Step back, before it's too late. I've listened to metallica for 20+ years, still am till today, and definitely will continue to listen to it. I cant escape xD
This song is epic....beautiful to the point of tears. The solo at the end is completely unconscious Kirk playing his heart out. It moves me to tears. I love it.
YES please react to these they are instrumentals and it's so intense it doesn't need words.. Especially To live is to die it's a tribute to the bass player who died
Kirk Hammett is the genius behind the amazing guitar solo. He is one of the best axmen in Metal. And James Hetfield's voice/acoustic guitar, Lars Ulrich's drumming and the late/great Cliff Burton's bass playing, make this song iconic. The song talks about a man's depression after coming home from the war. The song progresses until finally he takes his own life, unable to deal with the pain anymore. A great introduction into Metallica. They were one of the hardest and fastest metal groups of their era, known for their transitions and ear catching riffs. They have an amazing catalog of musical masterpieces that I know you will love. Keep going. You wont regret it
My friends and I used to play this way back when. All we had were electric guitars, so my Strat was designated the acoustic. I haven't played in years, but every time I hear this song, my right hand goes finger-picking...
You gave to listen to For Whom the Bell Tolls live from Cliff 'Em All. It was a concert from Day on the Green in 1985. It is the greatest live version of For Whome the Bell Tolls.
There are absolutely no words for the descent of a solo that almost feels as if your falling when you listen..and when you do listen, you soon realize it will never leave you.
You are so right. That one also has a level of beauty. Without giving anything away ill just say it is another of the great songs of all time from Metallica among many greats they have I must say.
The best live performance of this in my opinion is the video titled "Metallica fade to black in real HD! Awesome!!" But live at Seattle '89 is really good as well.
You are entering a new time zone. The Metallica zone. Please make sure all arms and legs are inside the car as You tumble down the rabbit hole of the Metallica Zone. Time will disappear. You have so many epic songs on your journey. I smile....Remembering my first taste of what Metallica offers. The food from the Metal gods. The bread upon we all have feasted to our heart's content. Take your time.....Listen to the magic. I will watch from afar....smiling with joy in my heart. Welcome.....
You, my dear Kelton, are an artist yourself!!! Those were the most beautiful words and description of their journey ahead!!! I could read whatever you write, if you do it like that!!! Masterpiece description!!!🤟🤟💜💜
@@keltonhutchison5951 you touched my musical soul. I've never taken the Metallica journey...guess where I'm headed??😉😉🤟🎵🎼🎶 And for God's sake..KEEP WRITING!!!
@@marcieharreld286 My favorite song is "Orion". It is simplistically intricate. A masterpiece of skill, depth and soul. It is an instrumental. Just a suggestion. The cool cat in Dallas would also offer one more suggestion.... Stevie Ray Vaughn...SRV He artistry with his guitar is the inspiration for the passion in words. I want people to feel my words like one does when Stevie plays.
You're the first people I have seen react to this song and understand it's not just the lyrics that speak, but also the music as well. It's the duality of the situation, and all comes to a final moment. Loving it!
This is peak metal... and it's technically a power ballad. This album in 1984 was revolutionary and really started the genre of technical / thrash metal. I suggest Welcome Home (sanatarium) from the next album Master of Puppets for more of that haunting guitar and deep lyrics. Get the lyrics up so you can follow along, it will make you realise how profound it really is. In the 90s some high school literature classes used to analyse this older era Metallica such is the complexity and depth of the message.
"Master of puppets" best song from metallica, i felt obligated to say it because I didnt see it in the comments. (good ones but this one is the most Metallica song - their most unique and characteristic) You guys will love it, very prog and awesome solo
DUDE!!! so much Great Metallica to hear...! "Sanitarium" "For Whom The Bell Tolls" "The Shortest Straw" "My Friend Misery" "Leaper Messiah" and on and on....
The Entire Ride the Lightning album is bliss but there are many more songs to explore. "One" , "Blackened" , "Master of Puppets" , "Disposable Heroes" , "(Anesthesia) - Pulling Teeth" the most epic bass solos by the late Cliff Burton.....and so many more.
Best metal band ever. I spent ages like 10-17 saying I hated Metallica cuz I was a Led Zeppelin&Beatles classic rock purist. Plus I was SUPER into rap and there was a definite rap vs metal divide in the 90s. But then at 17 I was introduced to beer. And after you’ve had a lot of beer and maybe smoked a joint and listen to Metallica, well things change.
