I just. I just need to congratulate everybody who worked on this. I’ve never enjoyed myself more while watching something. There’s just so much in every bit to this, the art, the writing, the music, the voice actors, it just blends together in such an incredible fashion, I just need to share all my thoughts about why this is so special. The Art This one is a no-brainer for why it makes this so lovely to watch. The environments are so clean and fun to look at, with them varying from all kinds of locations, from caves to meadows, from towns to walkways, it feels like a real place where you could walk through and admire everything from. The character designs are lovely as well, with small details such as Tommy’s sleeves(?) giving him so much more personality. Even besides the main characters, the background ones are incredible too, all of them feeling so different, yet still fitting within the setting you’ve made for them. The addition of the bots was so unexpected, yet they had so much personality to their designs, they blended in just as well. Creativity was at its peak here, especially with the nods to future events, from Dream’s strings being visible for a split second, to Phil’s crows flying around Wilbur when he appears onscreen. The Writing Is it possible to applaud something enough? Because the writing stands out so well, it actually hurts. The characters feel real and lively, with their silly jokes, and their differing ways of speaking making them pop. Not only was their dialogue in-character though, but it was so in-character, you actually showed that there’s more to them than it appears on the surface. Tommy expressing signs that he’s not just the impulsive brash kid they know him as, Tubbo making it clear he wants to support his friends (which could even hint how later on he tends to base his self-worth on what other people see him as), Dream showing signs that he’s not always the great person a lot of people seem to see him as (George even pointing it out himself), and massive appreciation for showing that Dream and Tommy used to joke around and be friends with each other. But Wilbur. The writing was already wonderful, but I can’t believe you guys actually did Wilbur so much justice. He’s the big brother figure here, watching his little brothers get into mischief, scoffing at the idea of getting into trouble, yet he’s ambitious, and sees a chance for opportunity. You actually showed him gaining the idea for the drug empire, wanting to start a monopoly, but it’s not framed as some “evil” act. It’s Wilbur being Wilbur, being confident and willing to set an idea into motion. He came to Tommy because he’s familiar with Tommy’s mischief and knew this would work well. He never places his full trust in anyone though, being cautious in some cases. Showing Wilbur having friendships with those around him, and though he can come off as the hopeless musician type, he does very much care for his friends. When the idea of L’Manberg was brought up, it sounded so silly to all of them, but when Wilbur heard about the more restrictive laws and situations that occurred, he decided to start a country where they could live to their full potential. You captured his spirit so well, every little angle and emotion from him comes alive here, especially his charismatic nature, since that’s one of the things Wilbur is known the best for. This is the best depiction of early season 1 Wilbur I’ve ever seen, and I have so much confidence for how you’ll continue to write him in the future. The Music These songs are absolute bangers. It can be hard to write music for a musical project such as this, but you all really nailed it so hard. Each song has its own tempo, its own vibe, and they’re all songs you could listen to when you’re doing simple things, such as homework or even walking. They each have their own little charm, from the first song being a fun, welcoming one, to Tommy’s high-energy tune about his discs and the chase around them. Personally, Wilbur’s Loverboy song was my favourite. It’s enrapturing, with the tune being so calm, and the lyrics being applicable to multiple different things, such as future events, or metaphors for something unrelated. The soundtrack’s going to be so fun to listen to when I’m relaxing. The Pacing It was slow, it connected well, and it just made so much sense. There was no need to jump right into the big action scenes, with Act 1 instead exploring more of the slow, light-hearted stuff. Though it could seem unnecessary to some, it did a lovely job at establishing the characters, with them all getting enough screentime to get a feel for who they were. Small scenes such as Tubbo’s little caving song, actually are a massive benefit to this, since it shows how things go on normally, outside of conflict. You learn all you need to, and get a feel for the environment you’re going to live in for the remaining acts. I also cannot thank you enough for actually mentioning some of the more unknown conflicts, such as the jailbreak, the iron farms, etc. Those are overlooked so much, and it helps the narrative so much more. Other Things I Absolutely Adore - Making the Dream SMP populated was an excellent idea, and it was executed so well. It feels like there’s other people living here, and even though they’re just background characters, they all have their own little personalities, like they’re living their own lives behind the scenes. - Showing hints of Dream’s downfall, with him expressing a more violent side in cases, him having all these stories of grand surrounding him, and the characters mentioning that you shouldn’t mess with him, and what he says, goes. Even though they all like him and have fun with him, they’re still aware of some of his more darker elements. At this point though, he’s still just a guy. He’s kind of a jerk and uses his power unfairly, but he’s still some dude. - The establishment of why the discs were so important at the beginning. Unlike how things are currently, back then, the discs were just sought after by tommy because they were his, and he wanted to own what was his. Dream taking them was like a fun little game, and in the song, it’s constantly referenced to be a back and forth. They’re still just Tommy’s items at this point, not yet a metaphor for Dream having control. - Showing friendships, even through silent touches or just simple conversations, really makes it feel like they all have their own lives. Outside of their main character statuses, they still have friendships and a community they all built together. - The jokes were all funny, with the comedic timing being perfect. I will now be thinking of “We need an MLM.” “But you like women.” for the rest of the day, thank you. In conclusion, this was wonderful. It was a perfect blend of what made the beginning of the Dream SMP so special, even before all the grand story and conflict began. It makes the Dream SMP feel like a real place, with real things going on in it. Everybody who worked on this project, I want to give you all the biggest applause I’ve ever given. I’ve never been so hyped for an Act 2, and I can’t wait to see where your brilliant content goes next.

