Fly fishing a Mountain Stream for GORGEOUS Trout! || North Georgia Trout Pt. 2

- NORTH GEORGIA PART 2 - Georgia isn't really known for its trout fishing. However the Appalachian mountain range reaches as far south as Georgia and has some of the most beautiful water I've ever fished. North Georgia is the farthest south that trout can survive in the Southeast of America. These mountains are full of brown trout, rainbow trout, and brook trout (the only trout native to the area).
In this video we FINALLY find some wild trout tin Georgia and had an awesome day of fly fishing! We caught multiple beautiful wild rainbow trout, some of which were the prettiest I had ever seen. This small creek in the southern appalchains had crystal clear water and roaring waterfalls which made the fishing difficult but rewarding.
I hope you guys enjoyed! Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe!
I've been fishing in ga my whole life. The fact that these boys can come down here and catch fish like that proves that they're for real it's not that easy. It's badass is what it is!
Thank you so much!!
That’s a fact
This is so true.
It doesn’t matter to me where you are or what trout you’re catching. You guys share a great story, have awesome B roll, great music. Truly informative and enjoyable to watch. Keep it up! Congrats on 20k subscribers!
Thank you! That’s means a ton! We enjoy doing it and are glad that others enjoy watching!
Bro you guys are so great at filming and the story just hooks you and keeps you there and Focused on the video. You should have way more subscribers
Thank you so much for the compliment!! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!
Redemption . Well done guys. When you think of wild rainbows Georgia just doesn't pop into my head but yet your catching wild rainbows it's crazy to me. Either way super cool , I like that you show the slow days , to me that's fishing enjoying the whole picture of nature not just catching. I like the georgia videos it beautiful country so back water wild trout seems cool but whatever you guys do will be good . Ty guys
I didn’t think of wild rainbows in Georgia either. And Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed
So glad to hear hear Bo the Drifter back. Love that guy’s music! As to part 1, 50 years ago when I was 24 I would have joined you. Today...insane! I enjoyed part 2 more due to LESS STRESSFUL! You guys are hardcore. 💪
Yessir he is! And thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed part 2.
Didn't know Georgia had such beautiful streams!
It does indeed! And it’s an awesome place
Nice bro,,
Saya hobi mancing juga
Salam persahabatan dari saya🍻
Well done my fisherman friend, your information is great, I wish you an abundant catch🦈🎣 fishinge
Pssst... Jonathan... come on up and chase for giant browns with me on the Hooch & Toccoa!!! My avatar is a 27” from the hooch.😉
Those are two nice streams to fish. My sister lives about 1/2 from Lake Lanier. I think that is the lake.
I’m ready whenever you are!
Spend more time fishing in North Georgia and you’ll fall in love like I did. I lived in Atlanta for 4 years and fished all over the state, but mostly in North Georgia-it’s incredible. It looks like y’all were in Rabun County (without being too specific) so you’re definitely in the right place, but it sounds like the timing was just not the best. Try early spring and it will be worlds different. If you need some tips finding those wild browns or better yet native brookies, send me a DM and I’d be glad to share some maps. Anything to help support a better view of trout fishing in Georgia!
That is the plan actually! Might wait until March and see if we can’t catch some wild browns and brookies. But you are correct, Georgia is awesome. I’m excited to explore a few other creeks I found out about after this trip
Wow man, I just subscribed! This channel is a spitting image of what I want to become. Thank you so much for the inspiration.
Thank you for the sub!! Glad you enjoyed
Greetings from Romania 🇷🇴
I like the mountain wild trout videos myself. I used to fish places like that, but age caught up with me. I can't do it any more, but I like to watch you guys.
Amazing video guys love your content
Thank you!
Ahhh, now that's what I like to see. Determination and consistency is what it takes in these places. Rugged & Knarley is what Trout in Georgia is about when you get away from the stockers. Thanks for coming back and looking forward to seeing more. Badass job guys!
Those were gorgeous trout, indeed! Beautiful stream - and some outstanding videography!
Congratulations on the 20k subscribers! More will follow, to be sure.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed
Hey, you 2 young guys have literally taught me how to fly fish (I know that’s probably crazy to you but, I’ve been tuning in since Covid started and I’m hooked. Hope you keep these videos keep coming (and.......I just caught a bunch of brookies in roaring gap nc this past Saturday (1st 4 trout on the fly 😃)!!
