Douglas, great rig. Funny, we designed our 80 series coming from rafting and backpacking. I think it’s a much more elegant solution then coming from a 40’ RV to an F350. 😀. Ours was featured by Overland Bound walk around video in early 2021. Eric applies magic. He is a true craftsman. Cheers mate.
Thanks man. And yeah, moving up from two dry bags, a one man ultra light tent and wet clothes on the shady side of a canyon into a cruiser is almost obscenely luxurious 🤣. If you can link it, I'd like to see the tour of your rig.
Wow!! That is beautiful! It would be cool to see you out on the trails sometime and see this in person. Love how you have built this out. I travel alone and sleep in the back of my 80 as well. It's so great to just park, jump in the back without even getting out of the vehicle and cozy up for the night if needed. Congrats on the build. And shout out to Campteq
Very well thought out. Eric from Campteq does some great and clean work. Doug congrats on your beautiful rig! Hope to see you and your rig out on the trail some time. Which water heat exchanger are you planning to run? Cheers 🍻
Thanks Danny. We went ahead with the tank design even though I have not done a deep dive into the heat exchanger yet. Sort of futurizing the build, if that is a word. I have to research my options as we work our way through the axles and suspension restoration. I the meantime yes, I do plan to take the vehicle on a run before we put it back up on the lift for axles, regearing etc. I want at least one desert run before it get's hot. Be great to see ya out there.
The tops are manufactured by the gentleman in the video. Eric Lippincott owner of Campteq. He also did the entire installation you see in the video campteq.co You can email him at Campteq@gmail.com 👍
@@DouglasGreen562 thanks so very much. Enjoyed all of your videos. Well done and informative. I’ve got a 96 LX450. I’m a teacher in the Orange County area if your ever in the area for off roading. All the best!
Wow, sorry for taking so long to reply Anthony! YT notifications just alerted me! From 3 weeks ago? The basic pop top is $8,000.00. You can have it configured to either clamp down to the top of your rig or you can leave the clamps off an do the full installation like mine. The cool thing is the clamp on version easily converts to the full install version, yet serves as a sleek RTT in the meantime. So ya don't have to commit to cutting your top right away. That can be done later. I should do a full video to demonstrate the options.
Good question! Here is the answer and a link to my other video showing the suspension upgrades that we installed to manage the extra weight. Total vehicle weight 7275 Lbs. (Loaded, fuel and water) Total vehicle weight 6919 lbs (Minus fuel and water) Sprung weight (Loaded) Front = 2773.2 Rear = 3443.2 Unsprung Weight (Includes axles, tie rod, drag link + 35x12.5 tires and wheels @97 Lbs each) Front = 543.8 Rear = 514.8 Method of weight measurement -Certified Cat Scale and Anbull Crane Scale See video here..ua-cam.com/video/bikSyKMFCGE/v-deo.html
impressed with how thought through this build is.
Thank you sir! You still have an 80? I see your channel has an 80 with a Kayak on top 👍.

Nice. Suppose LandCruiserPhil isn’t the only one in AZ rep’n a Campteq lid anymore.
Vary Nice! 👌We have the similar setup by Campteq!
The slide on that ridge… love this rig.
Once you get this done, it seems like an entrepreneurial possibility to start a new kind of vehicle.
Maltec makes a commercially available albeit fatter version you can buy off the shelf.
Very nice setup. Love this build
Glad ya like it. It's a real life saver for business travel as well as recreation. Always somewhere to sleep and no need to haul bags up an elevator.
This is no doubt a great build. I would like to hear what your wife thinks about living out of this for a week.
😁 Just a week?
@@DouglasGreen562 hahaha.
Very practical!
Yes! We want to be comfortable but able to drive the rougher trails.
absolutely amazing build!
Thank you!

What suspension mods did you do?
The axles and suspension will be upgraded this month. I will video document most of it and publish here 👍
Love your build. Might it be possible to get a connection for your roof top conversion? Thanks so very much!!!!
