort of deathmatch arena. I don't know if that's possible

The hang gliders break after using them too long. I was up in the air and it disappeared on me and I fell to my death. 😅
don't know anyone noticed about the turtles but there are baby turtles that hatch. A group of my friends and i seen it, they are TINY

40:15 explosive tripwire is great for fighting legsy, blue puffies and such in caves. It's actually hard to simply throw a grenade and hit them due to how fast these are. WIth the tripwire, when you know you will be running into some, just lure them into it. Also can be used to quickly store grenades if you are full when in a cave and might have to reload a save.. Just make a trap, collect the excess, go deeper where grenades needed, go back, dismantle the trap and collect more grenades.

I recently played The Forest (the OG) for the first time (yes, I know I'm late). With its hundreds of bugs and issues, I felt it was beta-quality software. Is "Sons of" any better?
personally, not really. SotF just doesn't itch quite as well as the first game.
my primary issues are map size (SotF is massive, makes getting around a chore even with carts/onewheelers) and just some general mechanics that feel a bit worse in the sequel, like specific buildings not snapping like they did in the og.
also not a massive fan of the NPC duo, their AI is just jank as hell.
edit: yea both games are really rough around the edges, but the first game had quite a lot of merits despite the staggering amount of jank and bugs. SotF just falls flat as an upgrade to the original imo. could've just made an alternate map and new enemies/items lol

so let me see if i got it right.
the ending that is now, Kelvin has Brain Damage and is recovering, and you basically become his legal guardian somehow.
Timmy is mutating even more, and is gonna try and use Solafite to cure himself in some way.
if you get max affinity with Virginia, she get's her extra limbs removed, the player and her get together, essentially making the player Filthy Rich as Virginia would have the right to everything her Parents owned, and they Adopt Kelvin for some reason, which was probably Virginia's idea.
what if Kelvin dies and Virginia does not? are there any endings regarding that, or is only the scenes where timmy talks to a doctor and Virginia removes her extra limbs shown? i gotta find out.

1:20:20 I just finished this game last weekend and the game crashed as soon as I boarded the heli so I don't get to see any of this. I didn't notice from the other videos I watched that they amputate V's extra arm and leg. That would piss me off if I were her.... Great game.
