My flinchworthy story. When I was in junior high school, one of my classmates wanted to make a violin. He was a cellist and really into woodworking. His dad had a fully equipped shop at home, but he did a lot of work at school, since we actually had a pretty cool shop teacher. He was meticulous in carving out a beautifully shaped top, measuring it carefully with calipers to make sure it was the right thickness all the way through. Fantastic work. He had started working on the scroll, when one day in shop I saw him standing there with a sad look on his face. "What happened?" I asked. "(Person not to be named) sat on it. He sat on my violin," he said. "And he just said, I sat on your violin!' Sure enough, there it was, with was a crack in the top, at the f-holes, from being crushed. So sad. We had high stools in the shop, surrounding the work tables, but the guy for some reason decided to plop himself down on a table rather than sit on a stool, and didn't look where he was sitting. So stupid, since we often left tools like chisels, files and saws on those tables, not to mention our projects. I think he eventually finished it, at home, but I never saw the finished instrument, so I don't know if it was playable. That crack probably would have caused all kinds of chatter.
Part of what you're taught in shop classes (heck, most of what you're taught) is safety. The kid who sat on the bench honestly probably should have been told that he lost his shop privileges and that he would have to stay in the classroom for the remainder of the semester, rather than be trusted with any of the dangerous equipment in the shop (and if it meant he failed the class, then he failed and it was his own fault - our shop classes had similar policies that were drilled into us to ensure we took the safety parts seriously)
Me too. I literally bawled my eyes out after reading the comment section. It's just too sad, I feel so sad for the old man. Especially when he asked the woman "Are you okay?" even though his violin broke and he tried picking it up. I could only guess that it must cost a lot.
When I see old people sad it makes my heart shatter.... one time I was visiting my grandparents and my grandma dropped a super tiny white pill on the white floor and she had others but I wanted to find it for her sooo bad so I was crawling on the floor looking until I found it 😂 it was such a small thing but I felt so bad

Me too, he was just having some fun, and an unfortunate accident happened :( I hope he got another one and that the woman was kind about it. Also, what were the pieces played at 5:16 and 8:23??
I have a crazy one for you guys… in 8th grade, we were passing out new music and I had some extras, so I leaned my bow up against my chair, stood up and put the extras on my teacher’s stand (I was in the front row so I just stood up and reached over) and I sat back down and just heard a crunch. I stood up and saw the tip of my bow lying limply on my chair, and I was like “…um… Mr Brown?” And he was like “oh… well these things happen, you can borrow a bow for this class” and I did. But the bright side was, I needed a full size violin anyway so we went to the music store to get one that weekend 😊
@@miwir1248 i dont know wat was on the girl mind but why would you run on a tight space behind someone performing even if he was still she could bump into him
@@judygambel2801 I don't know what was in this guy mind, but why would you play in a narrow space jumping and spinning around when someone can walk behind you. Even if he didn't smash his violin *on her face* he could still bump into someone. Maybe she was in a hurry, maybe she was worried about something, probably wasn't thinking straight and who in hell would predict the guy playing violin in the street would do a twisted backflip right at the moment you are behind him? This was an unfortunate incident, there is no point in blaming people.
people mock classical musicians for not moving&dancing while they play (I know some do) but that first accident just shows how important a Heifetz-statue pose is for safety reasons.
There should be some limits about movements it's true. But moving makes audience feel you are very involved in music you play and make them feel the same way about the music, so some moves and smile make really good image for sure. The other thing is that if you are street musician you should always aware of space you are using and what's going on around you (I know it from my own experience. There are also stories about streets musicians that were stolen money because they wheren't paying attention wat is going on arround them). That's the thing the man in video certainly didn't care about. Another good thing about the right stature is that it helps to play better, more in tune and not having any pain afterwards. But when you come the certain level you surely can find the ballance between moving and stature to achive both great sound and looking good. I can tell it as street musician who played 9 years in music school and for now on havve 7 years of street playing experience.

