- I've recently been on the lookout for a nice Les Paul or LP style guitar. After checking out a few Gibsons, and other models such as the Sire L7, I happened upon this beauty.
The Fernandes Super Grade RLG is a Les Paul style guitar made by Fernandes / Burny . This particular guitar is from 1989, and is by far the best Les Paul I've ever played, and one of the best guitars I've ever played.

Had one of these bought new in 1989, it got stolen in around 1994. Best guitar to this day ive ever played - and i own many. Bought a Gibson R7 a couple of years ago. It's the only one I've ever played which came close to the feel of the Fernandes. Awesome guitars. I recently bought a fairly new (Chinese) Burny RLC, also a pretty fine guitar but lacking the love and care which was put into the older guitars. Great playing, sir
Well done. Welcome to the MIJ club. I’m an avid fan with more than my share (Burny/Fernandes, Tokai, Greco). The vintage (70s-80s) are great and in demand, but you show that even the 80s-90s models more than hold their own.

Has nothing to do with LP's, but my first guitar IS (still have and play it) an Fernandes APG 80 (1997).
My second guitar is a 2001 Gibson LP Std 60's honeyburst plaintop.
Really a shame though that it is no longer possible to buy Fernandes Guitars over here.... (The Netherlands)
Feel like an elastic band on a stick would sound phenomenal in your hands sir. What a fantastic LP though.

Sold my Gibson´s and only use Edwards, Greco, Tokai and Burny/Fernandes.
You get the same or even better guitars with these MIJ guitars than standard Gibson´s.
When it comes to custom i would go for Navigator b4 Gibson.

Hello Bro , i've just pick-up one up about a month ago !! Branded Fernandes too! Great LP guitare perfect sound and feeling .Mine is a plain top cherry burst , all original except bridge pick-up wich I think is a Gibson or Seymour and capacitors changed for some Orange Drop by a previous owner . I payed 600 euros for it in a beautufull Boblen case . Have Fun . Cheers from France
cool guitar,the usual score with fernandes/burny,was that is that the fender copys strats tele etc were badged fernandes,and the gibson copys burny,you dont see many lps with fernandes on headstock

Awesome Les paul and very RARE! you can test if the paint is nitro by picking a small area and dip a q-tip in acetone (small amount) and rub on paint. It will melt nitro. Maybe find a spot under the control panel and test. Once again very nice... Want to sell it?
fernandes/burny brand has never owned their own factory,but were made by kawai/tokai/fujigen/dyna gakki/ terada/matsumoku at different times,all of them apart from kawai have also made fender japan guitars.yours is rare,you got a bit wrong.burny was usually used for les paul copys,fernandes for fender copys,so yours is rare being a lp copy branded fernandes rather than burny
No he did get it correct. The export models for Gibson copies were also branded Fernandes for some reason.
The Asian luthiers sure know how to make a guitar!! I've sold off my "real" Gibson Les Paul's and have been having Chibsons custom made via eBay (that way if anything goes wrong I get my $300-$350 back). I sold one of my real Les Paul's for $9k and that was bc my $300 Les Paul sounds WAY better. All I do is swap pups (I like the Pearly Gates 1st year set from Duncan) and away I go.
The Japanese guitars are awesome but sadly they nearly all have a poly finish so they never seem to age.

They’re awesome - many do have poly finishes, but from what I’ve seen they tend to be thin poly finishes at least.
Hard to tell if this one is nitro or poly, as it has signs of wear but is in good condition for a 30 year old guitar!
@@rampman8940 Very thin veneer on a thick maple top.
the affordable ones are poly,but tokai and i think burny/greco also have nitro models.but pricewise those ones arent far off fender/gibson usa prices
