For this busy dad who got into gaming in his 30s to stay sober. I love the cloud.

You better off getting Steam Deck. Save you $10,000 in 10 years and you be able to buy more games compared to scummy cloud gaming which bring nothing but more negative to gaming experience. Trust me having to deal with 5 plus latency is worse than playing in lower graphic setting, plus is a lot better playing online multiplayer game with real device.

First off, sorry to hear about your eye. You've talked about your issues with your vision in the past, and I hope you have a speedy recovery this time around.
Second, thanks for the explainer. I learned a lot, and I thought I was already pretty familiar with the topic. Strobing lights notwithstanding (ty for the warning), the latency demo was extremely illuminating.
Finally, re: 10:00-the dream of an Nvidia datacenter on every street corner is probably something they're looking into. If peak demand for generative AI and other GPGPU applications is 9-5, then having that same hardware working in the evenings to provide "edge gaming" might be essentially free revenue.
I'd also love to imagine that in a future in which the infrastructure can support decentralized gaming, individuals can choose to "rent out" their gaming PCs (or WFH workstations) to provide "community" cloud gaming opportunities, similar to what we have today with World Community Grid, SETI@home or (🤮) crypto mining.

This video reminds me some guys back in 2010 moaning about losing their dvd catalogue. It was exactly the same story, oh no you will not have access to your movies, or the quality of 4k is not as good as a blue ray. 15 years after streaming has consumed the market. As internet speeds rising the same will happen with gaming. Cant wait to watch this video 6-8 years down the road. It will be sooo entertaining.

I play skate 3 on the xbox cloud service, it's fine, easier than having to set up my 360 somewhere

So you don't have to download the game files?

I had a thought. Interent speeds are gradually being improved. Gigabit fibre for instance is becoming more available. By the time cloud gaming is in a place to work well for the majority, could it be outdated? The selling point seems to be quick access to games and convenience. If you can dowload a game rapidly and play it with minimal input lag, more gamers prefer that. Also gamers like to purchase hardware and tech, there is an enthusiast angle that is being forgotten.

I think youre missing the part where cloud gaming allows even the cheapest device to be able to play all these massive games without the storage and specs required to play the game meaning you now have access to all games on your phone and a contorller

    • @MassiveHappyClapper
      @MassiveHappyClapper Рік тому

@larrylobster333 I'm not missing that. For me I prefer to play on a big screen. That aside the latency for controls is just not good, and the image quality is always better on a native device.

@@MassiveHappyClapper I agree with your statements but many people dont have the hardware and storage which I think will prevent cloud gaming from becoming outdated game files are just getting bigger and storage costs money that fact alone i think will keep it from going outdated

I love cloud gaming. I don't have to deal with downloading the game, updates, DLC, or patches. No storage limitations. Plus with Game Pass I get between 400-500 games with my subscription. new and old games are added daily. I can play all the next gen games on my phone, tablet, laptop, or tv. one of my favorite features is because your only streaming video and controller input it takes almost no battery life from my phone to play. I can play a next gen game on my phone for 8 hours striaght without my battery dying cause its equivalent to me just watching netflix/UA-cam. The downside is you have to have a good internet connection and without one you can't play games. I know in the future Microsoft is going to allow you to play the games you own through cloud and not limit you to their catalogue. Also noticed they are getting close with GeForce Now as their game pages include links to it. it will be exciting to see where Cloud Gaming leads us.

Cloud devices will be very cheap to produce in comparison to the traditional home console or PC. So the price point will also be consumer friendly.

I'm looking into getting Geforce Now to play Baldur's Gate 3 on my laptop. If anyone can tell me about their experiences with the service and if they experienced significant delays like the kind described here, I'd appreciate the input.

G-Force has gotten the latency down to 35 milliseconds. I'm 42 years old and I've been playing video games since I was five for console gaming there is no perceptible latency. An Xbox console locally has 85 milliseconds of latency. Even playing a first-person shooter at 120 frames per second on Xbox local is in the '50s which is very similar to GeForce now at 120 hz. GeForce now is only really got 35 milliseconds of latency when it's running a game at 240 hz which is limited to 1080p resolution. Granted everyone's internet connection varies. Your ping to the server is going to be additional latency

Ok. Ok. Feeling a little mean? I’m the idiot youve been waiting to trash…. Cause I’m sure I should KNOW the answer to my silly question: is it possible to ‘lease’ the computing power needed for Varjo / 4090 level
    VR gaming?
Is VR possible over a server?
To purchase two systems that will run a couple of Varjos (one for me one for wife)…. It’ll cost a good $6k for two 4090 capable PCs
Sure would be nice to be able to in essence pay as we go for processing power vs buying it?
Any thoughts you have… welcome! Especially the Haters!