First of all, it’s encroaching on his performance space which is super rude, AND you might mess something up, like Idk get in the way of his performance and get frickin’ whacked across the face and break his violin!! Man. I’d hate to be her. Wow.
Once my teacher smashed a prop violin for April fools bc she “couldn’t tune it” and the whole orchestra was like shocked and then we all signed it and it’s in the orchestra room at my school
Well...he had wrinkles on his neck so I thought he was a grandpa but anyways I edited my comment and made it to man thanks for the likes btw😉 thanks for correcting me
I feel so bad for the old man he must’ve tried to get money he has a real heart to not be mad at the lady and say are you okay. I genuinely want to buy him another. That is really sad.
I’m about to cry at the first one, because old people doing things to earn a bit of something (anything: money, respect, love) always make me really really sad like, I just want to give them a big hug and let them know that they are very loved and not alone and then give them the money/necessities they need (not that I have them). And the fact that it’s a violin, a whole instrument, which costs a lot of money, makes it even worse. He was dancing around and jumping (way more agile than the average elderly, and goodness think about how it might be hurting him) and putting all this genuine effort in to get some extra dosh, only to lose his violin completely 😭 what if he can’t afford a new one?? What if that was one of his possessions for years, something he’s been passionate about for a great portion of his life, only for it to be stripped away from him by a reckless woman… gosh I’m about to cry. Please, please I’m praying that things turned out well for him. I’m sorry for the misfortune in the world. AND AFTER THAT HE WENT STRAIGHT TO CHECK IF THE WOMAN WAS OK IM CRYING NOW 😭
Pfft. ok. She probably wouldn't have wanted to walk in _front_ of him, probably because she didn't want to block the view of spectators. Besides, walking in front of him might have just been a bit of a rude gesture. And you can see that she was in a hurry, so she probably couldn't have had the time to acknowledge him. And come on, she isn't "ruining someone's source of income" on purpose. I don't think anybody's to blame here, really
Holy crap man. I just realized that guy in the first clip said “Are you ok?” to the lady he hit while glancing at his violin. He just cared about others first while suffering deep inside for his violin without complaining and just thought about the person he hurt first. Holy crap man that old man is a pure one. BUY HIM A VIOLIN NOW!
I'm just the type of person who has little to none sympathy for the woman in in first clip. LIKE SERIOUSLY WHO RUNS BEHIND A STREET PERFORMANCE LIKE THAT?
Fr tho, she deserved it. Theres plenty of space on the sidewalk instead she decided to squeeze through that tiny space behind the performer, she probably knew it wasn't going to work but still decided to do it. It's common sense, I don't care if anyone accuses him of doing stunts while performing, that's not the issue. Even if a performer were to do stunts, you wouldn't blindly walk into that, would you? Literally, PLENTY OF SPACE ON THE SIDEWALK AND THAT MF DECIDES TO WALK BEHIND AND GET HIT. Look at her glare at the old man, I'm geniuely irritated by this ignorant woman.

That second video was made by my High School teacher. The violin was an $80 piece of plywood bought by 4 students. He's a great guy and a fantastic conductor.
let’s be real, everyone commenting calling the old street performer a “maniac” and an “idiot” has no respect or understanding for people who have to supplement or eke out a living busking for tips. that man was nothing but kind to that woman who he knew he had injured; he didn’t rage at her and he didn’t blame her, and yet some (a lot) of y’all are acting like he’s some malicious assailant. maybe go spend 40 hours a day practicing some empathy.
I have busked before. In my experience, if you’re going to be spinning around, you need to make sure you’re in a place where no one can go behind you- a corner or closer to the wall- because if you’re doing sudden movements like that that the average person wouldn’t expect, it’s you who has to be responsible for making sure that the environment is safer for everyone. I don’t think that he’s malicious in intent or should necessarily be in trouble for it, but everyone who’s insulting the girl or saying that she should pay for the violin are, in my opinion, in the wrong as well.

I remember being in 8th grade and the orchestras of middle schools and high schools in my district were all gathered and performing at a certain high school, and apparently one year, somebody’s violin fell between the bleachers and splintered to pieces on the ground (for those unaware, in some schools in the US, they have indoor bleachers in the gym, which was where we and other schools had been sitting while we waited our turn to perform). Rest assured I was clutching my viola with my entire life after hearing that-
The first one broke my heart. That poor guy. 😥Such a kind heart. Not many people like this are left in the world. :( If I were him I would have just raged at her.
I'm worried only about the girl. The violin was a cheap one and the man was woundless (and quite stupid), but I bet the girl's mouth was bleeding. Not funny at all.
@@antoniong1449 Exactly! You should NOT be worrying about the violin. The girl's condition should be the only thing to be concerned about. She was covering her mouth, I can only imagine from pain, as that guy did swing his violin into her. You could say she should not be moving behind him, but this is a public access area and he should be more aware of his surroundings, considering the energetic movements he was doing while performing.
hollow-body strings and wood-framed -pianos are *this* close to implosion at concert pitch. Neglecting a crack on the soundboard ("top" or "tapa") is inviting a disaster. Solid-body electrics and modern iron-frame piano just dont care. I've cracked lacquer on my spanish guitar's soundboard just by having thumped the arm of a chair a little too forcefully with the side of the guitar, at the lower bout, when I turned around after someone called me. smh. Just that thump cracked lacquer, and she's a 50 year old yamaha, which are *tanks* by comparison. yes.... they are soooooo fragile. Any instrument demands respect, but strings are super-sensitive.
One time I dropped mine and to save it I had to face plant on the ground to soften its fall, and catch it when it fell. I was not buying a new one, my nose can wait.
Once I was in orchestra and this one girl that had been playing for a few years at that point and was probably the best player in our class dropped her violin ON THE CARPET and it just fell apart completely.

