Metal Detecting In The Mohave Desert With Steve And Annie

  • In this video, I search for gold nuggets in the Mohave desert of Arizona and discover an old mining camp complete with a fire ring and relics. Although I don't find any nuggets, I do find the mining camp that is over 100 years old. I also don't get gored by a wild bull, and I get to tramp around the desert, so I'd say it is a win.
    About Aquachigger:
I enjoy metal detecting for historical items like gold coins, relics, silver coins, and other buried treasures. I also metal detect for gold and silver nuggets and even meteorites. I like to make videos that promote my choice of lifestyle that includes outdoor adventure,
metal detecting, yapping, searching for river treasure, SCUBA diving, exploring abandoned places, hiking, caving, caring for animals and pets, and observing the things outdoors that often go unnoticed by most people who are not familiar with outdoor adventures and nature. I keep my UA-cam "Aquachigger" channel family-friendly and hope you subscribe if you like my style.
BTW, you can also catch me here, / chiggsarmy ,but I may get a little edgier there. FB isn't a place for kids anyway...lol.

I did a little camping and metal detecting with my friends Steve and Annie while in Arizona. Unfortunately, very little of the footage I took with them came out so it's mostly me you see. I hope you like the video.

Regarding that tin you found, I saw a Pioneer Brand Baking Powder tin for sale online that looks just like it. It says Registered June 11, 1881 on the side, so that may roughly date it.

That brass rivet could be from a pair of Levi jeans. The story goes that Levi jeans used to have a copper rivet right near where a man's gonads are. Result, when too close to a campfire the rivet would heat up. One nasty way to wake up. That ended when somebody high up in Levi Jeans company experienced a wake-up call.

On BLM land you’re limited on the amount of rocks you can take. I believe it’s 25 lbs IIRC. The intent of not taking relics is to prevent people from ransacking archaeological sites. That’s my take on it. It may be a lot of trash, but you can see how it can be used to date a site.