I can't believe Alexander Hamilton's death lead to 170+ fans making a whole production of a musical about a Minecraft server, it's just amazing. You guys popped off with the voice acting, the instrumental, the mixing, the sfx, the animations, and well EVERYTHING. So proud of everyone who helped make this possible!
Anyone realize that this musical was styled like Hamilton. The opening song, the different perspectives, the different types of music. The Dream SMP was inspired by Hamilton. So I think it’s a perfect connection. Intentional or not. Good job. :)

I love Wilbur's song "lover boy" not just because the voice actor was so good at both voicing and singing Wilbur but because in the song Wilbur refers to himself as lover boy, hinting, in my opinion, at Wilbur having a crush on Sally, meaning that Fundy might be coming soon little baby fundip! And it was just so good even now, I continuously keep singing "lover boy, what are you gonna do? Lover boy, when the dogs are after you" plus the animation when when the birds came out of the woods from the camera was an amazing animation everyone did so well ❤ I can't wait for chapter 2 ~cozmo

I just gotta say I LOVE that the chat is characters in this. Because we truly are characters. I mean Phil, Techno, and Ranboo have their chat all be canonical in their own ways. It makes it so much more interesting and make sense for people to interact with their chat. And having random people around in the background is such a good idea. Makes it so much more lively.
There are some moments when I really don't like this community but then I watch stuff like this watching people who genuinely enjoy these creators and what they do just making a passion project for said creators and I dunno it just puts a smile on my face after watching Twitter implode on itself

I mean, you have fully shaded, good quality animation, the attention to detail, the songs, the pacing is PERFECT, and don't even get me _started_ on the symbolism; oh the *SYMBOLISM*!!!!! Like at 34:52, I might be wrong but I think the blackbird might represent Wilbur's demise later on. AND THE BACKGROUND MUSIC- everyone has their own mini theme tune, and the leitmotifs for each character or place or point in the history just shows HOW MUCH WORK went into this!!! And the best part? When I saw this in my recommended, I just expected someone animated some dsmp scenes and added some already existing musical into it, but I was curious anyway so I clicked it. Legit did NOT expect the level of how much I love it from how awesome this is. Looking forward to the rest of the chapters!!

