This is so good. You guys have set goose up pretty much exactly as I would given the budget or need. I did a lot of head nodding. practical, not flashy. Love it. Thanks!
You put a lot of thought into your Landcruiser fit out👍 well done guys!! I will use some of your ideas for my Landcruiser 105 series. Your truck is like a small Hong Kong appartment on wheels 🇦🇺 greetings from Oz.
Nice and dialed. Thanks for sharing. We've got a Campteq 80 but no cut roof--this makes me reconsider... Fun seeing how you two have adapted the inside of the camper. We both love that tiny little space on our rig--juuuust big enough for two humans, and the best nights of sleep ever. Safe travels!!!
Just found your channel and I’m really loving it! You two are so real and humble it’s so refreshing to see. Subscribed as well. Best of luck with all your future journeys.
Love the walk around, my wife is now shopping Amazon through you're site ,hope you get some benefit. All this time we thought you could get to you're bed from the inside like the AluCab on a Troopy . We have a FJ62 with a AutoHome roof top. Great ideas for our truck. We have a KayMar rear bumper with tire and jerry can holders but no drop down table. Look forward to more episode's.
Thanks John! As John Smith said we can access the bed from inside. For the video we opened up the big rear window/door to shoot, but we only climb in from inside and then replace the wood panel beneath us. We love 60 series!
@@SaltySunriseSailing Sorry , we watched the old Goose walk around , we like you're truck. Cruisers are great but the petrol engines cost a lot to run , have you thought about a engine conversion V8 or diesel we have ?
@@johndiaz7240 yes, we've thought a lot about it. The swap costs so much in the US, but depending on where else we end up, if we have the time and $ we'd do it in an instant.
Love the set up! We just bought a Sequoia in Chile and it's a mess ! Bahahaha y'all have it so well organized that I would die of shame if you saw our shitttttshow !😜
You're adorable..and lots of great ideas too. I'm setting up an old sub the same way..only thing missing is an equally adorable copilot! Ha..good luck with that one John!
Let me start out by complementing You (again) on Your brilliant channel. Furthermore FINALLY someone who does a second walkthrough of their rig. Many of us follow You & watch the changes You add. So for You to take time & do a second vehicle walkthrough including some technicaal data (water/fuel volume) is a big thing for others travelling or planning to travel. May I suggest You add a 3.rd FiFi to Your collection in the rear seen at this is where You have open flames :-) Stay Safe, All the best from Norway
May I humbly suggest, to make a way, to create a slip cover over the three containers on the back, maybe to use when not actively using them, to cover and secure. To avoid vandalism and contamination. Apologies for my optimist form of paranoia. Often we tranverse among all kinds of people, not realizing the risk factor. Maybe a cut out for the drinking water spigot. There ya go, my meager 2 cents, may the force be with you, as you live the world traveller's every dream. Thank you for this tour.
We did have a chord to secure them from being grabbed and through 18 countries we never had any issue but perhaps if you were in cities more often and worried about people messing with the contents a cover would be good. Thanks for watching!
We sold that truck and are in a different 80 series now. At 6' I can say it was already tight length wise. The width is substantially smaller than a double so we were shoulder to shoulder as well. Fine for months, but after three years full time it was way too small.
somehow you didn't mentioned fridge and solar panel items in current setup. Could you please add some comments about these items or are they from "nice to have" category
I think we mention more about the fridge in the first walkthrough. It's an ARB 37qt. Big enough to get us through a week remote if we pack right. We didn't do solar because with the dual batteries we can sit for 4 days or so before needing to start the truck and we rarely sit that long. If they were free we'd happily add solar, but for the cost we just figured it was extra fuel money, for now. Cheers!
Very nice conversion !! I want to do the exact same one but I still want to know if one can sit inside on the bench while the roof tent is closed. Do I still have enough height to sit up comfortable on the inside ?
Good question. You can if the bed slat for that part of the bench seat is pushed forward (they stack on top of each other) If you leave the entire bed in place then you have to have a bend in your neck which isn't comfortable.
@@SaltySunriseSailing I would profoundly appreciate that you demonstrate that on your next video, just a couple of seconds. You cannot imagine how long I have been waiting to get in contact with someone who owns an 80 series setup like yours and you cannot imagine how much that would help me in my build. I would really appreciate it. However if you cannot do it, please make a story on it or contact me to show me how it's done. Thank you very much !!

You guys are the real deal! Thanks for sharing. Is your swing arm with the jerry cans custom or commercial? We cannot seem to find anything other than Expedition One, which are very expensive.
We ground tent when backpacking or bikepacking, but since about 2004 I've always preferred sleeping on a bed platform inside the truck. Did a normal RTT for a few months and hated it. For us, cutting the roof off and being to sleep inside the truck, but with more headroom was the only setup we liked more than inside on a platform. We have a ground tent with us for longer hikes in Patagonia etc. 👍
So, they say to never leave food or stoves in your vehicle when in bear country. I see so many people that do this with over landing. I’m curiously you all have ever had an encounter with bears for this reason? I’m doing my research and will start over landing soon and safety is paramount to me.
Never an issue. We've camped in bear country many many times. When we backpack or moto camp we put all food in a sack and hoist it into a tree. Keep in mind that we don't often camp in national parks where bears are used to people = food.
I've been trying to come up with a good way to do something like this on my 3rd gen for quite a bit. I've seen kits for 2nd gens outside of the US but I think only a few were made and nothing for the 3rd through 5th gens.
@@MonkeyofAwesome yeah it really is the best setup. I really want to contact a fabrication company and see about getting this done. GFC told me I might be able to do something similar with their RTTs since they can be made to allow access from underneath/inside the car.
@@JoshuaWriter @monkeyofawesome I think it's possible. The only issue with modern trucks (Unlike an FJ60 or 70 series) is that the roof area dictates your maximum bedsize. Modern trucks get skinnier at the roof from what I've seen. The bed we used to have at the midline of the 80 was significantly bigger than the Campteq bed. I think the simplest way to go is a bed platform in the back and then cut the roof for headroom and so you can stand up. Then again, we also love having 2 stories. Haha! There is no perfect truck!
Us that a Donaldson top spin pre filter on your snorkel? If so any issues with it coming loose? Could I bother you to give us the model number please. I bought the ARB clear one it didn't fit . Got the adapter still didn't fit secure.
50k miles so far and no issues with it coming loose. I've used the Topspin and this is the Topspin HD. I bought roughly the size of the snorkel opening and on this truck the best fit is to make some slices in the top of the snorkel and put the Topspin on the outside of it. I'll take a look for the part # of this one once we find some wifi. 👍
