I'm a super huge fan of Betty Buckley but I did not like the arrangement at this music at all. There's something to be said for just leaving an original piece of music alone and not trying to play with it and make it somehow unusual or different. Andrew Lloyd Webber's music doesn't need to be enhanced or toyed with even for effect.

Rosie always knows so many details about her guests, especially regarding their careers. She’s awesome.
I love that she actually said “Meeeee” and not “Maaaaaaay” that’s not easy on those high notes.

Agreed. I get it’s a jazzier arrangement, but between 2:27 and 2:33 he plays 4 or 5 obviously wrong notes. You can even see in his face that he knows they’re mistakes. No tea, no shade, he’s a great pianist and Betty’s longtime accompanist. But this version was not great.

I think you mean playing by memory? Anytime you're playing a piece while looking at music sheets, you are "sight reading".

I know she's adored by many, but I've always found her voice thin butthats only my opinion. I find Patti LuPone so much more thrilling.
Saw her twice as Norma in London.
I remember her as the gym teacher in the film "Carrie" in 1976.
bootsamou She also played Carrie’s mother, Margaret White, in the 1988 musical adaption of CARRIE. The show was produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company (their first musical since “Les Miserables” and their last until “Matilda”) It closed after 8 performances and was Broadway’s biggest flop.

No, Betty was in the Broadway production from Jul 04, 1995 to Aug 24, 1996. This appearance was in July 1997.

I just cannot agree. Patti Lupone brought the anger and frustration of Norma sidelined by Hollywood and desperate for a return a la Gloria Swanson.
This amazingly talented lady didn’t need the pianist!! Bravo Betty you are the best of Broadway!!!
Fair interpretation by Buckley, although she’s fine better. The dreadful, tuneless accompaniment otherwise ruins the number. All in all, a mess. Bummer waste of air time.

Never saw any of the Broadway shows, so to me she will always be Abby from Eight is Enough. I hope she values that too. She was great in that show.