I cannot express how much amazing effort was put into this miraculous musical! The animation is great, the voice acting, landscapes are fantastic and the music! MY GOD, THE MUSIC IS SO ENJOYABLE TO LISTEN TO!!! Also, the comedy in this is absolutely hilarious, I died when Tommy confronted everyone about how potions can stop diarrhoea In conclusion, I hope this community will get more attention and love from SMP fans all over the world. Amen~

This is amazing the animators, voice actors, people who wrote the script and everyone that worked on this project y’all did amazing and I can’t wait to see more.
I absolutely love this. I honestly can’t think of a thing that is wrong here. The songs are absolutely amazing. I really like the begining song and everything Wilbur sings. I also love Wilburs motivation of wanting to prove himself to Philza. If i could make a sugestion for the future. Don’t make Dream a monster at least at the begining of the war. Since Dream really wasn’t that evil in the pre-Tommy and early after Tommy eras. Also if i could make another sugestion. Forshadow the character of Technoblade. Kind of like how you did Phil. Maybe have Tommy mock Dream for his loss to Techno or something. But all in all this is a wonderful adaptation of the Dream SMP to a new format. I really like how you gave everybody’s chat’s a character. I will be keeping up with your work in the future and thank you for making this.

This is one of the best things I've been a part of, everyone in this project is seriously so talented. I have met some incredible people too, so thank you for letting me be a part of this. The truth is that I almost teared up seeing so many comments of people liking Lover Boy / Lover Boy Reprise, It has been so much fun making the backing tracks and mixing these two songs and I am so happy that people enjoy them... So yeah, this is just the beginning, there's so much good stuff that isn't out yet!!!

I found someone posted on Tumblr of the premier and I immediately went to UA-cam for this. I don't regret any second. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! Everyone did such a great job on this project! Congratulation everyone! I'm about to ramble a lot because I adore this musical. Story: As someone who only joins after Tommy's resurrection, this is a great introduction for newcomers. It doesn't feel like you need to know the whole of the DSMP lore, especially the beginning and pre-L'Manberg war. Despite not telling the actual disc war, but Tommy's song summarized it well. The story is easy to follow and acts as a great introduction to Tommy, Tubbo, Wilbur, and Dream. The foreshadowing is a special treat, especially for native DSMP watchers, but for newcomers, it doesn't seem heavy-handed. Visual: Very pleasing to the eyes. Despite the often changing style from the various artists, it still feels consistent, especially the colors, which help to make the change not too jarring. The character design and background are great as well. What I like the most is definitely the foreshadowing, like Tommy's in Dream control, a flash of Wilbur in L'Manberg and Pogtopia clothes, and Phil's crow. Voice Actor: Everyone here is wonderful. Great cast and the voice suit them so well. Tubbo and George, despite having a more feminine voice, still feels in character especially in their less chaotic nature compare to the others. Tommy and Wilbur's VA are my favorite because their voice almost sounds similar to the CC. Everyone vocal's performance is great as well, no one is out of tune, despite a couple of minutes of audio error in Tommy's song. Song: I adore all the songs here. The dialogs in-between don't feel like they cut the song but instead strengthened the small aspect of the lyrics before it. "Welcome to the SMP" is a great opening number and a bit of introduction to Dream. "And I Lost Them" is a great introduction to Tommy's determinate, fiery personality and his attachment to his discs. "I Can Do That" showcases Tubbo and his loyalty. "Loverboy" is a build-up for Wilbur's main character arc. My favorite is gotta be "Brewin' Up A Plan" and "Loverboy Reprise" (more to the latter) because, unlike the others song, these songs push the narrative progress. "Brewin' Up A Plan" is basically the whole camarvan arc displayed in a song, added with the visual, and 'Loverboy Reprise' is Wilbur's I-want-song which I'm a sucker for (I can compare it to "Belle Reprise" from "Beauty and the Beast").

this came out right when i first got into the dream smp and i clicked off the video 2 minutes in coming back to it a month later i realise that was the dumbest decision ive ever made in my life because this is absoulutly fantastic, every song is a bop, this is like the third time ive re-watched it because the songs keep getting stuck in my head. the voice acting is great, the writing is phenomenal, and dont even get me started on the art! every single one of you is extremly talented! and you should all be very proud of yourselves. great job!

