- I Played Stronghold Legends in 2023 and it was CHALLENGING! stronghold legends is a game that came out a very very long time ago. 2006 to be specific. does it still hold up and is it still fun to play?

I know this video is old, but the bread and butter of this stronghold and The second is to lay 3-4 wood , get some apple orchards going then spam iron gatherer and sell the iron to buy everything else . Then set autobuy(from market) bows at 25 then make defenses and tall towers and fill them with archers . All important things go inside the castle walls such as granary, armory, lords kitchen. If you play Arthur, spam trebuchet and knights , if you play mordred , werewolf launcher and werewolves(launch over walls) ice boys spam giants and woman warriors, giants to break the walls woman warriors to beat the king of whoever you’re facing . To balance out maximum income as Arthur , set autobuy all the food to 50 , candles to 50, ale to 50 place the inn , church , and granary to max output and then raise taxes to max . I hope this helps people that love this game as much as me .

I played many years ago but yeah now I want a remake😂
Some tips from an expert play the campaigns, they'll teach you the basics. Also Take estates, build the defense buildings early and invest in an initial defense to hold off Npcs via the choke points, also after base food max out your iron production at iron is more valuable by an order of magnitude and you can sell iron to pay for buildings and troops. And super powers are fun!
The game comes with a user manual too that explains a lot of things.
to be fair, this game imo did the poorest job at explaining it's mechanics compared to other stronghold games xD

I just dont like how nerfed the castle building was nerfed since Stronghold 2, I loved the variety and complexity on the systems that game preented, and most of them were removed for 2 crusader and legends. So I could never get into those games.

Um you played as Evil. Evil is arguably the most challenging faction since you have very little means for gaining resources and the troops-whilst technically balanced when it comes to abilities and cost. There's not many ways to get honor other than feasting and statues-which barely give you any to begin with.
I would have recommended starting with literally the other two factions since they are much more beginner friendly with more ways to get honor (ie the church, having bread as a food type, you have the vegetables which adds to honor). Those small changes make a BIG difference when gaining honor. Not to mention the additional happiness leading you to be able to tax your peasants more.
Whilst Evil DOES theoretically excel in troop spam and relative power within those troops. They are difficult to get and can easily be killed if you know how to counter.

picked this game up again recently myself. I quickly remembered why I had dropped it in the first place. there is alooooot of insane bs being thrown at you in the beginning xD the curve is STEEP. Comparatively, Stronghold 2 had an AMAZING buildup in terms of unlocking more units, strategies, buildings ect. In this game, it is just randomly thrown at you, and then randomly taken away later again. Props for realizing flame boy is the key though ahha
man the game is so hard but I am trying to beat more levels before i do another video! so hope to see you then and flame boy is supreme
