    Your more tolerant of old Mitchell reels than I am, I hated them then, no chance I'd use one now. Hated them.

    You said you were fishing with a little Chloe can you say how fast you were trolling and I believe you’re using a Mitchell 300 nice reels

      I was trolling about 2 MPH. I have a little tachometer on my kicker motor so when I find a speed that seems to be working good I can stay there.
      I've been using Mitchell 300's for well over 50 years. I probably have 20 of them as well as some bigger and smaller size Mitchells. I still have my first Mitchell 300 that was made in the early 60"s before Garcia bought them.

      I think that trip was the first week of June of 2022. Had a lot of fun catching Browns, they fight hard, but we were camping and I was looking to have a Rainbow trout dinner. Ever since they put the browns and tigers in there it's been a challenge to get Rainbows. Before that I used to limit out on 16" to 24" rainbows by noon everyday.

    Hey brother great video I live in Medford and I’ve been down in this area for about a year now and Browns have been on my bucket list ever since I was a kid I’ve lived in Oregon my whole life and I’ve never caught a brown have you heard of anyone catching them off the bank or do you have to be out in the middle of the lake? I’m gonna be camping at diamond Lake not this upcoming weekend but the following weekend so I’ve been trying to research and where I can try to find Brown there!

      I haven't fished for them from the bank myself, however, when I was launching my boat there was a couple fishing off the dock at the boat ramp and they said they had caught quite a few. The lady had one on her line as I was pulling away. The browns have become quite aggressive there and are a lot of fun, they fight hard. Back before they put the Browns and Tigers in the lake, I would usually catch my limit of Rainbows (up to 24 inchers). But it's getting harder and harder to get Rainbows there now. Anyway, have fun camping this weekend. Diamond Lake is one of my favorite places to camp (and fish).

      I am renting their North River boat this Sunday. I picked up some of the 1/2OZ gold cleos…..hoping it still works! Thank you for the info!

      @@AgustinGarcia-hw1wl Sounds like fun. 1/2 oz. is a little bigger than I've ever used. I usually use 1/3 oz. and have used 2/5 oz. a lot. But if you want to catch a big fish use a big lure, LOL. But I have always used the 1/3 oz. Cleos for Rainbows and the Browns seem a bit more aggressive and maybe the bigger lure would be better for them.
      I'll be heading up there for a week in the beginning of Sept.

    Looks like you're using an old Mitchel 300??

    • @umpquaoutdoors
      @umpquaoutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      You have a good eye. Yes, I've been using Mitchel reels since I was a kid and am just used to the feel of them. I have at least a dozen 300s and a few bigger and smaller sizes too. A few of them are original Mitchel 300s before Garcia bought them and started putting plastic parts in them. I do have a lot of more modern reels too though.😄
