My sister just got a piano and she’s really frustrated because she can’t play as well as the kids in the adds who learned to play songs in just a couple hours. I think SimplyPiano gives kids the impression that piano is easy and does not take as much practice as it really does.
I agree. I’ve bee doing piano for 6+ years and it’s not as simple as the ads make it. Tell your sister that she will improve and get better if she practices daily and has fun playing. If you don’t enjoy the instrument it’s not really worth your time
@@amritakonaje65 No shit, but these ads are awkwardly written, so if someone who has never seen it, would be confused why the girl is asking for something seemingly already in her possession. Thanks for playing, you didn't win but we have some nice parting gifts for you.
I’m a pianist and I tried this app once, and the way the “sheet music” on the screen scrolls is just so annoying and weird. I don’t think you’ll learn to read actual sheet music because the screen scrolls.
Alex Xing that what I thought! I also tried out of curiosity and I hated it! It was sooo weird how the music were moving and hurt my eyes looking at at. As a classical musician I didn’t know what triggered me more, the app and all the ads or the fact that they called keyboard piano.
I was laughing really hard when he was playing fur elise it's literally in 3/8 and is the opposite of a beginner song if your playing the original piece. Even if it wasn't the original piece someone who has never touched a instrument isn't gonna know the rythm the counts the fingering lol. I'm currently learning the original Fur Elise and it's difficult (the thirty second notes especially) there is no way someone could just bust out even a simplified version. Also been playing piano for 5 or so years and I'm not that good but it's easy for me to tell XD. My opinion these ads aren't even trying anymore lol. Love the vids keep up the content
I dislike how much they exaggerate a kid playing Fur Elise. How come a 12-year-old that plays Chopin and Tchaikovsky doesn't get that many good comments?!! XD
Mother: *Impressed by kid learning two chords Me thinking: I'm pretty sure I once taught a musically illiterate friend a four chord song in literally half an hour...
I have also taught adults fairly successfully. Even though later in life it is harder for us to learn. I think the comparison stands against public school teachers though. I dunno how they managed to not teach us audiation over all the years, etc..
@@agnidas5816 I worked as a public school music teacher for 2 years where I attempted to teach audiation to students (about 500 in total) ages 3 - 11. All I can say is...try it yourself for a year. You will find your answer soon enough. Adults are easy to teach because usually, if they come to you, they are looking to learn. When you're teaching music in a public school, half your job ends up being behavior management and crowd control unfortunately. In public school music classes, many students not only have no interest in learning, but they also are intent on disrupting the class and making it a chaotic experience for others too.
My simply piano experience: My little sister not knowing better was jealous of the fact that I can play piano and she can't (she's 7 and I'm 16, practising grade 4) so she asked my mum if she could try simplypiano because of all the ads. My mum not knowing or thinking any better signed her up to a trial... Which she completely forgot about 7 days later. She wasted £100+ on an app, no refunds, my sister didn't even use more than once, and I've never been more disappointed in my life. I checked the app and its so... Terrible. Nothing worthwhile for £100+ a year! The subscription is ONLY annual, not monthly or anything, so you can't even properly trial it for a month or so. I hate this company so much!
The same thing happened to a friend of mine. I’m doing grade 8 this year and she wanted to play as good as me so she downloaded this app. After a while she told me about the whole thing and wanted me to judge how she plays. It’s nothing like the commercials, her technique is horrible and she can’t even read sheet music properly and she told me that she’s been playing for a month now but she doesn’t even sounds like day five in the commercials.
@@MD-rp6jd Evidently grades mean different things in different countries - in the UK (where the original commenter is from) it maxes out at grade 8, after which there are diplomas. People would only reach grade 8 in their teenage years at least, and then only if they started young.

Emma Young People only play the first part of fur Elise There are 2 other sections that are about 10 times as hard as the first one But people still “play fur Elise” even though they didn’t actually play it
They already know how to play piano, so they should probably get someone who doesn't play piano to try it out XD Though, if they try it out for themselves it will definitely be a hilarious roast video
That's because of the postmodernist occidental point of view (making people stupid and disabled just because they're young, instead of training them because they're young). I hope everything goes back to 'normal' soon.
The most painful is when they say "this app teaches you everything you need to play the piano" and than add a video of someone playing with literally no dynamics, no phrasing and the worst posture one can have
Yeah. Plus, if you want to learn piano, then you shouldn’t be using the app. There is something called motivation… and using an app to learn defeats that. If you want to learn, then learn.
Not just that, but the freaking hand positions. In every single ad, they're doing these weird things with their hands. Yes, I understand if you can't reach notes cause your hands are smaller, but my gosh.

Chords huh? Let's see if she can play "Le Gibet", then we'll see if she can really play chords Le Gibet is also an extremely difficult piece that's too difficult for most average pianists (me included) so don't take my comment seriously.
Fun fact: Ludwig Van Beethoven created Für Elise for a student he fell in love with, so he made it easy for her to learn. Upon learning she was taken, he made the rest harder so she couldn’t learn it…so they say it’s easy because the first part is easy.

I agree. I’ve bee doing piano for 6+ years and it’s not as simple as the ads make it. Tell your sister that she will improve and get better if she practices daily and has fun playing. If you don’t enjoy the instrument it’s not really worth your time

I’m a pianist and I tried this app once, and the way the “sheet music” on the screen scrolls is just so annoying and weird. I don’t think you’ll learn to read actual sheet music because the screen scrolls.
I learned reading sheet music and sight reading by not exercising enough xD
I also tried this app and for some reason for a quarter of time the app could not recognize the notes I was playing even though everything was fine.

Mother: *Impressed by kid learning two chords
Me thinking: I'm pretty sure I once taught a musically illiterate friend a four chord song in literally half an hour...
Was it heart and soul? :)

My simply piano experience:
My little sister not knowing better was jealous of the fact that I can play piano and she can't (she's 7 and I'm 16, practising grade 4) so she asked my mum if she could try simplypiano because of all the ads.
Well, to be fair, that is not quite right. You can be charged for 3, 6 or 12 months. So it is possible to not pay annually
it happened to my brother too...
Kristian Holst but if once you did it, you can’t takw it back

Nope. Me too. I was like "wait a minute!! That button looks smaller that usual!!" XD
I did it twice it’s ok
No i dont, haha, *laugh in UA-cam Premium*
I am *so grateful, beyond words* that the only ad I ever appeared in had nothing to do with music, because Brett and Eddy would rip the "authenticity" and the script to absolute shreds
“It must be extremely expensive right?”
“It’s the same price as buying three cups of coffee every month”
Wow that must be some expensive coffee…
Imagine being able to get coffee for less than 3.33 :(
@@commonlogicart1604 If you make your own, coffee costs 2 euro for 200 grams.
Don't know what its like in other countries, but here it's that expensive.
Plus either you drink coffee or you don't. In what world do people just randomly drink three times a month
Hm, honestly that sounds about right for a cup if you go to one of the major coffee brands like Starbucks or Pete's Coffee. However, I go to my local AMPM gas station for coffee now and it costs $1.70-2.10 depending on the size you get, but I'm really cool with two of the workers there so they actually just give it to me for free haha. Plus there are hella toppings there that they DONT charge you extra for.