Thx a bunch guys!!
That's awesome!! Glad we could get you into fly fishing and I'm glad you like the videos! It means a lot it really does.
what stream is that. looks perfect for tenkara fishing
Not surprising that you have so many subscribers. Your videos are great. As far as suggestions, keep doing what you are doing. I especially enjoy seeing the small stream action with native and wild trout. The first video in Georgia where you didn't get much action showed how tough winter fishing can be.
Thank you! And we have a bunch more small stream fishing planned throughout the spring/summer. Glad you enjoy the videos!
Let me know when y’all come back! I’m a Georgia local up in the Rabun county area. We can go brookie huntin! Love yalls videos big fan!
Do you know what water they’re fishing here? I’d swear it’s rabun by the look of it
I’m on the hunt for some brookies actually!
Yeah I know a place that we get em up here. Hiking and bush wacking will get ya to em!
Nice rainbows!
They were some awesome fish for sure!
This might be my favorite video of yours so far. I really enjoyed the music, imagery, and fishing. Beautiful work with this one man. I LOVE redemption stories. We all strive to do better the second time around with more info. Glad this one paid off man. Gotta love when the temps play along with you. Keep up the great work, I know the White is treating you well. Keep it up guys!
Thanks mike! That means a lot. Trying to continue to improve as always. The white River was tough but definitely cooperated just enough to keep me obsessed with the place.
What creek is that in Georgia
What part of North Georgia
Careful with those chest waders !! I once used them in a swift trout stream in N. Ga. I stepped into a hole. The waders filled up and took me away.. Thank GOD I was able to grab hold of a fallen tree across the stream. Saved my life !! I wear tennis shoes and shorts now. I don't care how cold the water is. I want to survive and trout fish !! HooAh?
Very nice and glad you enjoyed it better than last weekend. Remember, you can catch trout all the way down into Atlanta. :)
Yes I am aware. The hooche is on the list of places to visit!
there are plenty of streams holding fish in North Georgia, just gotta find them.....lol been fishing here for years, although I do fish for trout a good bit, the past couple years I have started fly fishing for small mouth bass as well, you may want to look into that on one of your trips down here awesome fight, and good times.
Love the show, but all we see is you and your friends faces. You talking and talking and talking and talking and talking
Definitely the best fly fishing UA-cam channel
Thank you!
You aren’t even scratching the surface of what Georgia has to offer. If you are looking for some big brown, float the tail water of the Chattahoochee. You can also float for stripers in the summer. You can also fish for them in the lake along with all of the other warm water species... then you can head a couple hours to the coast for reds in the marsh...
Can you tell everyone what flies you were using over your trip to Georgia? Maybe add some links too would be super apprecaited.
As a north Georgia native trout guy, I can tell you that’s about a normal day up there. The only catch and release most people do is to release the fish into a frying pan. Those hills are fished hard.
Who does your music? That small fish in a big pond song my husband loves but can't find it anywhere
I've enjoyed all of the videos I've watched. I'd like to know what creek you are fishing.
If y’all come back down to GA or NC let me know especially in the winter I know some public water where you can find some nice fish NC especially some places with stockers but one river in particular in NC has one of the highest wild trout populations in the state with some browns that’ll push 25-30 inches, not common but they’re there
I’ll keep that in mind! Thanks for watching!
Look out "OUTDOOR CHANNEL" competition is knocking on your door!!! Really enjoying this series guys!
Thank you!
Good to see y'all catch some fish this time.
We were glad too! Had to catch a few to keep our sanity!
What creek ???
Just like the creek I fish at home in Australia tough going but rewarding 💕🎣
Bro if you want to come to wnc, hit me up. I live in Brevard. We have lost of great water close to here.
Switch to crustaceans not flies, when it’s cold...Nice fish!
Where did you go.. just curious if you minded sharing the area.
Those were the most beautiful rainbows I’ve ever seen! The smaller ones were cooler looking than the big guys! Loved this series guys, keep it up!
Thank you! We definitely will keep it up!
