Thanks for posting. A few of my switches were dead, and I needed to replace the boards, and this video gave me the confidence I needed to do it myself. 👍
Thanks for the video; it was a great help. Someone stepped on the power plug on my son's HD500x and shattered both the barrel on the cord and the jack on the circuit board. Found replacement parts on Amazon and replaced both parts. The only hard part was removing the four hex screws on the front panel around the screen. They were so tight I stripped a couple of them trying to get them out. Had to get a couple of replacements from Home Depot.
Damn and i thought 250 bucks was too much for mine that was in pristine condition 5 years ago 😅 I just wanted to have a baseline of the disassembly so i found your video... Truth is i'm also having trouble with the power connector and i plan to open it up and check if maybe it's a bad joint... Thanks for your video man :)

@@delfeth Hey hope you're doing okay. I am not aware of any power supply inside the unit. You are correct that the PSU is an external brick style. If you wanted to rule that out for sure, you could replace the power supply. I see them on amazon for about $15 USD. Just search for HD500X and power supplies are about all you'll get. As far as the service center, they could have meant that the jack was broken as outlined in the video above. That is suspicious though. Best wishes, -Alex
This is probably asking a lot, but could you jot out a diagram of how you did your wiring to the toggle switch? Lol I think I’m currently where you were, where I need to jump to the capacitor; and I’d also like an on/off toggle. (Great idea) I have a toggle and some 18 gauge wire on hand. Can I get it done with that?
Hello! I'm looking to replace my LCD screen as mine has faded out. Is it just a simple unscrew and screw-on type of a situation? A video would help too. Hope someone can help!
Thxs for the vid. Do you remember how you figured out the trails that were cut out when you desolder the original cable? Did you find a schematic/picture or you just followed the missing pieces? Thxs in advance!
hi where i live i wont be able to get the replacement part for the jack, and there isn't any line6 repair either, I'm thinking of doing what the previous owner did and soldering the power supply cable straight to the PCB, how would I go about it? i have very little knowledge about soldering tbh
Hey man quick question. My POD all of the sudden has trouble relaying sound properly. Sounds like it has like 30 noise gates on every sound. Only issue I’ve found is the power Jack is loose and a slight bump will turn it off then back on. Is this my problem or is the whole unit just fried?
Ah that's weird. I'm not 100% sure. Maybe try one of the xlr or 1/4" output, whichever you normally don't use and see if the problem persists. That would narrow down whether it's a "single jack" issue or a broader issue.
@@shroob731 yeah I’ve checked all cables and jacks. Those aren’t the issue. I even still get the issue with headphones direct in. Some volume, no sustain, flat instead of distorted. It’s not the guitar either. Fml
@@thetroll8655 ugh. That's not you want at all. Honestly, I'd probably try to factory reset it(Google it). Then if that didn't fix the issue i'd crack it open and visually inspect the board. Hi there, sorry for the late response. I would first look at the USB connector on the IC. Those break or come unsoldered sometimes. You can sacrifice a cable and solder straight to the IC for testing. Good luck!

for L6 it should be solid... like the $$$ for the product - I hate to see a great idea become a bottom line business project... I don't think the file ext's are even compatible between 500 & X - that is profiteering piracy if true.. every series should at least be backwards compatible
I had a faulty power jack but was able to fix it pretty easily. The jack is a piece of shit. After removing the POD HD 500's bottom cover and inspecting the jack housing, I noticed that the jack's post was just a tiny bit loose, preventing a solid connection. You can tell by looking at the back of the jack that the post and leg are not one solid piece. I used a healthy bead of solder to connect then, and added a bit more solder to where the leg connects to the board and am now getting a good connection. Best part about it is you can do it without removing all the internals. I bought a 5.5mm female to 2.5mm male 45 degree connector that I'm going to permanently leave in place, anchored to the kleat next to the jack. This way, there will be minimal vertical strain on the jack going forward.
