I have dermatillomania and I've watched your channel for a while but I never knew you had derma too I thought you just had trich. You should do more videos about derma
I don't wear makeup and I never begrudge anyone else for doing so. I had NO IDEA it could take so long, but it looks really natural, and really good. I would like to see more videos explaining the dermatillomania, if that's something you'd want to do. I know you've said that with trich there's that satisfying pop when a hair comes out, but is there anything like that with the derm aspect?
Just a suggestion! Try not touching your concealer wands directly to your face. When you put them back in the tube the bacteria from your face will grow in there and it could cause future breakouts! Try putting a tad on the back of your hand and applying it from there. I hope this works for you! :)
1. KITTENS 2. I'm very glad you made this. 11 year old me would of loved this video because I was so insecure, but 16 year old me will still find this very handy. Thank you Beckie!
I have derma as well as trich, you are such a great person to put this stuff up! I learned lots with the yellow concealer that's awesome! I know it hurts, I made a dime sized pocket on my cheek a month ago and it FINALLY doesn't look like I have a disease... ugh. "battered lady garden" will always be my favorite line you've ever said, and the one that rings most true. thank god we don't have to do this routine "everywhere"... love the video, adore you, and hope we get to meet one another again or do some art things! (chatted with you a while about markers and painting at vidcon)
I hate having trich my mom screams at me every time she sees a bald spot she always says she doesn't care what it's called and why I do it she thinks I'm crazy if my kid had it I would be understanding and help them any way I could if only she knew her yelling at me made it worse I feel so alone
i know exactly how you feel. my dad yells at me to stop ripping my hair out when he sees me do it but he doesnt understand that when im stressed because if the yelling i just want to rip it out more.
I honestly started crying...covering up just to feel okay....that's exactly how I feel most of the time. You're such and inspiration to me, you have no idea. Derma sucks but finding someone who relates means so much.
I had a really bad week with my dermatillomania and I was sooo happy when I saw this video. I always think I'm the only person in the world that has to deal with dermatillomania but videos like this make me feel less alone so thanks a lot for uploading❤️
Having struggled with acne in the past, and sometimes still now, I thought I could share a tip! I know our situations are different but I think this will translate to either situation. I used to apply concealer before foundation as well, but I often found I would either rub away or displace my concealer as I applied my foundation. Now I tend to apply foundation first, and sometimes this even saves me on product, because some foundations cover more than I thought, and some spots don't end up needing both foundation and concealer. Anyways, a bit rambling but thought I'd share. I adore your videos by the way! 😻
There's something oddly... cathartic, almost, about watching the application process. It is honestly a little like watching someone make art. I always feel soothed after watching your stuff. Thank you. :)
You are beautiful and soothing and I'm always so happy when you come out with a video. and this video is great for me right now as I am so stressed about my skin, you soothe my soul!
Younger girls are lucky. Back in the 90's the makeup was so bad, pasty and heavy that I just gave up trying to hide my marks and scars. Nowadays, makeup brands have change formulations and there is a wide variety of brands, colors and coverage. Also make up is more light and a little goes a long way. Since now I don't have as much scars on my face I went back to use makeup. It is fun to sit and do my makeup, I just love it.
in terms of reducing the amount of spots or 'marks' you get, don't apply any makeup with your fingers, ever, or press your foundation stick onto your face directly, use a clean brush or sponge, all you're doing now is spreading bacteria which will lead to more. Also your makeup brushes and sponge look like they need a good wash and sanitise to stop spreading bacteria, definitely clean them. hopefully it'll help your spots to clear up and be less triggering x
can i just say that you have a very soothing and calming voice ? and also thank you for making this video, im 16 and i've been struggling with dermatillomania for years and years now and have a lot of marks and dots on my picking areas and this video taught me more ways to cover up my marks. thank you for making this video to not promote skin picking but to show the people suffering how to make your skin not look mangled.
Thanks for uploading this, I enjoyed the process of you covering your 'marks', even at my older age I find every day is a schoolday! I may adopt the yellow concealer, so cheers to you!
WOW the change was so gradual that when you flashed back to the before it was like WOW! I've never used coloured concealer, but now I'm thinking i may need some! I have dark purple-y eye circles so I may try the yellow concealer!
MarbleGray Only happened on Sunday and I haven't told UA-cam yet - so do not worry! :D. Me too. We've been looking to adopt cats with the RSPCA for a while and then Mum's friend offered us a couple for free as she's moving away and can't take them with her! MORE THAN HAPPY TO TAKE THEM. SO HAPPY
TrichJournal Awww... I love when that happens, you want something and then it just magically appears... And when it's adorable kittens, well.. Even better!!! (; So cute.
thank you for posting this. my skin is a right mess right now with marks and this helped greatly. normally I don't care but I just started working again and covering it all up makes me feel better. so thank you for the tips :)
I don't mean to tell you what to do like everyone else in the comments, but could I suggest wiping off your concealer sticks with a sanitizer wipe after you use them? That may help prevent the spread of bacteria, but that's just a suggestion.
Do you have any suggestion for derma on arms? For me, I find any makeup I put on rubs off so easily and ends up looking weird or getting on my clothes since I move my arms a lot.
Loved watching this! So interesting to see your make up application process. Your make up looks so natural. would definitely love to see how you do your brows. I definitely struggle with mine... so much so that I've had recurring dreams about people teasing me about them! 😐 Thanks for sharing! XO