It's a nice place! I want to go! ️
It would be nice to have a look at the flies your catching on. Other than that great videos guys! 👍
Super secret flies😉 haha I’m just kidding. We mostly throw variations of pheasant tails and hairs ears. Usually tungsten or something that is pretty heavy so we can get down to where the fish are
Eastern TN, W. NC and N. GA in the Smokies look the same. I’ve fished W. NC and N. GA. Hard to say exactly where because some of the trails I’ve hiked are along the borders of all three states.
They if anyone knows that song they sing in the video please let me know thanks👍
Hey guys, love the video, beautiful trout, and I like that you show that not every cast is a fish. I’m headed to North GA for some fly fishing next month and found you while doing some research for it. You asked for comments, I don’t know if you can control it or not on the video production end. But, the volume swings between talking and music are huge. I keep having to turn it down when the music plays and up to hear what you’re saying. Just an observation. Other than that keep up the good work.
My first fly fishing solo trip was at Unicoi State Park in North GA, I’ve been in love with those mountain streams ever since. Great job and video and I’m subbed!
Thanks for the sub!! Means a lot!
My Dad and I have been fishing these N. GA streams since I was 6 years old.. and still fishing them.. I'm now 70 years old.. Dad taught me well !!
What is pellet head? Around 16:50
Is that stocked trout?
Just found your channel - enjoyed the GA series - I am learning Tankara fly fishing in North Ga. - love watching and getting any hints I can!!
Great series! Glad you guy's came down. Alot of spot's here are severely stressed but it paid off! Were you guy's in Rabun County?
Another awesome video well done some really nice fish
Y’all should try panther creek. You’ll have a far but beautiful walk and find beautiful fish. I’ve even seen Brooke in there!
Great videos guys! I used to fish up that way in my twenties(55 now). You should go check out the two trophy trout streams up there. Duke's creek and Waters creek. Never fished them myself but loved to walk through and just be amazed at the trout there. Unbelievable!
Love your videos.....we all get skunked we all get hung in trees and sometimes we catch fish. Keep on keeping it real.
Great job fellers! fishing these mountains from a very young age. I know a lot of places.
Nice Bows! Sure, go for the native specs, not a big fish, but the most buitiful, my opinion, thanks for the videos, nice job
Y'all are doing a good job. Try the blue Ridge area. My dad caught a 5and 3/4 pound rainbow up there
Hey! 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻 See if your buddy Dylan has a drift boat to hit that tail water! Those big browns have to fatten back up man, streamer time!
We love throwing streamers! But he doesn’t have a drift boat lol although I’ll still try and hit the tail waters at some point
@@hardmanfishing yea I know you guys do lol I got a lot of inspiration from you guys when I saw your videos a couple of years ago. Now I’m a die hard fly fisher and my wife does it too! Lol YOU GUYS ROCK! 💪👊
Great video guys! I really liked that the part 1 video actually showed a tough day of fishing. I grew up in Georgia, but up in New England now. Just started getting back into trout fishing after many, MANY years! Really enjoy the channel and congrats on reaching 20k!
Thank you! I felt like it was important to show the failure before the success. Glad you enjoyed the videos and glad you’re getting back out there!
Beautiful trout! I have scouted north Georgia trout streams but haven't found a good wild trout stream. Help!
Glad to see you caught a few. You ought to try the Chatooga River. I fished it with my Dad along time ago and it is full of brown trout.
Great looking water and scenery enjoyed it I noticed our native trout streams here in Virginia the trout have a totally different color pattern ours don't have the big spots down the center they're more silver and brighter colored
Beautiful country I'm from Eastern Tennessee the streams look a lot a like. You all make it look easy.
Great video guys, but i have to say, kill the silly music. It just kills the whole vibe.
You’ve got to have some music. If you don’t it can be awkward. I try to strike a balance. That’s why for nearly the entirety of the time we’re actually fishing there is none. Glad you watched anyway!
How many times do you typically cast in a spot before you move on to the next if you don’t catch any there ?
Great video! What fun!
Glad you enjoyed!
When euro Nymphing you guys should try an all mono leader about 25ft connected to your sighter. It works wonders and increases sensitivity. Harder to cast though
I’ve been reading a bit on euro leaders. We’ll probably try a few different leaders as we go forward. Thanks for watchinfb
Dude the scenery is ....🤔.... MAJESTIC over there😳....the water is just UNREAL!! Don't get me wrong tho, the fish look GREAT too....seem like they had more spots on em but I could be mistaken 🤔....anyways, another great vid boys🙂👍....please keep em comin ✌😎
Thank you for the support! Glad you enjoyed the scenery and the trout
I had to comment because it was at 199
I fished that same stream and didn’t catch shit, good job on the hookups.