Because the chainsaw is a lethal weapon commonly used in cases of murder while I'm very sure a violin is a musical instrument invented to play a tune. Also, when's the last time you've read a book and someone's used a violin to decapitate their enemy?

Viola is legit a different instrument then a violin. I'm confused do they play Viola's but then it says Violinist. I play Viola so I'm just abit confused is all.
i feel bad for the first guy he was just trying to earn some money... but then he got his violin broken and he wasn't even mad, instead he was comforting the woman. Those things are expensive.
When the woman didnt stop when her bow broke, it doesnt mean she didnt realized it. She already realized it and continued because its called “Professionalism”
When I was younger taking lessons, I loved my violin. Most of the other kids acted like they didn’t care and constantly dropped their violins. They never broke, somehow. The idea of hurting this beautiful instrument terrified me, though, so I was always very careful. It was difficult, as I had fine motor issues, but I never dropped it. Until... One day, it drops like, only one foot, and is INSTANTLY broken: bridge fallen out, neck snapped, and the stick inside dislodged. I was so sad, cause then they called me irresponsible and the instrument that I thought of as a friend was practically destroyed. I got to keep it, but no music store was capable of fixing it. And that is my rant XD
I played clarinet and it would terrify me to drop it. It broke once in all county(a giant music festival) and I thought I was done for and was so embarrassed
clarinet gang lessgo. Also once I had a friend that somehow managed to break his clarinet in band. one of the many metal pieces fell out somehow. Fortunately the teacher fixed it.
After watching this i feel like hugging my violin Carefully After covering it in bubble wrap On a bed Which is beside another bed In a padded room With nobody within a 5 meter radius
I don't even have a violin but I'd want to wrap one now in some good soft material (don't know which one would not damage the violin at all) and put it in a hard case so that no-one can hit it, sit on it, step on it, or smash it. Not intentionally nor accidentally.
My friend’s bridge fell off twice today both before our performance the second time and the first time at practice but our music teacher is really good and put it back on in 5 minutes
I was joking, I actually saw a dog pass after being run over when I was little, it was awful and I cried for a long time. I know you can’t compare that to an instrument.
@Pinkichu Xo @KC the Tubby Calm down, it's what we call a hyperbole. I'm an animal lover as well (just look at my pfp), but I understand what she was trying to express. Musicians have a special bond with their instrument. As Eddy says in the video, it's like their "baby". I'm not a musician myself, but this video was painful to watch.

I don’t want to be mean but the first thing I thought of was, “why did you go behind him?”

Oh no that hurt me on a different level.

