An iconic performance by the great Marilyn Monroe, and Madonna not only recreated it but reinvented it for new generations. Loved your reaction! BTW, this movie has lots of humor as does Marily's other films as in 'Some Like It Hot' and 'The Seven Year Itch'.
My husband & I just watched this movie a few days ago. We have most of Marilyn Monroe's films. You really need to watch "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" & some of the other ones like "The Seven Year Itch" & "Some Like It Hot".
Marilyn Monroe is among the most famous American actresses. She was also a singer and model who has widely been reported to have a higher IQ than the world’s geniuses like Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawkins. Born on June 1, 1926, Marilyn faced a troublesome childhood and even had to grow up in an orphanage before living with 11 sets of foster parents. However, the “dumb blonde” was among the brilliant minds in the world’s history, which helped her through all these challenges. She rose to be one of America’s most prominent people in the film industry.

There’s also major Marilyn Monroe influence in Madonna’s Oscar awards performance from 1991 when she performed ‘Sooner or Later’ from film ‘Dick Tracy’. Fun fact: Madonna’s date for the awards was… Michael Jackson!
Marilyn Monroe gave a knock-out performance heere singing about diamonds, but in real life she often borrowed clothes and jewelry from the studio's wardrobe departments and was close to being a minimalist.

What a life she had. Hollywood and other parts tragic. Suicide. Had affairs with President Kennedy AND his brother Robert. Look for the video of her singing "Happy Birthday" to JFK it shocked a lot of people. Elton John wrote his song "Candle in the Wind/Goodbye, Norma Jean" after her. He changed the words for Princess Diana's funeral, Goodbye England's Rose.
Marilyn Monroe had such a sad story. Married to baseball great Joe DiMaggio for a while but he loved her forever. She died of an overdose at age 36. They ruled it a PROBABLE suicide. Theories have circulated forever about her death being a homicide by the Kennedy's or for the Kennedy's because she was having an affair with John and/or Robert & knew things she shouldn't.
