the grey symbol in the wheel on the shield is the 'already selected' symbol, you can see it at the consumable wheel too an its switching with the selected food ^^

I honestly think the health bar of enemies should be displayed on the HUD as you attack them. So after you attack the mob it's health appears on screen for around a second before dissapearing if you don't keep hitting it

I like that the player still takes damage with the shield up, makes combat more strategic. I also hope torches don't last forever, or at least burn down to a lower light level. With that said, the monster spawns in caves shouldn't all be based on light level anyways, makes the game more dynamic that way. Perhaps only the most dangerous cave dwellers should be afraid of light?

Not the amount of damage being done through the shield. If you put a fat square shield in front of you and someone hits it, unless it's a right wallop you're going to be fine. If it is a right wallop, you'll feel it, but it's not going to nearly kill you.
I would prefer a decrease in light power of the torch when it's outside and it is raining, torch restore would be annoying for decorations

I think how the healing system works is that if you have full hunger you can still eat food but it heals you instead

GoSitOnAPencil it should be in dev content; rewatch the original trailer. It shows a hot air balloon when going through the tiny castle transition
When you Said the pirate thing i thought it could be epic if you could sail Big ships just faster then swimming but not to fast so Its overpowered

@6:15 That greek-style decoration on the wheel items indicates the previously selected item that is also shown in the X/Z slot as well. This can be confirmed with the footage seen at that time mark. The item in the X slot is simply displayed for the reference, but once you select a Z slot item you can probably simply tap Z and the shown item will be consumed.

For me health bars don’t work for an open world game, and finding out how much hits an enemy takes before it dies adds even more discovery and risk for the game. Is that goblin beefier than what my sword can deal? It was one of the small parts of Minecraft that I enjoyed when I first played

The mob or boss hp should be above your own with there name under it to simplify the hp bar things.
2022: Every devices which can be used to play Hytale is now unavailable and you can only play it with a Nervegear.

I see a huge resemblance to skyrim and they could put the health bar on the ui rather than above the enemy, but that limits it to 1 or 2 enemy health bars, so a hight adjustment would be better

It is a very good build but that is not a Pagoda, that is a castle.
(Pretty much the same difference as between a castle and a church. A pagoda is usually a free standing tower with repeated (same style) roofs)
I don't think the trog? is starting a charge or alerting enemies with that yell. That might just be the animation cue to show that the enemy has noticed you.
Would be very lackluster if the roar didn't actually do anything. I meant a charge in the literal sense, not mechanically. He is roaring in preparation to charge at the player.
@@kweebec I mean it would be neat if the roar did more than just serve as a visual and audio clue to alert the player, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope personally. Its a pretty old mechanical trope to just alert the player that an enemy has taken notice in some way. Another example that comes to mind is Goombas in 3D mario games, who'd do a lil hop when they noticed you before running towards ya.
this game looks so good. i mean i can see flaws or things that are missing but i really believe in this game. it got a great atmosphere and is aiming for fantasy rpg elements which is an awesome base imo. everything else will follow im sure.

Here I am comparing Hytale to Minecraft, but specifically to modded Minecraft. Comparing Hytale to vanilla Minecraft is odd - the two games have a lot in common, but still aim to be different things. What I'm thinking is that Minecraft, when modded, achieves what Hytale aims to achieve, but again must be modded for it.
I spent a long time digging for mods (which many other people spent a long time coding), configuring them, and even learned to code a little myself when I couldn't find what I wanted, before I began working on my world and the story I wanted to tell. I rather like the idea of having these features out of the box.
Is there going to be something reminiscent of redstone in hytale? I really hope there is...

You don't have to just pres 1 2 or 3 on the keyboard probably even mouse wheel swapping. The radial wheel is probably an little wink at consoles or people who are going to use a controller.

#1-Camera: Static(no bobbing effects)
#2-The death animation: Crappy(no effects)
#3-The shield: Kinda useless.
#4-Combat: Pretty lame there's no knock backs or hit effects(on the enemy).
#5-Torch: No wind effects(when running/walking).
#6-Enemy ratings :6/10, reason:easy to kill=lame.
#7-Snow effects: WTF? why is it so fast?
#8-First person combat: Lame, no camera shaking effects when the shield got hit by the enemy.