Such a great tutorial! I don't usually put concealer on because I tend to attack my face more if I do (I just use a light coverage bb/cc cream) but this is really good if I need to cover up for job interviews or costumes!
I have dermatillomania too. Undiagnosed, but I've been obsessively skin picking for sooo long and I thought I was the only one with this problem. And this really brought me comfort to know I'm not the only one. 💕
I somehow missed this when you uploaded it but I'm so glad I've just seen it! My derma is so bad at the moment and I'm generally really crap at applying make up but I'm gonna try this, so thank you! Xx
Apart from the dots, you honestly have lovely radiant skin. I totally relate to you saying that certain products make it feel worse, when I pick I leave flaky bits and although i have oily skin, putting makeup on top can sometimes make my skin feel tight and make the flakes very flaky.
As someone who also has dermatillomania, I really appreciated this video. My IUD caused me to break out more, and so I picked more, so my face looks especially bad these days.
OMG This is the makup-tutorial for me. I always watch make-up tutorials but i never do them. But this one I will definitely do. I have a lot of red marks from scratching pimples. Thank you for the video!!!!
You do an amazing job with your makeup, wish mine looked that good. I find that green concealer works amazing on spots or red marks. Just though I'd share ☺️ it's done miracles for helping me cover up my acne
I've been dealing with derma for several years now and I find that three main things guide me when it comes to my skin: Less is more (pinpoint coverage and never full-on), skin soothing products and generous moisturizing. If you keep that in mind you can cover up and heal from derma "outbreaks" a lot better, in my experience. I have had several instances when people didn't even believe I had put anything on my skin. It just takes some trial and error and a lot of patience. If the sores are very fresh, I would wait as long as possible to avoid infecting it - But if you don't have a choice, layering with powder can help dehydrate the spot and make coverage more effective.
This was really interesting to watch. I'm far too lazy to wear makeup, but it's cool to see someone with concerns specific to derma go through at least part of their routine. I have derma, but it only affects certain parts: my arms are the worst and I do my legs as well.
I pick at my face so much and my skin is always in pain. I do wear makeup but I'm not good at hiding the red spots and sores, especially when they're huge and scab over. this is really helpful for learning about concealers and colour correction in this situation... thanks so much!
I have dermatillomania and I can relate so much to your routine, the soreness, having to go over the marks with a cream concealer after applying everything. Thank you for this video. Took me a few years to figure out what worked for me, I can say that when I started covering my marks it looked horrendous haha! I think I was around age 12, I am 20 now. The one thing I do however is use rubbing alcohol, might seem crazy because it'll feel even worse but before I apply anything on a fresh mark I dab my brush or finger in rubbing alcohol to prevent any infection/pimple. I find that it helps fresh wounds heal faster, and I know how tricky they can be to cover up. I wish you the best :)
This has been so helpful Beckie, my forehead has been really suffering with my derma in the past month or so and I've been getting paranoid about it being obvious at work (I'm a receptionist so I feel super 'on display') so I've been caking on the foundation. Definitely going to have to look into getting a decent concealer of some kind, I've only ever had one and it was waaaaay too light for my skin so I just gave up on it, it just highlighted the marks I was trying to hide. This video makes me feel less alone
Thanks for the video, I don't think I've heard you talk about dermatillomania before, is it something that's developed recently or have you battled it as long as battling trich? Thanks x
Oh for many many years, I mention it rarely though (I did mention it in my first video on this channel though!). It's not as strong, but there are moments when golly gosh it's bad :(...
Hi Rebecca I just have a question: Have you ever tried to use powder foundation? I don't have acne prone skin but I know I love using this because it's quick and natural (for me).
I use a green colour corrector on any break outs/hyper pigmentation and on my nose as it's used to counteract redness, so that may help if you're looking for anything new to try. Another thing which may be a terrible idea so feel free to ignore me, but I know nivea after shave balm is a good primer and it is made to go on sensitive skin that may have scratches on it so maybe it would be kinder to your skin if it was hurt? Hope your skin heals soon!
Make up uses a lot of colour theory for colour correcting. I use the yellow concealer for my eyes, and green for any redness. I have a ton of old acne scars, and have dermatilomania as well. Oh and eczema. For myself, if I can afford it, I use Vichy makeup. They partnered with dermablend to make makeup for people with scaring, or skin conditions. But that's literally maybe once a year, if not 2 years, I buy that. Every other time I've found Almay works on my skin. Doesn't hurt, & covers. Ty for this video 💜
Thanks so much, this is so helpful. I don't normally wear make up so I'm useless at putting it on for events or filming videos even though I really need it!
I've always picked at my legs quite badly from knee down, and my arms. So those are a bit harder to keep makeup on and it's awful during summer when it's too hot to wear long pants and long sleeves. If you put your foundation on before your concealer then the concealer may not rub off so much? That's the way that most people seem to do it, but good to see you found a way that works for you. I have the Rimmel foundation as well, not sure if I like it as much as my Revlon colourstay but I haven't used it much yet
Becca! Try putting on your foundation first after primer then any marks which come through the foundation you can then cover with concealer. That's what I do anyway, it saves time and product especially if it's from Mac...ha!! Give it a go :)
I think you have a very soothing voice
Have a accent to me.
your voice is so calm you cold do guided yoga or something
very true
or ASMR! :D
WhateverIsTrueASMR YES YES YES
Try asmr.
I have dermatillomania and I've watched your channel for a while but I never knew you had derma too I thought you just had trich. You should do more videos about derma