Thank you!
All this talk about euro nymphing makes me chuckle. I learned “tight line nymphing” many decades ago from the great Joe Humphreys. I still remember my astonishment right down to the exact pool and trout (a 13” rainbow) when I tried it for the first time and IT WORKED! I was on jury duty at the time and the judge was calling 2 hour lunch breaks. I’d wolf down a bag lunch on the way stream-side, fish for an hour and a half and race back to court. One of the cases was an eminent domain federal land grab for I-91 in VT. The plaintiff was a local rich guy who was so arrogant and smug on the stand that we found in his favor and then awarded him $1.00 🤣
Hahahaha that’s awesome!!! But yeah the hate euro nymphing gets is a bit silly. But some people just like to find something to complain about it. Thanks for watching!
AWSOME job guys. Keep up the good videos. Love em
Beautiful streams !! And great looking trout !!! I would like to hear more of the sounds of the area to get a complete feel for the stream.
Subbed! Quick story about trout fishing here or close. SC/N GA is my back yard. I've always fished with a ultra light rod and meal worms, crickets or power bait. My trout fishing buddy always used Joe's flies (rooster tail spinners) I never used them and he always out fished me. He fell several years ago fishing one of our favorite spots and sadly lost his life. He was the best friend anyone could have, a father, husband and a golden human being. It's still hard til this day for me to trout fish, but I do and love it. In his memory I stopped at the tunnel town express store in Wallhalla SC where he bought his Joe's flies and bought one of each one they had. I've rarely been to the river without catching my limit now that I used them. If you guys ever want to take one along they'll bite those if they won't bite anything else. I get it's not fly fishing but they'll grab those. They all have different names, apache, lil brookie, and trout poacher are my go-tos. You guys look into little and big Eastatoee river in upstate SC for some great trout fishing as well. Whitewater river has some very nice natives that are tough to catch as well. Appreciate the content!
I'm sorry to hear that man! At least you guys had some great memories. But I actually love Joe's flies, in fact if you go to a lot of my earlier content (and even some recent spinner videos) you'll see me use them. They're definitely my favorite spinner. Thank you so much for watching and for telling the story! It can be dangerous out in the mountains no doubt. Glad you're okay and still out there fishing. I wish you the best!
@@hardmanfishing awesome! Yeah, just found you guys today searching up history on Tate City Ga. Rode our dual purpose bikes up that way last week on vacation. Appreciate the kind words and I'll definitely check out your other content! UA-cam finally recommended something worth watching!
What's not to like about trout fishing, anywhere...I cut my eye teeth almost 70 years ago, fishing with my father on the limestone creeks of central Pa. Penns creek close to us, loyalsock north of us and the Yellowbritches and Latort south. An uncle had a cottage on the britches. Your respect for the trout is quite evident in these videos. Keep up the great work...
Trout are amazing. Not only because of how fun they are to catch and how smart they can be, but also because of the places they take you. And north Georgia was a great example. Thanks for watching and I’m glad you enjoy?
Dude just seeing how beautiful the wilderness in Georgia is was worth every minute invested in watching your video. You guys are great keep up the good work I’m jealous I wish I knew where some of these little bitches were down there in West Virginia. I’m in PA we’ve got a few nice trout streams up here ourselves but when you cut that huge brownie in a ditch that was a little too much to take. Beautiful keep up the good work
Thank you so much! Georgia is such an awesome state, one that I think is underrated in the trout fishing world. But I'm glad you enjoyed the video. WV is a special place but I've heard the stories about PA and I'll probably be up there fishing at some point.
Hey man can y’all please do a tutorial on how y’all cast on the small streams and the techniques please? Probably a dumb question. But I’m new to fly fishing but love it, but I have a difficult on small streams here in nc. Thank you for all the hard work y’all put in for the awsome content🙏🏻.
We can definitely do that one day. Or at the very least add it into a video. Thanks for watching!