Hell yeah guys! More Metallica! You should check out "One" the studio version next. As for live performances, anything from their Seattle '89 concert is amazing
As others have said, there are lots of loyal Metallica fans out here anxious to watch you experience these songs for the first time. Fade to Black is indeed my favorite, but there are so many amazing songs. I recommend lyric videos because James is an incredibly deep song writer. Try “One” or “Master of Puppets” next. You want some background on the songs? “One” is, simply put, about a soldier wounded and dismembered so badly in war, kept alive by machines, and he is trapped and wants to die. “Master of Puppets” is about how drug addiction will take over and ruin your life. Can’t wait to see if you do more Metallica reactions.
Metallica One is one you must hear! Amazing transitions throughout the song and is composed beautifully. Another metallica songs that you can’t go wrong with is The Unforgiven (Part 1 of course)
Yet another awesome reaction to an awesome song. It's about, as you said losing the will to live but ultimately about committing suicide, going through the emotions that take you to a dark place then killing yourself (Fading to black). You can hear it in the song, it's up and down all the time then really hectic at the end as he's going through the actual act, a real emotion provoking song. The guitarist is Kirk hammett. Oh, and if you want to react to, what I think is his best solo ever, listen to disposable heroes. But unlike this time... be ready 😉 peace boys, love from England ❤
I like how people who hear this song for the first time leave feeling like they've been living under a rock. I'm fortunate enough to have been a Metallica fan for nearly 30 years because they were THE band that shaped me as a person since early adolescence. In my opinion, if you want to hear another emotional Metallica song that's completely underrated, listen to My Friend of Misery. Otherwise The Unforgiven, Battery, Master of Puppets, Blackened are some of my favorites. One thing you have to understand about Metallica is that their production style and musical direction are different on every album. As a fan it kept me wondering what the next inevitable Metallica album would sound like. So you might listen to a song from their 1990's catalog and wonder why they sound so different than their earlier 80's thrash / metal albums. Anyways, it's always a fun time watching people react to Metallica for the first time. Keep it up!
Guys, it’s totally amazing watching you two react, it brings me back to the days of hanging with my friends and listening to albums as they came out, in awe of the talent and fury we were experiencing. I think you’ll dig Frayed Edge Of Sanity.
Here's a song from them (Metallica), that has VERY few reactions, but is one of my favourites: My Friend In Misery. Musically, it is flawless, and it WILL give you chills down your spine!
As for a specific live performance I’ll recommend Harvester of Sorrow live in Moscow 1991, For Whom The Bell Tolls live in 1985 to see them life with the legend Cliff on bass, and The Thing That Should Not Be live in Seattle 1989
The lead singer and rythym guitarist James Hetfeild and the band were living in a bad part of San Francisco California when his amplifier was stolen from their apartment a gift from his mother who had passed away from cancer and needless to say he no longer wanted to go on in this life.Thank god for all of us Metallica fans he didnt go through with suicide and became maybe the best lyric writer and lead frontman for Metallica in early 80's through the 90's and into the 2000's!
You can't never go wrong listening to Metallica! Please listen to The Unforgiven I and Unforgiven II. Also adding Phil Collins In The Air Tonight (LIVE) you must have to watch his performance in the video. Oh Yeah you guys are great love your reactions to each of the songs you listen too!!!!
Metallica blew me away so much that when I first heard them I asked my parents to buy me a guitar. I knew nothing, knew nobody who played but was determined to learn their music. The first song I learned was To Live is to Die, not a song to start learning for your first song but I was determined. I spent almost 6 months on that one single song as a brand new guitar player and got it. Admittedly I knew the notes, but didnt have the feel yet but I didnt quit and I got it. 27 years later and I'm now an absolute shredder seeking music that not only is challenging but also impressive to me. Some of my personal best songs that i play are One, certainly Fade to Black, Holy Wars from Megadeth, Malaguena Salarosa from Chingon, November Rain from GNR, Lenny from Stevie Ray Vaughn to name a few. Metallica didnt just amaze me they changed my life in a profound way.
Can't believe that I first hear this piece some 30 years ago. Time flies! Guys make full use of your life coz in the next 20-30-40 years, you're gonna look back with full of memories.