kizzy isn’t there more bacteria on your hand than your face?

i just watched a makeup video because i like the way she talks how she pronounces words and it is relaxing for some reason
Thank you! Lots of people do actually! x
I hate having trich my mom screams at me every time she sees a bald spot she always says she doesn't care what it's called and why I do it she thinks I'm crazy if my kid had it I would be understanding and help them any way I could if only she knew her yelling at me made it worse I feel so alone

You have the most melodic, calming voice I've ever heard. You would be able to narrate audiobooks amazingly.
I had a really bad week with my dermatillomania and I was sooo happy when I saw this video. I always think I'm the only person in the world that has to deal with dermatillomania but videos like this make me feel less alone so thanks a lot for uploading❤️
Look at the statistics.
Oh my god you sound exactly like Emma Watson to me! If I close my eyes I can picture her talking!
you're right omg
Sophie Whyman no mylene class! I think I've spelt her name incorrectly but she sounds the double of her!!
What does Emma Watson sound like?
You have such a beautiful voice! Actually sounds a little like Emilia Clarke mixed with Emma Watson but it's so lovely :D
Having struggled with acne in the past, and sometimes still now, I thought I could share a tip! I know our situations are different but I think this will translate to either situation. I’m astonished by people who know how to do all this - it really is a talent! Love these old vids :)
I have suffered with anxiety for 5 years, i started skin picking a year ago but mainly on my arms and legs. I didn't even know it had a name.
I pick my arms and I have anxiety too. I hate it and it's so embarrassing but I'm glad I'm not the only one 😌
There's something oddly... cathartic, almost, about watching the application process. It is honestly a little like watching someone make art.
I always feel soothed after watching your stuff. Thank you. :)
Maybe it's the light, but I think I prefer the Mac concealer side, seems more...natural I guess!
I agree! I do prefer my mac haha! :D
You are beautiful and soothing and I'm always so happy when you come out with a video. and this video is great for me right now as I am so stressed about my skin, you soothe my soul!
Your voice is so calming, I love listening to your videos when I'm anxious... Thank you for your videos and for sharing what you do! X