Hi! I especially like the Appalachian stream fishing as that's where I live. I find the Colorado and white river fishing interesting but since I'll never fish there I'm more interested in east Tennessee and even Salt water FL fly fishing as that's my home state. I find your videos unassuming and honest keep up the fine work. Come fish some streams around the tri-cities in east Tennessee.
Thank you! Tennessee is on the list of places to fish
Love that stream! Spooked a 20+ inch bow there one time and almost had a heart attack. Glad y’all were able to redeem yourselves!
I believe it! Glad you enjoyed!
If you guys ever come back to Arkansas for the White River or the Little Red, please let me know. I live in Little Rock and would love to meet y’all or tag along!
Shoot man I just saw this! But we were just there for the week. The white River is one of my favorites
Enjoy your videos. Turn music down, rivers speak for themselves. Also fun to see what goes into trip, a little on camping, scouting, etc.
Glad you enjoyed! I
I’ve fished this creek many times, loved seeing places I grew up fishing. next time you go throw a squirmy worm. The big ones love it and the small ones can’t resist it
I’ll keep that in mind! Thanks for watching
Dude, really well-executed video/production level. Just sub'd. Keep the videos coming. Signed, an Oregon fly angler.
Thank you! Oregon is on the list of places to visit one day
Andrew’s really up’d his A-game on euronymphing! Phenom or savant, I’m jealous. I keep losing flies. But...your videos give hope, as I’ve begun trying it more often.
He’s something alright 😂 but thanks for watching! Glad you enjoy the videos
Love the scenery, gorgeous streams. I like the variation. I also think the vids where you don't catch as many fish are a good addition and make it more realistic. Keep on fishing guys!!
Thank you! I was thinking the same thing, showing failure isn’t a bad thing. Glad you’re enjoying the videos!
I’m sure that was a cool time and change up from your fishing at home I bet. Im ready to see the white River videos trout capital USA.
Starting to edit the white river videos now! Should be some awesome stuff. Thanks for the support!
I need to up my b roll game! Thanks for the inspiration man, nice video 👍🏼
You’re welcome man! Thanks for watching
Such pretty waters and fish!!! Thanks!
Really cool vid. I’ve been getting tired of content creators being overly dramatic or creating clickbait scenes, so seeing a great video without all that is very refreshing. They would’ve had a field day with 13:35 😂
You aren't wrong!! They'd have said "I ALMOST DIED CROSSING THIS WORLD RECORD WATERFALL???!!!?!?!?!" hahahahahaha Thanks for watching!
Hey my last name is Hardman. Do you know any of your family history. Maybe where related.
I have no idea. I think it’s mostly German decent but I could be wrong. I don’t know much about my family history. But nice to meet you!
@@hardmanfishing if your interested. Look up The Descendants of Peter Hardman on the internet. It's missing some info but I scrolled through till I found my great great grandpa's name. Peter was the first Hardman to come here in 1764.
What line are y’all using on your nymphing setups?
Awesome content and footage!
Question: what gear you using?
Using 3wt or 4wt rods for those streams during the trip?
I was using a 3 wt, but it was a 10 foot rod so I could euro nymph and get some good reach.
Thanks for watching!
Temperatures do matter...
I enjoy the whole scene. The ripplin' waters trigger so many fond memories. I could sleep like a baby in my tent next to a mountain stream. I've seen you guys land some really nice fish, but still you find pure enjoyment of catching the little native bows, browns, brookies and even the more rare greenback cutthroat in Colorado. Just being there is the greatness and landing the big ones is the "cherry on top". I enjoy your videos for sure.
Thank you so much! We just enjoy being out there. Doesn’t get much better than that.
u need to come down when its warmer and theres more hatches going on ...also seems like bottom of creek has rainbows then browns and then brookies at higher elevations ...i libe in western nc about 5 minutes from ga hit me up next time ur down here
That’s our plan actually! Thanks for watching!
Love that you came to Georgia to fish. We have some nice streams tucked away in the mountains. Beautiful fish. Look forward to your next video.
Thank you! And Georgia was pretty cool. I was pleasantly surprised.
Another great one. Of you want a suggestion, it would be cool to see which flies they are hitting. You seem to do that some of the time, but not always. Love your content!
Yeah we’re bad about fishing constantly and not taking time to say what we’re actually using. We’ll get better with that as we go