I just. I just need to congratulate everybody who worked on this. I’ve never enjoyed myself more while watching something. There’s just so much in every bit to this, the art, the writing, the music, the voice actors, it just blends together in such an incredible fashion, I just need to share all my thoughts about why this is so special.
The Art
This one is a no-brainer for why it makes this so lovely to watch. The environments are so clean and fun to look at, with them varying from all kinds of locations, from caves to meadows, from towns to walkways, it feels like a real place where you could walk through and admire everything from. The character designs are lovely as well, with small details such as Tommy’s sleeves(?) giving him so much more personality. Even besides the main characters, the background ones are incredible too, all of them feeling so different, yet still fitting within the setting you’ve made for them. The addition of the bots was so unexpected, yet they had so much personality to their designs, they blended in just as well. Creativity was at its peak here, especially with the nods to future events, from Dream’s strings being visible for a split second, to Phil’s crows flying around Wilbur when he appears onscreen.
The Writing
Is it possible to applaud something enough? Because the writing stands out so well, it actually hurts. The characters feel real and lively, with their silly jokes, and their differing ways of speaking making them pop. Not only was their dialogue in-character though, but it was so in-character, you actually showed that there’s more to them than it appears on the surface. Tommy expressing signs that he’s not just the impulsive brash kid they know him as, Tubbo making it clear he wants to support his friends (which could even hint how later on he tends to base his self-worth on what other people see him as), Dream showing signs that he’s not always the great person a lot of people seem to see him as (George even pointing it out himself), and massive appreciation for showing that Dream and Tommy used to joke around and be friends with each other.
But Wilbur. The writing was already wonderful, but I can’t believe you guys actually did Wilbur so much justice. He’s the big brother figure here, watching his little brothers get into mischief, scoffing at the idea of getting into trouble, yet he’s ambitious, and sees a chance for opportunity. You actually showed him gaining the idea for the drug empire, wanting to start a monopoly, but it’s not framed as some “evil” act. It’s Wilbur being Wilbur, being confident and willing to set an idea into motion. He came to Tommy because he’s familiar with Tommy’s mischief and knew this would work well. He never places his full trust in anyone though, being cautious in some cases. Showing Wilbur having friendships with those around him, and though he can come off as the hopeless musician type, he does very much care for his friends. When the idea of L’Manberg was brought up, it sounded so silly to all of them, but when Wilbur heard about the more restrictive laws and situations that occurred, he decided to start a country where they could live to their full potential. You captured his spirit so well, every little angle and emotion from him comes alive here, especially his charismatic nature, since that’s one of the things Wilbur is known the best for. This is the best depiction of early season 1 Wilbur I’ve ever seen, and I have so much confidence for how you’ll continue to write him in the future.
The Music
These songs are absolute bangers. It can be hard to write music for a musical project such as this, but you all really nailed it so hard. Each song has its own tempo, its own vibe, and they’re all songs you could listen to when you’re doing simple things, such as homework or even walking. They each have their own little charm, from the first song being a fun, welcoming one, to Tommy’s high-energy tune about his discs and the chase around them. Personally, Wilbur’s Loverboy song was my favourite. It’s enrapturing, with the tune being so calm, and the lyrics being applicable to multiple different things, such as future events, or metaphors for something unrelated. The soundtrack’s going to be so fun to listen to when I’m relaxing.
The Pacing
It was slow, it connected well, and it just made so much sense. There was no need to jump right into the big action scenes, with Act 1 instead exploring more of the slow, light-hearted stuff. Though it could seem unnecessary to some, it did a lovely job at establishing the characters, with them all getting enough screentime to get a feel for who they were. Small scenes such as Tubbo’s little caving song, actually are a massive benefit to this, since it shows how things go on normally, outside of conflict. You learn all you need to, and get a feel for the environment you’re going to live in for the remaining acts. I also cannot thank you enough for actually mentioning some of the more unknown conflicts, such as the jailbreak, the iron farms, etc. Those are overlooked so much, and it helps the narrative so much more.
Other Things I Absolutely Adore
- Making the Dream SMP populated was an excellent idea, and it was executed so well. It feels like there’s other people living here, and even though they’re just background characters, they all have their own little personalities, like they’re living their own lives behind the scenes.
- Showing hints of Dream’s downfall, with him expressing a more violent side in cases, him having all these stories of grand surrounding him, and the characters mentioning that you shouldn’t mess with him, and what he says, goes. Even though they all like him and have fun with him, they’re still aware of some of his more darker elements. At this point though, he’s still just a guy. He’s kind of a jerk and uses his power unfairly, but he’s still some dude.
- The establishment of why the discs were so important at the beginning. Unlike how things are currently, back then, the discs were just sought after by tommy because they were his, and he wanted to own what was his. Dream taking them was like a fun little game, and in the song, it’s constantly referenced to be a back and forth. They’re still just Tommy’s items at this point, not yet a metaphor for Dream having control.
- Showing friendships, even through silent touches or just simple conversations, really makes it feel like they all have their own lives. Outside of their main character statuses, they still have friendships and a community they all built together.
- The jokes were all funny, with the comedic timing being perfect. I will now be thinking of “We need an MLM.” “But you like women.” for the rest of the day, thank you.
In conclusion, this was wonderful. It was a perfect blend of what made the beginning of the Dream SMP so special, even before all the grand story and conflict began. It makes the Dream SMP feel like a real place, with real things going on in it. Everybody who worked on this project, I want to give you all the biggest applause I’ve ever given. I’ve never been so hyped for an Act 2, and I can’t wait to see where your brilliant content goes next.