I have busked before. In my experience, if you’re going to be spinning around, you need to make sure you’re in a place where no one can go behind you- a corner or closer to the wall- because if you’re doing sudden movements like that that the average person wouldn’t expect, it’s you who has to be responsible for making sure that the environment is safer for everyone. hollow-body strings and wood-framed -pianos are *this* close to implosion at concert pitch. Neglecting a crack on the soundboard ("top" or "tapa") is inviting a disaster.
Solid-body electrics and modern iron-frame piano just dont care. I've cracked lacquer on my spanish guitar's soundboard just by having thumped the arm of a chair a little too forcefully with the side of the guitar, at the lower bout, when I turned around after someone called me. smh. I'm in band and one boy did that with his trumpet I sat next to him everytime he got mad I held my trumpet for dear life
Me: *WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY*
iJinHit sike*
everyone liked that
not the violin breaking
Jinhit it is💜
not just the first guy broke his violin, but he will also can never make memories with that violin ever again. that may seem nothing to others who doesn't play because it's just an "object" but dude, i really do treat my keyboard as a loved one of mine. if i was that guy, i will still keep it and put it as a display to give it a respect
I love how their merch is actually wearable clothing, not just plain advertising of their yt channel, or them in general. Very cool, way to go
Thank you TwoSet, very cool!
Viola
I love TwoSet, but isn't most merch wearable?
@@HappyGamer-br1ls it basically man's you don't look like a walking advertisement for twoset
When the little girl's bow strings fell out and her eyes popped, I was laughing so hard.. I'm sorry :/
Raining Gacha same :|
Raining Gacha
That vine
same, because i've seen it before
It was funny but made my soul hurt cause I have a violin and I’m scared of that happening
This was the first twoset video I ever watched. Thank you two for getting me to start practicing again.
Guy: Casually finishes playing a beautiful violin solo
Bridge: IGHT IMMA HEAD OUT
Honestly my half size violin was like that all the time!!
When the woman didnt stop when her bow broke, it doesnt mean she didnt realized it. She already realized it and continued because its called “Professionalism”
Finally a guy who doesn't talk about the first guy
@Caralena Lindberg saaaame
I woulda ditched it and plucked lol
yeah, you could see her trying to get the stray bow hairs out of her fingers :(
Yeppp
@@jacobrichardson611 YES SAME
i play bass clarinet and clarinet so-
also mine didn’t break
@@jonah9916 nice. I only played B flat
clarinet gang lessgo. Also once I had a friend that somehow managed to break his clarinet in band. one of the many metal pieces fell out somehow. Fortunately the teacher fixed it.
@@sacriligiousstick that would scare me all the way to the devil's door
I think that the man needs Ling Ling insurance. He was so kind asking is the woman was alright. Truly a legend. Such a kind-hearted soul.
I put a blanket over my cello when the first guy dropped his violin. My cello flinched...
@Nada Dawood (Student)
Angel replied: cool, I play the piano
(◡ ω ◡)💖
Cello players whwre u at
Did you not listen to the warning?
AYEEEEE cello gang :3
I play cello too 😝
After watching this i feel like hugging my violin
Carefully
After covering it in bubble wrap
On a bed
Which is beside another bed
In a padded room
With nobody within a 5 meter radius
violinning human I don’t even play an instrument and I wanna do the same
This comment is underrated.
I don't even have a violin but I'd want to wrap one now in some good soft material (don't know which one would not damage the violin at all) and put it in a hard case so that no-one can hit it, sit on it, step on it, or smash it. Not intentionally nor accidentally.
That’s the Ling Ling way to do it.
"Do not watch this video with your baby instruments"
Me: *immediately turns head over to my tuba across the room*
Aren't tubas born fully grown?
Cries in piano
Looks at my cello
Back in the closet you go
Tuba is bed time
Me: *nervously looking at my piano and electric piano
Baby please close your lid it’s bed time
My friend’s bridge fell off twice today both before our performance the second time and the first time at practice but our music teacher is really good and put it back on in 5 minutes
I actually started tearing up during that first video. This video is the musician’s equivalent to watching dogs get run over
Wtf, you realize that dogs are a LIVING BREATHING thing and a violin is just a.. violin? You can replace a violin, not a dog
Yeah I would be 10 times more sad to see a dog run over. Yes, violins are expensive, but nothing can replace a living being.
I was joking, I actually saw a dog pass after being run over when I was little, it was awful and I cried for a long time. I know you can’t compare that to an instrument.
@Pinkichu Xo
@KC the Tubby
Calm down, it's what we call a hyperbole.
I'm an animal lover as well (just look at my pfp), but I understand what she was trying to express. Musicians have a special bond with their instrument. As Eddy says in the video, it's like their "baby".
I'm not a musician myself, but this video was painful to watch. I can't even imagine a musician's feelings watching these beautiful instruments being smashed...
@@MissTwoSetEncyclopedia I understand, perfectly. Just in MY opinion (keyword my) a living being is quite more expensive to lose. I understand it was a metaphor/hyperbole.
The lady shouldn’t have tried to walk behind him.
Erin Nichols walk? Full speed sprint more like
yEs
Yep
Hindsight 20/20
She didn't even walk she BOLTED
The first man probably cried when he get home😔I don't even wanna think about my violin getting broken like that
First guy jumped like a moron through a crowded street wielding his precious violin. You don't f'n jump and fling yourself in a crowded street.
Normal people: Poor woman!
Me: THE POOR VIOLIN!!!
Me: Poor Man!
OMG you're se quirky and different haha

I have never seen the hair on a bow just give up. 😂
Violinist: *plays*
Bow Strings: Alright. That’s enough playing for one day. *Falls off bow*
Jessica Sims it's a weak boi
Yeah but it happened to a classmate of mine in the middle of a playing test once, the school’s cello bows were all garbage.
Violinist: Finished piece
Bridge: "Aight, I'mma head out"
Casey Patterson copied comment 😒
@@artymiis no, not really. the original comment was. talking about the first vid. this one says when he finishes, the guy in the first vid didnt finish,. later in the vid, somebody finishes and their bridge slips out
I can tell that Old Man in the 1st Clip was Sad and Very Shocked and that woman Regret that plus How Is he gonna continue if a new violin is gonna cost Too much, He said if that woman was Ok means that He would probably be Fine later on since he cares more about the people being ok and entertained by him.
I think he was also being smart. Unfortunately, if the girl was hurt, she could sue and she would actually win. There isn't anything legally wrong with running behind a performer, it's just rude. But swinging around a wooden object in a busy public space without ensuring that people can't accidently get into that space, unfortunately there can be legal repercussions for that.
