I picked up this kit from our local dump/tip recycle shop for about 25c. It built up into a really nice kit but yours is much nicer than my effort, I loved these old Matchbox kits.
I am sat here watching this video while looking at the vehicles from this set that i made long ago {not sure how long ago { no idea when the kits was released, i'm guessing the 80s?}but i think i was a kid and i'm nearly 60 years old now}i recently cleaned the dust off them which required me to reglue the models.Like i said they are old and the glue gave out. It's a great little set.
Very nice build! I used to build these kits in my early to mid teens back in the late 70's/early 80's, so this video brought back some fond memories. At that time though my builds weren't as good looking as yours, but hey... fun times anywho... 🙂
Yes, it is a water condenser. Radiator overflow goes into the can where it is condensed. Another Radiator cools, it sucks the condensed water back into the radiator so water us not lost.
For the sign you could find a photo of something from the period, cut and paste in any document editor, then reduced to the required size and print out. I use this technique for maps in dioramas, or for navigators stations in aircraft.
Wow, I bet they had some ‘moments’ carrying out their tasks. I had war veterans in my family and some of the stories were of bravery, fear and survival. Sadly these warriors are all gone now but their memories live on.
@creativetimewasting much like your relatives, he had plenty of stories of bravery and daring do. But interestingly, it was stories of mates who were brave. I will not repeat what he called the SAS but he was L.R.D.G. he could say what he wanted... mind you, I 'm a "Yank" we were just outside Boston, MA. He and a friend came to see my boss, and when they were going out to lunch, he turned to my boss and asked if I could go with them. I think he was surprised to meet someone of my age who knew who the L.R.D.G. were.
I've done the 1/35 Tamiya kits of these two vehicles, but haven't found the 1/76 Matchbox kits. They are scarce here in the US. I have a few 1/72 and 1/76 vehicle kits, but they can be challenging with 67 year old eyes and 2XL size hands. 😅
Usually leave a model overnight between painting/weathering and dry brushing. If your bas coat isn’t completely dry then an aggressive wash could lift the original paint.

I loved that kit when I was a sprog. Those two / three piece Matchbox kits were fantastic.

Yes, I think you are correct an oil cooler would be a pipe/matrix effort 👍

Yes -- they're releasing some of the Msrchbox kits including that bloody great 1:72 Corvette.
It is a called a Lemon squeers, NZ standard issue, still in use today for ceremonial duties.

I can't bring myself to build my matchbox kits they seem to be holding their value.

Why do you use oils? Instead of just thinned acrylic paint? I’m curious. Do they have an advantages?
@@akula9713 oil paints I find have finer pigments and behave better than acrylics. I do use Tamiya panel line as well as Citadel washes too 👍
@akula9713 oil paints give you a longer working time, too, which is handy for washes - you can buff some bits, intensify others, etc.
You can use oils for washes over acrylics, and not disturb the paint below.
