I was at JoAnn this weekend and while in line I saw someone with this Redheart Brushed yarn and thought, how did I miss that? I went back the next day and bought a couple to make my daughter a shrug. She loved the feel of this yarn!!!
Yes I just wish they had more colors available, like deeper shades instead of pastels but I want to make my raglan sweater with this stuff!!
Somehow watching Erin look for yarn is SO much more entertaining than doing it yourself 😂 Can’t wait to see what you make!
It was really interesting to see all the yarn the shop had available. So many differences in what is available and affordable between countries. Kinda strange how cotton is quite expensive while so much cotton is produced in the US. I've been on a bit of a cotton kick. Using up cotton scraps on produce bags, doilies, face scrubbies. They've been so fun to make.
I really don't mind your voice over! But ofc it's best if you can do what you prefer.

My favourite summer yarns atm have been Drops Safran (100% cotton), Baby Organic (100% cotton) from Hobbii, Rainbow Cotton Print (100% cotton) from Hobbii. The latter has really fun colorways. And Alara from Ice Yarns (50% cotton, 50% acrylic). I'm hoping to get a chance to try bamboo next spring/summer.
i need to try the drops yarn soooo bad, i've heard great things about it!! still haven't been able to bite the bullet and pay for Ice Yarns shipping LOL
@@itserinb There's actually currently a sale on Drops yarn (their winter yarn though). 30% off. You should be able to find retailers on Drops' website.
I try to look at it as price per skein on Ice Yarns and then the prices turn out pretty decent. Especially the yarn in the sales section.
I just found out a couple weeks ago Red Heart has a 100% Merino Wool line called Chic Sheep by Marly Bird. It's wonderful, but hard to find in stores. So you'd probably have to order it online, but I definitely suggest trying it. I'm making my very first sweater from it in the Crème de Mint color.
I heard about the brushed red heart yarn but joanns didn't have it the last time I went. I'm definitely going to have to go back and try checking it out again! Especially since you said it looks somewhat like mohair!
Yes I really recommend it!! Not too many brushed yarns on the market so it stands out. Still have to play with it but my only complaint at first glance is that I wish it was a lighter weight like DK or sport, instead of heavy worsted!! 💓
I really wish we have this kind of store here in the Philippines. 🥺 I wonder how it feels to see bunch of yarns in every aisle. 🥺
Was the re-spekt yarn soft? I've heard mixed reviews 😅 I was thinking about making a swimsuit cover up with it
It wasn’t buttery smooth, but it wasn’t scruffy by any means. Feels like a cotton/acrylic mix but it’s for sure softer than like lily sugar and cream!!

Ahhh thank you for letting me know about the Lion brand wool ease! The brushed yarn is very fluffy stuff, I want to mix it into one of my raglan sweaters 🥰
I have never seen the brushed yarn in my local Michael’s but I have used the Caron mohair-like yarn and I absolutely love it. It feels like actual butter and I made a quick little cropped sweater with my skein
I tried the kc movement yarn in the purple shade. I made a fishnet beach mini dress cover up. I love the sheen and it is super soft. It was a beast to work with! The yarn is very slippery and splits. But I would use it again.
Ooooh yea I can definitely believe that it would split, same with the truboo/nuboo yarns. They’re really similar but Lion brands is a little lighter weight and more slippery smooth 🥰

FYI polyester and chenille are two separate types of description. Polyester describes the material the yarn is made out of in chenille describes the construction of the yarn. So when you say things like "even though it's polyester, it has the feel of chenille" it doesn't make sense. Most chenille are in fact made out of polyester. The same thing goes for satin and silk. Satin is a construction and silk is a material. Most satins are actually made out of polyester so when people complain that it's not real satin because it's polyester I know they have no idea what they're talking about.
as someone who works at michaels, i 100% agree that the music is vv annoying to listen to for hours on end,,, however, when there's a longer transaction/a less talkative customer I'll take the awful music over awkward silence :")

The Brushed came out in 2021 but because of shipping embargoes, COVID-19, and other economy killers, the Brushed got looked over. It is now becoming seen. An yes it is totally a Yarnie thing to do: go in to pick up summer yarns, come out with the complete opposite 😂

@@itserinb that’s depressing😭 but i’ve never worked with a size 2 yarn before and it’s so thin but i love the feel of it even tho it’s cotton (and acrylic)! definitely try it if it ever comes to stores by you!!
I think the brushed yarn would actually make a cool bucket hat also because it would be fuzzy and that such a 90s look if I do say so as a 90s kid haha!

Im knitting cami no.6 by myfavoritethingsknitwear with Re-Spekt rn. It has a super elastic type feel, but is soft and no splitting!!! I’m super stoked to see how it comes out and how it blocks.

I have knitted for 12 years and 2 years ago decided to start upcycling yarn or only purchasing natural fibers. Dont care how gorgeous it is 1% polyamide or acrylic. it's a No for me.
Laughed so hard at : picks up Pima cotton says it's nice feels nothing like other cottons. Priced kind of high. I'm dead.
For anyone that didn't know Pima cotton is cultivated in peru and is one of the highest quality cotton fibers produced in the world along with egyptian.
Lol then my description of Pima cotton was right! Feels way better than a standard cotton and is priced higher due to the quality 👍🏽👍🏽
I wonder if you've seen Red Heart Hygge yarn at your Joann's! It's kind of like the brushed one, but thicker and a little more "fuzzy!" (and a little more expensive 😅) I was really surprised because it seemed so nice and soft! i have to try out the brushed one. Love your videos! :)

i made a top with the k & c essential cotton yarn and it’s sooooo soft. it has a great drape to it too!