There are some moments when I really don't like this community but then I watch stuff like this watching people who genuinely enjoy these creators and what they do just making a passion project for said creators and I dunno it just puts a smile on my face after watching Twitter implode on itself

I think the blackbird you mentioned was actually a crow, representing Philza, his father. I believe he always wanted validation and for Phil to be proud, so made a nation. This makes it so much more effective when Phil stabs him.

When I saw this in my recommended, I just expected someone animated some dsmp scenes and added some already existing musical into it, but I was curious anyway so I clicked it. Legit did NOT expect the level of how much I love it from how awesome this is. Looking forward to the rest of the chapters!!

The animation is great, the voice acting, landscapes are fantastic and the music! MY GOD, THE MUSIC IS SO ENJOYABLE TO LISTEN TO!!! Also, the comedy in this is absolutely hilarious, I died when Tommy confronted everyone about how potions can stop diarrhoea
In conclusion, I hope this community will get more attention and love from SMP fans all over the world.

While it's definitely not my type, I feel like I can still appreciate how much work was put into this. I wish all people who work on this project good luck and wish you all well, this definitely deserves more attention though.

This is amazing the animators, voice actors, people who wrote the script and everyone that worked on this project y’all did amazing and I can’t wait to see more.
I absolutely love this. I honestly can’t think of a thing that is wrong here. The songs are absolutely amazing. I really like the begining song and everything Wilbur sings. I also love Wilburs motivation of wanting to prove himself to Philza. If i could make a sugestion for the future. Don’t make Dream a monster at least at the begining of the war. Since Dream really wasn’t that evil in the pre-Tommy and early after Tommy eras. Also if i could make another sugestion. Forshadow the character of Technoblade. Kind of like how you did Phil. Maybe have Tommy mock Dream for his loss to Techno or something.
But all in all this is a wonderful adaptation of the Dream SMP to a new format. I really like how you gave everybody’s chat’s a character. I will be keeping up with your work in the future and thank you for making this.
Great suggestions! In Brewin Up A Plan, Immie changes their face to look like techno (nose and crown). There’ll be more foreshadowing in the future :)