Your eyes are huge they're so beautiful omg AND KITTIES
literally watching this as I'm covering up my marks and scabs to go into work
Thank you for uploading a video because your videos always make me happy :)
Thank you
OMG!! it is magic !!! Where did you learn to do this !! in Hogwarts??
Thanks for uploading this, I enjoyed the process of you covering your 'marks', even at my older age I find every day is a schoolday! I may adopt the yellow concealer, so cheers to you!
you have an incredibly soothing voice

you should be recording audiobooks- you have such a beautyful voice!
i absolutely adore your voice
Why do you have a bunch of baby kitties exactly?
We just adopted three! (We were originally going for two, but ended up with three!) x
TrichJournal Oh my goodness!!! How did I miss that? (; That's adorable, I can't wait to see them grow up.. (:

Finally a make-up video that's better at showing what you are actually doing when applying make-up!
This foundation is Rimmel Match Perfection :) I'm so happy that you adopted these lovely kittens!
That was quite skilfully done. An amazing transformation.
I don't mean to tell you what to do like everyone else in the comments, but could I suggest wiping off your concealer sticks with a sanitizer wipe after you use them? That may help prevent the spread of bacteria, but that's just a suggestion.

There are medical concealers that are water and rub-proof. I know Dinair makes some for people with scarring, discoloration and birth marks :)
I have the same issues and am looking for the same thing ☺️
Omg you have the most calming voice
Loved watching this! So interesting to see your make up application process. Your make up looks so natural. would definitely love to see how you do your brows. I definitely struggle with mine... so much so that I've had recurring dreams about people teasing me about them! 😐 Thanks for sharing! XO

Your voice is so pleasing to hear
your voice is so incredibly soothing
you have such a calming, soothing voice and a very clear and beautiful accent :)
I've always picked, mainly my hands and feet. I never knew it had a new untill you mentioned it in your videos.
You should do a full make up video because now I'm curious, your make up now looks so natural!
You have the most calming voice
Its irritating.
Just want to tell you how adorable you are in these videos. You are doing a wonderful thing! Wish you well.
you have such a pleasant voice!
I have dermatillomania too. I usually try to cover up my scabs with makeup, but I've been makeup free for one month! Woohoo!
Apart from the dots, you honestly have lovely radiant skin. I totally relate to you saying that certain products make it feel worse, when I pick I leave flaky bits and although i have oily skin, putting makeup on top can sometimes make my skin feel tight and make the flakes very flaky.

I think your eyebrow are beautiful. You've done well, dear girl!

your voice is so awesome to listen to
also u look perfect with or without makeup
I'm really struggling with derma :(
I'd be interested to see the rest of your makeup routine as well.
how soothing is your voice 😍
I pick at my face so much and my skin is always in pain. I do wear makeup but I'm not good at hiding the red spots and sores, especially when they're huge and scab over. this is really helpful for learning about concealers and colour correction in this situation... thanks so much!

Thanks for making me feel less alone.
Subscribed, for sure.
A great video! Seeing you upload always makes me happy. It would be awesome, if you could do a video on how you do your eyebrows. :)
your voice is so calming 👍
Girl you do not need makeup. You are beautiful just the way you are.
Hey Becky! Try the Tarte shape tape concealer, all the beaty vloggers are raving about it that it's so full coverage without being cakey
Thank you so much for everything I recently decided to shave my head your videos really help me not feel so alone
Awwwwwwwwwwwww!Where did they come from?? Ah, cats are my life. Great video btw. Great to see a video on this focus.xx Nice nails too.
Thank you very much for your response. Ah I see I'll have to watch that video, I imagine it's awful for you. All the best x
you do so well in makeup, I suck at times.
Hi Rebecca I just have a question:
Have you ever tried to use powder foundation?
I don't have acne prone skin but I know I love using this because it's quick and natural (for me).
You have such a soothing voice
Kitties = total happiness ❤️🐱
Thank you, really helpful and will be trying out some of the techniques on my derma marks 💕
i love your eyes so much
I use a green colour corrector on any break outs/hyper pigmentation and on my nose as it's used to counteract redness, so that may help if you're looking for anything new to try.
I've only ever had purple under eye circles. I'll have to find a yellow concealer.
This video is a godsend tbh
You have a very soothing and friendly voice. :)
Your eyes are amazing!
I WANT THAT KITTEN GIVE IT TO ME
Your eyes are gorgeous 😩💕
Her hair looks better.
Becca! Try putting on your foundation first after primer then any marks which come through the foundation you can then cover with concealer. That's what I do anyway, it saves time and product especially if it's from Mac...ha!! Give it a go :)