I'm not sure if I like the system where shields have a percentage damage reduction instead of completely blocking damage. It's just so unrealistic, it hurts. With that said, I guess I can understand why it would make sense as a gameplay mechanic, but it's just so nonsensical.
Blocking all dmg is unrealistic too. If someone blocked a large warhammer their arms and fingers would be smashed and bruised due to the utter force behind the hit.
@@hodarov1564 Not really. Maybe in anime but in real life, humans aren't really that strong. The average war hammer in medieval times was a single handed weapon measuring under 2 feet and weighing in under 5lb. That represents a lot of blunt force compared to what the bare human body can take, and would even be dangerous if a hit to the helmet were to occur, since helmets of the time were not on the same level of energy absorption as modern motorcycle helmets for example. But all things considered, it really isn't that much energy and can easily be blocked by a shield, let alone parried to a side (deflected). Even if we are talking about something like a 15th century poleaxe, which is more or less a two handed war hammer with a spear point on either end and an axe head opposite to the hammer head (though it could also be a spike) a shield such as a tear drop shield or even the well known kite shield would be completely unphased. I probably wouldn't b too confident in blocking it with a flimsy wooden shield like the "low level shields" commonly seen in videogames, but truth be told, no one in medieval times used such useless shields anyway. Most shields were a glued wooden construction with the edges reinforced with some king of metal (depending on the time, but in medieval times it would be steel).
So in reality, you could easily block even a warhammer with your shield and you'd hardly feel the shock. Sure, we could potentially say that maybe the Trork is much sronger than a human, but I have a suspicion this mechanic seen here applies to all enemies, not just Trorks.
The reason why I said it makes sense as a gameplay feature is twofold. First, it simulates the effect of some shields being larger and offering more protection, which decreases the odds that you'll fail to block a hit. Instead of including an RNG function to detemine wether or not you blocked a hit, which can sometimes feel unfair, it is often simplified as a percentage reduction of the damage on the shield's part, and this accounts for the average amount of damage you would receive blocking some hits while letting others through. However the main reason I suspect this is done is probably to avoid a stagnant metagame that consists of always being behind your shield and exposing yourself only when absolutely necessary. Of course, that's pretty much how shields were used in real life, but people usually feel that this style of gameplay is boring, which I personally disagree with, but in the interest of having a dynamic experience, shields usually only block a percentage of damage in some games.
But this cringy to someone who appreciates realism like me because the reality is that shields completely block hits in real life. Arrows don't go through shields (that was often their primary job after all) they block all sword strikes and spear thrusts, and even blunt weapons like war hammers, would be completely negated by a block or parry with a shield. This is why everyone and their dog used a shield if they could afford to get one in history (well, unless they were covered in steel from head to toe, then there's no need). Interestingly, if you look at Viking shield techniques (actual vikings, not the comical version seen in pop culture) they typically keep the shield at an angle with respect to the opponent, and this means strikes are deflected to their side, rather than blocked head on. And this obviously makes them even more effective.

When is hytale coming out like what 2 years they been saying it coming out like no hytale is like the most die game ever and no one is like it is coming out 2 weeks from now no hytale is gone. Ps hytale look cool but i gave up on it like a year and a half so it is cool and i would like to play it but i m not going to wait for like 3 or 4 years so yeah game is good but they said it is coming out for so long but where the hell is it.
They already confirmed months ago that it's coming out in 2021. Even a quick google search will show you that. Also hytale has only been a thing for one year, not two.

@@PlasmaWarrior. it looks like they world-edited a bunch of spheres out of the ground. also something i forgot to mention is the combat looks terrible as well. Blocking is ay de-emphasized because all it does is mean less damage is taken, and after you kill an enemy you'll have to sit back and heal. i know theyre trying to implement stealth, but players should be allowed to choose wether they want to storm a base or sneak up on it.
they've confirmed on twitter that there are a lot of bugs in the combat footage they're hoping to fix, but i agree that the cave looks bad.
+ the snow & trork sounds seem off too. here's hoping they're subject to change