This is one of the best things I've been a part of, everyone in this project is seriously so talented. I have met some incredible people too, so thank you for letting me be a part of this. The truth is that I almost teared up seeing so many comments of people liking Lover Boy / Lover Boy Reprise, It has been so much fun making the backing tracks and mixing these two songs and I am so happy that people enjoy them... So yeah, this is just the beginning, there's so much good stuff that isn't out yet!!!
I just gotta say, I’m so proud of everyone on the project. Guys look! We made 40 mins of purely original content with way more to come! We did it!!

I found someone posted on Tumblr of the premier and I immediately went to UA-cam for this. I don't regret any second. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! Everyone did such a great job on this project! Congratulation everyone!
I'm about to ramble a lot because I adore this musical.
Story:
As someone who only joins after Tommy's resurrection, this is a great introduction for newcomers. It doesn't feel like you need to know the whole of the DSMP lore, especially the beginning and pre-L'Manberg war. Despite not telling the actual disc war, but Tommy's song summarized it well. The story is easy to follow and acts as a great introduction to Tommy, Tubbo, Wilbur, and Dream. The foreshadowing is a special treat, especially for native DSMP watchers, but for newcomers, it doesn't seem heavy-handed.
Visual:
Very pleasing to the eyes. Despite the often changing style from the various artists, it still feels consistent, especially the colors, which help to make the change not too jarring. The character design and background are great as well. What I like the most is definitely the foreshadowing, like Tommy's in Dream control, a flash of Wilbur in L'Manberg and Pogtopia clothes, and Phil's crow.
Voice Actor:
Everyone here is wonderful. Great cast and the voice suit them so well. Tubbo and George, despite having a more feminine voice, still feels in character especially in their less chaotic nature compare to the others. Tommy and Wilbur's VA are my favorite because their voice almost sounds similar to the CC. Everyone vocal's performance is great as well, no one is out of tune, despite a couple of minutes of audio error in Tommy's song.
Song:
I adore all the songs here. The dialogs in-between don't feel like they cut the song but instead strengthened the small aspect of the lyrics before it. "Welcome to the SMP" is a great opening number and a bit of introduction to Dream. "And I Lost Them" is a great introduction to Tommy's determinate, fiery personality and his attachment to his discs. "I Can Do That" showcases Tubbo and his loyalty. "Loverboy" is a build-up for Wilbur's main character arc. My favorite is gotta be "Brewin' Up A Plan" and "Loverboy Reprise" (more to the latter) because, unlike the others song, these songs push the narrative progress. "Brewin' Up A Plan" is basically the whole camarvan arc displayed in a song, added with the visual, and 'Loverboy Reprise' is Wilbur's I-want-song which I'm a sucker for (I can compare it to "Belle Reprise" from "Beauty and the Beast").

this came out right when i first got into the dream smp and i clicked off the video 2 minutes in
coming back to it a month later i realise that was the dumbest decision ive ever made in my life because this is absoulutly fantastic, every song is a bop, this is like the third time ive re-watched it because the songs keep getting stuck in my head.
the voice acting is great, the writing is phenomenal, and dont even get me started on the art!
every single one of you is extremly talented! and you should all be very proud of yourselves.

okay but in all seriousness, its been so cool to see this come together and work with everyone. im so excited to keep working on the next parts. working on the project has been honestly one of the best things in my life and i will look back fondly on every moment.
I REALLY love all the voice actors! Accurate to everyone's personalities! and I loved the idea that chat are actual characters; was confused at first but understood in the end.
side note, I honestly really enjoyed tommy's voice actor! super cool!

This musical is giving me the Lightning Thief Musical vibes, and I am loving it.
I want to keep this short, this is amazing in all ways possible. The music, singing, story board and animations are all amazing. It must have taken alot of time and it payd off.
