To the Sad Hams who lack understanding...Dear Sad Ham...This is a $30 radio and when you consider this...dollar for dollar...this is one of the best GMRS radios around. Feature packed for pennies. As for Radioddity...I have found their prices to be reasonable and the staff accommodating. On one order....yes they sent me the wrong radio but in answer to this they told me to keep the radio for free, refunded my money AND sent me the right radio with heartfelt apologies. This is an awesome radio....and awesome company and this video rocks. I'm sorry you're sad and I hope you recover.
Thanks for the review! I'd like to see how this radio compares to the Tidradio H8. The Tidradio can be switched between Ham only, GMRS only and both. Plus it can be programmed over bluetooth. I suppose I should buy both. lol

Hi, Thanks a lot for the information. The frequency range of the UV-5G Plus is GMRS: 462.5625-467.7250 (RX & TX); VHF 136-173.99 & UHF 400-519.99MHz (RX only). It would seem that modifying the set frequencies to suit Australian CB wouldn’t be too difficult for Baofeng, then getting approval from ACMA would give them a competitive advantage I don’t think could be beaten. I would buy a couple if they did.
The regular UV-5G is so much more compact though.. how does that compare other than less battery and no USBc? Does it work on standard channels out of the box with no extra programming ?
I agreee with you the UV-5R is compact and nice. I have a few with the extended battery and Abbree extended antennas and they are nice. Its actually FCC approved for GMRS, already has the bigger battery, it has GMRS channels factory programmed, has wireless channel mapping so you can key up from a clamshell pack of radios and program it to talk to them quick and easy. Bigger nicer display, USB, I think its an overall heavier duty radio.

This is a GMRS radio. The GMRS band is only available in the USA - not in Australia, so therefore you cannot use this radio here in Australia.
